Leveling Made Easy WoW SoD Phase 2 Speed Leveling Guide

Yo, what is up, guys? Librarian Husky here, and today we’re talking about everything leveling to level as quickly as possible. If you level extremely fast, you can maximize your lockouts, get into the STV event, and dominate with that level 40. Of course, you’re going to be able to farm far more gold than everybody else in the game.

Maximizing Leveling Speed

We’re going to talk about everything from the buffs, the consumables, the runes—everything you need to level as quickly as possible. We’re also going to be entering the ultimate question of whether you should be open-world leveling or dungeon leveling in phase two. This article is going to rocket up your leveling speed.

So, let’s get right into it. We’ll start with buffs and consumables and then move into runes. Finally, we’ll finish off with the best leveling methods.

Essential Buffs and Consumables

The biggest buff you need, no matter what your level, is Boon or the Black Fathom. The reason Boon is so valuable is the increased hit chance of spells, which is incredibly beneficial when fighting higher-level enemies. Another significant advantage is the flat 20% increased movement speed, which greatly aids in questing.

Another essential buff is Spark of Inspiration, obtainable in either Orgrimmar or Iron Forge. It’s a remarkable buff for casters, offering increased Critical Strike and 42 spell damage. In addition to these two world buffs, the Darkmoon Faire buff is something you can’t overlook: a 10% damage increase for 2 hours significantly boosts leveling speed.

There are also numerous new consumables available to accelerate your leveling. For instance, Lesser Wizard Oil is often overlooked, but it provides a significant advantage with 16 spell damage that persists through death, enhancing your kill speed. New potions, like the Lesser Arcane Elixir, offer further benefits. One last consumable worth mentioning is the 8% minor move speed enhancement to boots. Despite its current high cost, it’s a valuable investment for your best pair of boots.

Leveling Strategy and Rested XP

On top of these buffs, there are also XP buffs you can get. The biggest priority is the sleeping bag quest line, but the quest took me only about 30 minutes. As your reward, you get a sleeping bag that gives you up to a 3% XP bonus. You also get eight food items that give you four rested XP bars each. What I recommend is to save these foods until Level 38 to maximize the rested XP gained. Speaking of rested XP, though, you’ve got to log into your alts and start gaining that rested XP. Don’t pull a Jerome and forget to do that for like 4 days. With your buffs sorted out, the next thing you need to do is to focus on your leveling strategy.

Optimizing Runes for Leveling

For maximum leveling speed, it’s crucial to grab all your new runes. As a priest, obtaining Empowered Renew was a significant advantage in dungeons. Similarly, for our bear, acquiring Berserk early on transformed him into an AoE (Area of Effect) powerhouse.

The most straightforward method to access your new runes is through the Rested XP Rune Guide, available for free on CurseForge. When I was aiming to obtain the Renewed Hope Rune, I simply selected it from the “Waste” category. The guide then provided clear directions, marked by an arrow, to guide me through each necessary step.

I have been utilizing Rested XP for more than two years. With the recent major update for the Season of Discovery, Rested XP has become an official sponsor. This development is exciting because it means their guides have become even more user-friendly and efficient. The use of Rested XP was instrumental in achieving the eighth Neron clear and securing a top position globally for our Horde team.

Leveling Strategies: Questing vs. Dungeons

Alright, so we’ve got the runes, the buffs, the consumables, and now we’ve got to decide how to maximize our leveling speed. In my experience, questing with a really good route is about the same speed as dungeons. However, the significant concern is PvP ganks which can slow down the leveling process considerably. For our leveling strategy, we opted for dungeon leveling. I highly recommend using a detailed spreadsheet that outlines the expected XP gains from dungeon runs. This resource can be invaluable in planning your leveling journey.

After initially questing from levels 1 to 27, we shifted our focus to dungeon runs, prioritizing Razorfen Kraul (RFK) until level 29. Upon reaching level 29, we began to frequently run the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard (SM Graveyard). After advancing to about level 31, we started to alternate between SM Graveyard and SM Library to optimize our experience gains. As we approached levels 34 and 35, we added the Scarlet Monastery Armory to our dungeon rotation and phased out the Graveyard runs. To complete our leveling strategy, we alternated between Armory and Cathedral runs until we reached level 40, ensuring a steady and efficient progression through these levels.

Level Boosts and Alternative Strategies

While this is sort of against the spirit of the Season of Discovery somewhat, it is worth mentioning that level boosts, with the new 50% experience bonus, are a whole lot cheaper and a whole lot faster. You could actually enter RFC at level 8 or even Stockades at level 15. And of course, the sleeping bag works with your boost as well. I don’t want to spoil your Phase 2 leveling experience, but there are even Cathedral boosts that have already been invented. These are going to be an extremely strong option for alt leveling. So, at this point, you should have all the tools to hit 40 extremely fast: the buffs, the runes, the leveling route.

Personal Leveling Experience and Future Plans

I’ve got to ask: have you hit Level 40 yet? And if you did, how did you primarily do it? From dungeon leveling or open-world leveling? Like I said, I did dungeon spam, but I do plan to quest for my next two characters. After all, I want to hit my raid lockouts as quickly as I can, but I don’t want my brain to melt in Scarlet Monastery. And speaking of the raid, if you want to dominate Neron and maximize your success against all the bosses, check out my Neron tips next.
