LoL Duo Rank Calculator 2025
League of Legends Solo/Duo queue uses rank restrictions to control which players can enter the same ranked lobby. The rules are not the same across every tier, so checking the full ladder is faster than guessing from one rank difference.
Select your current rank in the calculator. The result shows the ranks that can queue with you under the Solo/Duo rules used for this 2025 version. You can also copy the displayed list when you need to send it to a friend.
Why Solo/Duo rank limits exist
Rank restrictions help keep matchmaking closer to the level of the players in the lobby. Without limits, a high-ranked player could regularly queue with a much lower-ranked friend and create uneven games.
- They reduce large rank gaps in ranked matchmaking.
- They limit unfair pairings between distant tiers.
- They apply stricter rules near the top of the ladder.
These limits can be frustrating when two friends want to play together. The calculator gives a quick answer before either player enters the queue.
Solo/Duo rank compatibility by tier
The permitted ranks depend on the selected tier and, in some cases, the division within that tier. The broad rule groups below explain how the calculator organizes the results.
Iron, Bronze, and Silver duo rules
Iron, Bronze, and Silver players can generally queue with players up to two tiers higher. The exact result can still depend on the selected division, so use the calculator for the complete list instead of relying only on the broad tier rule.
Gold and Platinum duo rules
Gold and Platinum players usually remain within one tier above or below their current position. A Gold player may be able to queue with Silver, Gold, or Platinum players, depending on the division shown by the calculator.
Emerald and Diamond duo rules
Emerald and Diamond have tighter compatibility rules than the lower tiers. The allowed range can cross divisions within nearby tiers, so the selected division matters. Check the result list before inviting a player from another tier.
Master, Grandmaster, and Challenger rules
The highest ranks have the strictest Solo/Duo limits. Master has a limited set of compatible ranks, while Grandmaster and Challenger are treated as Solo-only in the calculator rules. If no duo ranks appear, the selected rank cannot queue with a partner in this mode.
How to use the duo rank calculator
- Open the rank selector.
- Choose your current rank and division.
- Review the compatible ranks shown below.
- Copy the result if you want to share it.
The visual ladder makes the result easier to scan. Allowed ranks are highlighted, while ranks outside the permitted range are separated from the result. This is useful when your duo partner is close to a tier boundary.
Division boundaries and special cases
A simple “one tier apart” rule does not cover every Solo/Duo case. The calculator checks divisions inside the main tiers and applies special handling where the rank boundary changes the result.
This matters most around Emerald and Diamond, and at the transition into Master. Two players may look close on the ladder but still have different queue options. Always select the exact rank rather than only the tier name.
Grandmaster and Challenger are also treated differently from most other ranks. The calculator marks these positions as Solo-only instead of listing ordinary duo partners.
Solo/Duo versus Flex queue
Solo/Duo and Flex use different queue rules. This calculator is for Solo/Duo compatibility and should not be used as a Flex queue reference.
- In Flex, Diamond and lower can play together without the same rank limits.
- For Flex at Master and above, all players must be Emerald or higher.
- Solo/Duo uses the stricter compatibility list shown by this calculator.
If you cannot queue with a friend in Solo/Duo, Flex may be an alternative when its own requirements are met.
Common duo rank calculator questions
Can I check a friend’s rank?
Yes. Select your own rank first, then compare the displayed list with your friend’s current rank and division.
Does the division matter?
Yes. Division details can change the allowed range, especially near Emerald, Diamond, and the highest ranks. Choose the closest exact option available.
Does this calculator work for Flex queue?
No. It is designed for League of Legends Solo/Duo queue. Flex has separate rank requirements.
Why are no duo ranks shown?
The selected rank may be Solo-only under the calculator’s 2025 rules. This can occur for Grandmaster and Challenger selections.
Are these rules permanent?
Ranked queue rules can change. This page is labeled for the 2025 rules, so check for an updated version if Riot changes Solo/Duo restrictions.
Check before you queue
Choose your rank, review the compatible results, and confirm your duo partner before starting matchmaking. A quick check can prevent an unnecessary queue attempt and make it clear whether Solo/Duo or Flex is the better option.
