The solo carry list for 25.13 introduces some emerging champions, with Jax now among the top three for jungle and Mordekaiser making a comeback in the top lane. As always, we provide you with three of the strongest champions for each role as we approach 25.13.

The Solo Carry List for Patch 25.13

Mordekaiser has reclaimed his position as one of the top-performing top laners, especially in lower elos, securing a spot in the top three for 25.13. Recent buffs to Mordekaiser’s Q, with a 20-damage increase at max rank, have boosted his strength. With Yorick receiving consecutive nerfs, Mordekaiser emerges as a prime choice for players in Emerald and Below tiers.

Notably, Yorick was historically a challenging matchup for Mordekaiser, making the recent nerfs to Yorick highly beneficial for Mordekaiser players. Warwick poses another challenging matchup for Mordekaiser, requiring careful navigation; considering a ban on Warwick might be wise. In the Warwick matchup, opting for Ignite over an early Oblivion Orb is recommended to ensure a timely Rylai’s power spike.

Engaging in extended trades against Warwick is risky without Ignite due to his superior sustain. Mordekaiser’s core build typically includes a Rylai’s rush followed by Riftmaker and Liandry’s. Conqueror serves as the Keystone rune, complemented by Triumph, Haste, and Last Stand, with Bone Plating and Revitalize as secondary choices.

Set retains his position in the top three champions for yet another patch, asserting dominance as the premier fighter in the top lane for solo queue. Set’s strength lies in his early game prowess, with a formidable level one skirmish potential owing to his quick double auto-attacks from his passive. This advantage allows Set to outperform most champions, especially in lower ranks, making him a solid pick for aggressive plays even from the start of the game.

Solo Carry Top Laners

If you learn your matchups and learn the limits of Set, then you can climb incredibly fast by obtaining these early game advantages. Another factor that makes Set a great pick for solo Q is his meta build, providing him with an insane amount of tankiness and damage. This is the exact kind of build you want if you’re looking to escape the lower ranks because your margin for error is quite high. However, you still pack a massive punch.

Stridebreaker rush into Overlord’s Bloodmail second and Warmog’s third is the setup. All the health you get from this build is incredible synergy with the passive from Overlord’s that converts 2.5% of your bonus health into AD. Since you get 2,000 bonus health from the three-item core, that equates to giving you 50 bonus AD. So in total, Overlord’s Bloodmail is offering up 80 AD when you have three items, which is insane.

It’s really just ranged top lane champs who you can run into some issues against when picking Set. So using your ban on Vayne or Vlad is ideal. For Set’s rune page, you should be taking Conqueror with Triumph, Alacrity, and Last Stand followed by Second Wind and Overgrowth.

And for our third solo carry top laner of the patch, it’s going to be Kayle. Kayle and Set continue to be mainstays on the top lane solo carry list, and it’s for good reason. The thing about Kayle is that everyone knows her scaling power is top tier, but many don’t expect her early game all-in strength. Level one with Kayle is actually one of the strongest in the game due to the attack speed from her passive and attack speed you can stack up from Lethal Tempo.

Strompus did an amazing job at highlighting this in one of his recent commentaries. So, just to show you guys what’s possible, here’s the clip of him fighting Irelia at level one. “So, if I can find this guy before he gets to reach his wave, then I just win. So, here I’m just going to fight this guy cuz I know I win. I’m going to pop my potion a little bit early. I’m going to use my ether and then I have maxed axe from my passive and yeah, he’s just dead.” Can you imagine doing that to an Irelia as Kayle? Normally, no.

But if you know your champion’s limits, you can just do that. Irelia did not even expect that kind of damage coming out of Kayle and didn’t even end up flashing away. So, you will most certainly catch your opponents off guard by running this strategy in your own games, especially if you take Bone Plating and Runes. There are very few top lane champs who can beat you in an extended fight at level one. Jax is one of those champs where, because of his E being able to block your auto attacks, it’s kind of impossible to run this strategy against. So, using your ban on him is a good idea.

For the build on Kayle, you should be taking Nashor’s Tooth with Rabidons and Lich Bane as the core. Lethal Tempo and Press the Attack are both viable Keystone options for Kayle, as it more so depends on the matchup as to which you choose. If you’re confident in your ability to trade at level one, then going for Lethal Tempo is better.

Jungle Meta Shifts: Patch 25.13

But if you aren’t and think shorter trades are the way to go, then Press the Attack will be better value.

