Hi guys, and welcome back. In today’s article, I want to talk about the New World of Warcraft Thunderstorm System, which introduces a battle royale mode for World of Warcraft. I will go through all the different rewards you will be able to get during this event.
Introduction to the New World of Warcraft Thunderstorm System
I also want to explain how difficult it might be for you to actually obtain all these different rewards. Keep in mind, this is a time-limited event, so sadly, these rewards might be gone once the event concludes.
Main Rewards Overview
As you can see, we have a few interesting rewards. Here, we have a pirate mount, which is essentially a reskin, with just a few additional elements added to a pirate mount that you can already obtain in the game. Following that, we have a cool pirate set, a new look for Pepe, several weapons, and a pet. There are also a few more items, but these are the main rewards you’ll want to focus on.
The Renown System for Plunder Storm
The way you obtain these different rewards in Plunder Storm is through the new pirate mount. This system operates similarly to the one from Shadowlands and the different covenants, or the ones from reputations in Dragonflight. Essentially, you will have 40 different Renown levels, and each time you unlock one Renown, you will unlock a new reward. For instance, all the different pieces of the set are going to be around levels 34-35. I can assume that the mount is going to be towards the end. As seen, the pet is also included here.
Obtaining Renown Levels
What’s interesting is that the developers, in their interview, gave an approximate number of matches you will need to complete to gain one Renown level. On average, every four or five matches should grant you one Renown. This means that to achieve the 40 Renown levels, you will, on average, need to play a minimum of 160 matches, which is quite a lot, especially considering this is a time-limited event. You cannot just wait and find time a few months from now to farm all these different items.
Time Commitment
Furthermore, in their interview and the main description of the event, it’s mentioned that these matches will last, on average, 10 to 15 minutes each. Taking the lowest estimate, which is 10 minutes, it means that in total, you should expect to spend 26 hours playing these matches to unlock the different Renown levels.
Reflections on the New Rewards System
So, I think that’s quite a lot. It’s asking a lot for players to unlock some of these different rewards, and they’re not even that unique, if I’m being honest. The mount you can basically get in the game already; they just added a hat and a little something to it. But all the other items are not even that crazy unique.
This is something that, in my opinion, is a lot for all these different things, having to do so many matches and having to basically spend so many hours is going to make a lot of people frustrated. Especially knowing that, sadly, this is a time-limited event, and you won’t be able to do it forever. I just wanted to point that out because I find it very interesting that we know how much time, on average, you will have to spend in order to get all these different rewards.
Keep in mind, maybe there will be ways for you to do it even faster than that, but I’m also sure that for many people, it’s going to take even longer than that. This is something that we will have to see, but from what the devs have shared with us and the information we have on the event so far, probably don’t think you will get all these different rewards fast because it might take a little bit of time.
Final Thoughts and Encouragement
With that being said, I really hope that for those of you who are interested in the event, you will be able to enjoy it and hopefully have the time to unlock all the different tiers and to get all the different rewards before they are gone. Personally, I’m going to try and see if I like it or not, but maybe it’s not really for me. I don’t know. Anyway, I think it’s worth a try, and who knows, maybe it’s going to be a really cool system, and everyone is going to love it.
