Hello, boys and girls, It’s your Librarian Husky. I am going to teach you everything from the basic tricks all the way to the secret behind landing every shot. For instance, did you know you can’t charge the one shot from a cloak during her ultimate? The reason you never seem to be able to one-shot the cloak is because you don’t charge the passive from someone else first.

Mastering Hawkeye’s Techniques

Staying alive is the hardest part of Hawkeye. So let’s start with the defenses. Hawkeye’s melee is easily the most undervalued skill in Marvel Rivals. It blocks things like the Luna Freeze, Squirrel Girl’s root, Baky’s hook, the Spiderman‘s attacks, and even Richard’s grab. You only need to block one of Richard’s two arms. It also breaks things like the ank and the cloak’s blinding wall. Additionally, it blocks almost every bullet in the game, saving me multiple times every match and making me much tankier in general.

Deflecting is extremely difficult, especially with the default key binds. Bind Hawkeye’s melee to right-click to make blocking much easier. Just think of deflecting like Captain America’s shield. You’re holding right-click to block damage – it’s not more complicated than that. While many hits will get through, your goal is to reduce the amount of hits you take. Start by focusing on spamming deflect when running away from enemies to build reflexes that automatically make you right-click whenever heavy damage is incoming.

Double jump is your main way of escaping from sticky situations and can help counter many opposing heroes. For instance, Panthers need you to stay on the ground for their dashes, but double jumping can disrupt their strategy. Knocking back Spider-Man after he pulls himself in renders him useless against Hawkeye. Mastering this trick will ensure Spider-Man never gets you.

Enhancing Defensive Strategies

To improve your defensive strategies with Hawkeye, mastering the art of Deflecting and utilizing Double jumps effectively is crucial. Deflecting can be challenging, especially with default key binds, so binding Hawkeye’s melee to right-click is recommended. This simple change can significantly enhance your blocking capabilities by making it easier to reduce incoming damage. Think of deflecting like using Captain America’s shield – hold right-click to block damage and focus on minimizing the hits you take.

Practice spamming deflect when evading enemies to develop reflexes that prompt you to right-click automatically when anticipating heavy damage. Double jump serves as a key escape mechanism and can disrupt the strategies of opposing heroes like Panthers who rely on grounded combat. Additionally, mastering the knockback technique against Spider-Man can effectively neutralize his threat, ensuring Hawkeye’s safety during encounters.

Mastering the Bow

Also, make sure you’re spamming deflect when running away since every web cluster is worth 75 damage. Oh, and as an added bonus, knockback also drops every flying hero from the sky. But uh, going back to double jump, stop being lazy. Just humble down and take the stairs. There are so many spots where you could have saved your double jump. But yeah, in general, there’s such a huge amount of useful spots that I’ll just make a full guide on them in the future. But what I will say though is there’s elevator mechanics in most maps that let you get to high grounds, especially on the Zumbi map. There is zero excuse to be yolo jumping onto the high grounds.

Also, a while back the one-shot range was nerfed to 40 m, but just like with the cloak trick, if you charge your shot from a closer target first, you can still one-shot at any distance. And then next up, we have the no-aim alternative, Blast arrows. Blast arrows have been buffed like five times now, but I’ve still never seen anyone else use them. And I assume it’s because of pride. At close range, your choice of arrow should depend on how confident you are in landing that headshot. Um, what a segma. Sometimes it’s just better to swallow your pride and start blasting.

So, yeah, the main reason why it feels so difficult to figure out when to use blast arrows is just because it kind of works in every situation. But uh, there are some cases where blast arrows are just way better. Oh, with normal arrows, you’re going to have a hard time dealing with squids, but uh, blast arrows will clear them instantly. They destroy most basic buildables in one shot. And they are also Jeff’s worst nightmare. Even underground, all three explosions are going to easily hit him. And the explosion range is huge, so you can even finish off targets that are hiding behind cover. And in general, you can hit all three explosions from surprisingly far away.

The only reason you would care about being in melee range is to also hit all three direct hits. But keep in mind, if you don’t charge the bow, you lose a tiny bit of direct hit damage. But either way, blast arrows are always a safe bet against the divers. Oh, blast arrows are just way easier to hit dive heroes with and can kind of be used from behind corners as well. So, combined with your defense abilities, you become the dive counter. And just in case you didn’t know, if you wait a bit between shots, the used blast arrows will start recharging. [Laughter]

And then it’s time for ice arrow, the craziest ability in the game.

Arrow Abilities and Ultimate in Marvel Rivals

I just froze everyone. So ice arrow is the new team up, and it will freeze anyone who is at least 30 m away. It’s a 20-second cooldown, so you should be able to permanently delete one support from the game. How is that fair, bro? That’s all I can say. It deals enough damage that an uncharged headshot will finish off the target.

Alternatively, if you can charge the arrow, then you only need a body shot to get that free pick. Also, a notification should pop up in this corner if it’s nerfed already. But anyways, since it even goes through walls and has unlimited range, you can just freeze the guy holding up the shield and then headshot the squishy behind him. Is that my arrow?

The hypersonic arrow doesn’t one-shot during ultimate anymore. So, it’s basically just a budget version of ice arrow. It slows enemies instead of freezing, knocks enemies out of the sky if you hit the second tick. It is very handy for dealing damage through shields, but a body shot plus hypersonic arrow deals almost enough damage to even one-shot 275 HP targets. So, it’s best used right after a difficult shot to make sure you get that kill even if you miss a headshot.