So, a new addition to the jungle top three for 25.13, seeing a really big boost in power from his 25.12 buff is Jax. Jax’s jungle is quite literally in a better spot than top lane Jax right now, and especially for ranks Emerald and below. He’s still not a bad pick in the higher elos either, but he does excel a lot more for the lower ELO. Jax is a pretty straightforward jungler in the sense that there’s not a whole lot of mechanical nuances that you have to learn with the pick. So, it won’t take you very long to start finding success on the champ.

Where Jax’s jungle really thrives is in those matchups where the enemy is relying on dealing damage with their auto attacks to win out. So, Master Yi, Xin Zhao, Graves, Viego, and Vi are all matchups that Jax has above a 53% win rate against, which is pretty absurd.

Champs that don’t need to auto attack and who can kite you around more easily are who you’ll want to try and avoid. So, Lillia is a good ban to consider. The meta build for Jax’s jungle revolves around Trinity Force into Sundered Sky second and Sterak’s Gage third. You should grab Lethal Tempo for the Keystone Rune with Triumph, Alacrity, and Last Stand, while Free Boots and Cosmic Insight are the best secondaries.

The Rise of Trundle

Another jungler who’s been slowly but surely garnering more attention lately and joining the top three for jungle is Trundle. Trundle has consistently had one of the highest win rates for any jungler over the past few patches, but it hasn’t been until this past patch or so that players are beginning to catch on. Despite play rate going up, Trundle’s win rate remains elevated.

So, it’s clear that his strength in meta is not being dictated by a select few one tricks propping up his win rate. Trundle has actually been a good jungler for a while now. It’s just taken players quite a long time to realize as he was originally buffed back in 25.7, and that’s what sparked his increase in power. The jungle meta right now is absolutely perfect for Trundle because we aren’t seeing many AP junglers dominating. The most played junglers in meta at the moment are Lee Sin, Viego, Nocturne, Xin Zhao, and Kayn, and Trundle can play into all of them very well.

Trundle’s Q steals his enemy’s attack damage. So playing into any heavier AD enemy comps makes Trundle skirmish very deadly. AP junglers who can kite you around and disrupt you in fights are the ones who will be more annoying to play against. So there’s value in banning out Nunu or Zac. The build for Trundle consists of a Trinity Force rush into Dead Man’s Plate second and Spirit Visage third.

Take Lethal Tempo for the Keystone Rune with Triumph, Alacrity, and Coup de Grace followed by Free Boots and Approach Velocity for secondaries.

So if there’s ever been a time to give Lee Sin a shot and add him to your champion pool, right now is the time. We were actually kind of shocked that Lee Sin didn’t get nerfed for 25.13 because he had held a very high win rate and the highest play rate for any jungler in high elo throughout last patch.

Trundle and Jax are without question two of the strongest low elo junglers right now. But for the higher ranks, it’s Lee Sin. With Lee, it’s very important that your early game decision-making is on point, as you really want to get off to a good start on the champ. Something you should be doing in every single game is analyzing which lanes will give you the highest percent chance of landing a kill when you gank for them.

Challenger Jungler’s Strategic Insights

Before every game starts, our challenger jungler, Import, meticulously plans his strategy. In his recent game on Lee Sin, he aims to influence the bot lane early to gain an advantage. Import assesses the matchups, noting Mundo’s strength against Kayle but identifying bot lane as the key area for action. Import recommends a specific build for Lee Sin, prioritizing Eclipse, Sundered Sky, and Black Cleaver. His choice of Conqueror’s Keystone Rune with Triumph, Alacrity, and Coup de Grace, along with secondary Runes of Free Boots and Cosmic Insight, demonstrates his focus on early game dominance. Import suggests considering banning Pantheon due to the unfavorable matchup that limits Lee Sin’s effectiveness in skirmishes.

In the evolving meta, Twisted Fate emerges as a potent mid laner, despite a slight nerf in his R cooldown. Import highlights the importance of building Twisted Fate with Rocket Belt rush instead of Rod of Ages, emphasizing the significant catch potential and improved win rates associated with this approach. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each champion, as well as the impact of itemization choices, can significantly impact game outcomes.

Twisted Fate Build and Strategy

If you have your Rocket belt completed and then swap teleport for ghost in the mid game, there’s very little counterplay for enemies to avoid getting hit by your gold card. We actually have a perfect example of this from our challenger mid laner Shri playing this exact setup in one of his latest commentaries. So, let’s have a look.

