Power Leveling and Item Discovery

HomeDiablo 4Guides – Power Leveling and Item Discovery

My Level 69 character isn’t a start of a joke. Actually, it was already at level 65 when it found an 800-plus item power weapon which literally quadrupled my damage. The good thing is, you can quickly and easily drop something like this for yourself. There are certain mobs in the game that on World Tier 4 can drop up to 850 item power, which is impossible to find anywhere else since 820 is the normal item power limit you can’t exceed. An item with 850 item power, especially a weapon, will scale your damage even more.

Ultra Rare Items Characteristics

Here’s a caveat though: these ultra-rare items always drop with only three stats. Now, you might think that’s useless. Indeed, on a ring, chest, amulet, and other such items, it’s somewhat useless because three stats instead of four is generally undesirable. However, when it comes to weapons, the situation looks vastly different.

Item Stats and Damage Dynamics

For example, the highest item I’ve found so far is 830 on a wand. It’s level 100 because I found it with a character around level 100, but you can drop up to 850 from level 73 roughly. This particular wand has stats like 353 to end, 23 damage to distant enemies, and 16.5 ultimate skill damage. While you can reroll one of these three stats to enhance it, it’s crucial to understand the game’s damage dynamics.

There are various damage buckets, with one being your base damage. Everything else, like overpower damage, vulnerable, and critical strike damage, is added multiplicatively to the base, enhancing your total output significantly.

Finding and Farming Elites Efficiently

So, where do you find these elite mobs, and how do you farm them efficiently? And which item is genuinely worth it for your class? I will provide an example for The Necromancer and will also point out where to find every single other item, evaluating if it might be useful or not.

Regional Elite Distribution

It’s important to know that every region, like Azarkazistan, Dry Steps, etc., has four of these elite mobs. For instance, one is located above Kavishan. I will show you an interactive map highlighting every single spot, and share another dirty little secret that these items possess, enhancing your gaming experience as you approach them on the mini-map.

Recognizing Ultra Elite Mobs

Typically, as you approach, you’d see a white star lighting up on the mini map, indicating an ultra-elite mob nearby. Familiarizing yourself with these signals will allow you to recognize and target these mobs efficiently without wasting time searching blindly.

Interactive Map Overview

Because there’s an interactive map that gives you the current position. Now I only dropped a sacred version, which sadly has an item power of 682 with Shadow damage over time and a lucky hit. Though the lucky hit is useless, swords like this one generally have higher base item power than daggers due to their slightly slower attack speed.

Farming Strategy

Farming this guy takes time as the respawn duration ranges from five to ten minutes. A quicker alternative is to teleport out and in again, sometimes encountering him ten times consecutively with each teleport, which is quite efficient.

This strategy worked well with other characters I farmed. Sometimes, you might get lucky with multiple respawns happening sequentially. Another option is to log out and log back in, but this is risky because these mobs are highly sought after, and someone else might kill them in the meantime.

Item Modification

The most crucial and intriguing part about these items is that you can imprint any aspect on them and upgrade them to legendary status. However, it’s advisable not to upgrade them to legendary immediately. Changing stats, for example, from lucky hit chance to slow, involves costs like six gold, Forgotten Souls, and Veiled Crystals.

Stat Re-rolling

If you find an item, especially those with extremely high item power like 850, you can keep re-rolling its stats until you achieve the desired combination and value. For instance, for a maximum minion life low roll, you can continuously re-roll until you get a maximum minion life. This continuous re-rolling is possible for items with an item power of 820 as well.

Critical Tips

It’s important to approach re-rolling cautiously, aiming for precise stats that enhance your gameplay. With items of significant power, you have the flexibility to keep re-rolling until you attain exactly the stats you desire, optimizing for maximum life, willpower, or any other attribute that suits your playing style.

Unique Monster Guide

I roll, and it will potentially just cost me a bunch of Forgotten Souls, but these Forgotten Souls I can easily reform in Hell-tied areas. However, finding those unique monsters is a challenge. I could walk you through probably every single position of where they are, but let’s be honest, that’s tedious.

For a more straightforward approach, the Fixture Life Wikipedia provides an interactive map where you can mark unique enemies. There are 20 throughout the map.

Item Information

One common issue is that while many sources show you the name of the items, like the Necklace of Inevitability dropped by both Hack the Inevitable (located near the Onyx Watchtower), they don’t actually provide the stats. Unlike these sources, the Fixture Live Wiki allows you to click on an item name to view its stats.

For example, Otak the Invisible drops the Necklace of Inevitability, which offers critical strike chance against injured enemies, damage reduction while injured, and healing received.

Item Examples

While the Necklace of Inevitability isn’t particularly impressive, there are far superior items available for different classes. Barbarians might be interested in the Infernal Edge, a two-handed sword dropped by a super unique monster in the Scarred Coast. The sword boosts all stats, offers damage to injured enemies, and has a lucky hit chance, up to a 12% chance to execute non-elite injured enemies. With the right rolls and adjustments, this item can be very powerful.

Specific Items for Classes

For Shadow Necromancers, the Dark Blade is optimal, providing shadow damage and damage to those affected by shadow damage over time. With re-rolls into Critical Strike Damage or Vulnerable Damage, it can be a significant asset. Similarly, the Quince’s Captivating Eye can be decent, especially with maximum roll into Indian life, providing a bonus to Lucky Chance and cooldown reduction.

Cooldown Reduction Details

Cooldown reduction might seem unnecessary since the game already offers plenty of it, but with items like the Quince’s Captivating Eye, you can achieve even faster cooldowns, enhancing your gameplay and making your character more efficient and powerful in battles.

Item Enhancement Tips

Toleration is useless, so if you get a low roll, that’s completely fine. A little bonus piece of knowledge: should you by chance drop one of these items early as a rare and you can only upgrade it three times, that kind of stings.

Well, there’s a way to salvage this. It can be upgraded three times; more is not possible. Yet, you bring it to the occultist, put it in here, and now you could imprint any kind of aspect—sacred, legendary aspect—and boom, suddenly you could upgrade it five times.

Upgrading Aspects

You can put on an ancestral aspect to turn an item into an ancestral one, so don’t worry if you find it as a rare. If you have a sacred aspect lying around, you could early just upgrade it. Although we also have a normal legendary aspect, please note that normal legendary aspects wouldn’t do the trick yet. Turning a rare into a sacred or even into an ancestral is absolutely possible.

Maximizing Upgrades

You can then upgrade items five times instead of three, which is ideal for salvaging a very good high-roll item that you don’t want to let go. Here’s a heads up: you can’t downgrade an item, so don’t worry if you have already dropped some absolutely high-level Ultra rares.

Personal Experience

The highest I have found so far is 830. For me personally, after killing Quinn roughly 15 times, I was lucky to get a respawn spree and encounter her like eight times in a row by teleporting out and in again. This was a nice experience, but it’s essential to share what you have found personally.