The Hawkeyee’s ultimate gives you 50% attack speed and locks the passive at 100%. This lets you dish out insane damage, even against ultimates and such, but it’s also the buggiest and the most confusing ability in Marvel Rivals. It’s supposed to create ghosts that you can body shot to deal damage to the real targets. But if the target is already behind cover, sometimes the ghosts don’t take damage anymore.

Also, Hawkeye aims with his balls instead of eyeballs. So make sure your crotch has visibility to the enemies. Otherwise, the ghosts just won’t appear. I had to learn this the hard way. Like, no pun intended. Where are the ghosts, bro? But anyways, if the player goes behind a wall for even a moment, the ghost disappear in roughly a second. But sometimes you get lucky and they don’t disappear.

In terms of the blast arrows, each explosion can only hit one ghost. So always make sure you’re hitting the player to get that double damage. But going for that melee range one shot is just way too risky and not really worth it.

Dealing with Divers in the Game

Better to just keep your distance and go for a second shot if the first one is not enough. Let’s talk a tiny bit more about divers. There‘s some creep on me. Hell yeah. Fighting multiple divers at once is just not something you’re designed to do. So, don’t tell your healers about this one, but uh the best way to deal with dive is to hide until they go on your teammates. You’re just peeling for your healers, okay? Like, it’s completely fine.

But to be honest, the only dangerous tank is Captain America. He’s the only one who can still keep up after you use knockback and double jump. And you really don’t want to shoot normal arrows at the shield from melee range. Blast arrows are safer, and three should be enough to bring his shield down if he takes any damage from someone else.

Also, Captain’s first two hits are melee, but the third and fourth are ranged. So, just by spamming deflect, you can block half of his damage. Other than that, you kind of just hope you’re close enough to your team to get some heals. I ain’t going to sugarcoat it. Iron Fist is the hardest matchup. The double jump and knock back are completely useless against him. Blast arrows are the best bet, but uh if you hit his block, you’re pretty much done for. So, even if he’s the only diver, hiding until he goes on someone else is the best choice. Otherwise, you’re really going to have to trust your healers.

Countering Specific Divers and Supports

Psylock is easily countered by just being ready for her. So, as long as you’re wearing headphones, you should be able to hear Psylock’s poof sound. The advanced version is to pretend to go forward and then reverse right as she strikes, but even just spamming deflect or using your defensive cooldowns is easily enough.

Moving on to the supports, you already know the cloak and dagger trick. With a little bit of practice, you will easily learn to hit her during that brief moment after a dash where she is completely still. You could also, of course, just pop your own ultimate to get that permanent 100% charge. Luna’s arms can block the head hitbox during her ultimate, so it’s safer to just try to headshot someone else. There we go.

Improving Aim with Right-hand Peeking

I got one at least. Mandy‘s hitbox is even worse, and she gives shields to everyone. But unlike Luna, she can be frozen, so it could be worth it to go for the combo and hope other people are focusing her down as well. Hawkeye ruins Loki’s life. You can easily one-tap his clones to get rid of 66% of his healing and damage.

Okay, so aiming tips can be a tiny bit difficult to understand, but what I’m about to tell you is extremely powerful. You have to figure this out. So, first of all, it’s a 100 times more difficult to hit shots on someone who expects it. And that’s why right-hand peeking makes Hawkeye so incredibly strong. It’s basically a legal wall hack.

For comparison, when you are left-hand peeking, this is what you see. So, as long as you keep the cover on your left side, you can see the enemies and even charge up your shots while staying completely hidden. And since you only peek for a split second, it’s extremely difficult to keep track of you. In general, it’s way easier to stay hidden than you even realize, but only if your enemies are busy with someone else.

And this is because small changes in your peripheral vision are very difficult to notice. So basically, the further something is from what you’re focusing on, the harder it is to notice. All this just makes right-hand peeking even stronger.

And if you think you’re better than these guys, how come you didn’t notice the changed text here? Or the John Cena hero icon? You probably didn’t even notice my face cam was frozen this whole time. Most players think that aim is all about how good you are at moving the mouse. But look at this.

I expect enemies to back up since we are pushing in. So I put my crosshair at head level and just wait until it looks like someone will run into my crosshair. Zero mouse movement. If you look closely at my gameplay, most of my misses are flicks, and most of my hits are me just waiting for someone to walk into my crosshair. It’s also very important to learn to use strafe movement to further reduce how much you have to move the mouse. Flicking should be saved for when you don’t have the time to aim properly. Like here, I put my crosshair in front of her, but she changes movement direction to avoid running into my shot, so I have to flick to catch her head.

Improving Aim Accuracy

Or like here, my crosshair is too low to hit her head, so I have to quickly flick upwards. Hitting targets who expect your shots is a whole guide in itself since you have to predict their prediction. Like, did the Luna see me here? And if she did, is she good enough to predict that? I predict she will turn around and go behind cover. So that’s anOther guide in the future. But yeah, shooting at players who expect it is something that even I avoid at all costs, and so should you.

Also, make sure you have the reticle animation on since the actual bow draw animation makes you think your shot is ready when in reality it’s only at around 75%. Other than that, the crosshair really isn’t that big of a deal.