The full build for Twisted Fate right now consists of a Rocket Belt Rush into Lich Bane second and Rapid Firecannon third. For the rune page, you want Unsealed Spellbook with cashback, biscuits, and Jack of all trades, while bone plating and unflinching are for secondaries. And then to round out the top three for 25.13, we’ve got Vex.

Vex – The Solo Q Powerhouse

Vex is an incredibly powerful solo Q mid laner because her ability to instantly shove out a wave and play for flanks is amazing. In the mid game, you can just one-shot side waves with all three of your spells and then look for flank opportunities towards mid lane. This is where Vex is at her best because when you’re playing from flank angles, you will be positioned in the fog of war, which makes landing your R so much easier due to enemies having less time to reactively dodge.

At the very least, you should consider adding Vex to your champion pool as a counter pick because she’s the best counterpick mid in the entire game. You just don’t see these kinds of egregious matchup stats for any other mid laner as Vex wins over 55% of the time into LeBlanc, Sylas, Akali, Katarina, and Yone. Basically any mid laner who has a dash, Vex is going to play pretty well into because of the fact your passive gains more value when up against champs who dash.

A good ban when picking Vex right now is Twisted Fate as his point-and-click stuns makes it more difficult for you to play out skirmishes. The build for Vex consists of a Luden’s Rush into Storm Surge second and Zhonya’s or Rabadon’s third.

You want Electrocute for the Keystone Rune with Taste of Blood, Grizzly Momentos and Ultimate Hunter, while Manaflow and Transcendence are for secondaries.

Sivir – The Underrated ADC

An ADC that everyone should have in their champion pool right now, especially if you are Emerald or below, is Sivir. After receiving repeated buffs, Sivir has climbed back into a great spot for solo Q, but she’s still highly underrated relative to where her pick rate is at.

What makes Sivir especially good for the average player is that it’s so easy to achieve high CS scores with a champ. Q and W allow for Sivir to insta clear waves. And if you’re someone who’s below Emerald right now and are looking to climb, aiming to hit over 8 CS per minute should be your goal on Sivir and will have you ranking up in no time. This is something that we notice holds back so many low elo ADCs, as many of them will be hitting five or six CS per minute. So if you can get that up to eight, you’ll have a massive gold advantage on your opponent.

The meta build you need to be running on Sivir revolves around a Galeforce Rush into Infinity Edge second and Navori Quickblades third. Galeforce into IE just feels so broken on Sivir because the amount of upfront burst you can deal is amazing with Q hitting extremely hard. And then for the rune page you want Lethal Tempo with Presence of Mind, Bloodline, and Cutdown while Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm are for secondaries.

There isn’t really a specific ADC you have to worry about banning when picking Sivir. So using your ban on a meta dive champ who is hard for you to peel like Jarvan or Nocturne is a good idea. The top tier ADCs have stayed very consistent for a while now as Jinx continues to dominate. For as long as Galeforce remains in a strong spot and Jinx isn’t directly nerfed, she’s going to maintain her high standing in meta. You just feel so powerful on your two-item spike with Jinx and can really take over in the mid game.

Jinx and Tristana: ADC Powerhouses

The entire setup is just so perfect because you get a ton of damage with the heavy AD and crit from Galeforce and Infinity Edge while running Lethal Tempo and runes and procing the Gale passive provides that much-needed attack speed. Jinx is one of the best pure solo carry ADCs because of her passive and how it can completely unlock the champion to quite literally 1v5 a fight. The only bigger downside to Jinx is that she is vulnerable to that initial long-range engage due to lacking a gap closer. So banning out Jarvan or Nocturne is a good idea.

For your rune page on Jinx, grab Lethal Tempo with Presence of Mind, Bloodline, and Cutdown, while Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm are for secondaries. And then with 25.13 being such a small patch, there’s not going to be any shakeup to the top three for ADC as we have Tristana rounding it out. Tristana is a really good solo carry ADC because she offers up a lot of agency. This can be a double-edged sword at times, but once you understand Trist’s limits, it’s going to bring more good than bad.

The catch and burst power of Trist is incredible, and this allows her to be way more proactive than the majority of ADCs. Punishing situations like if the enemy support walks away to ward or if the enemy ADC wastes a key cooldown on the wave is so easy to do when playing Tristana.
