How the LoL Duo Rank Calculator works
Select your current League of Legends rank from the list. The calculator then shows the ranks that can queue with you in Solo/Duo. The result uses rank tiers and divisions, so the answer can change between nearby ranks.
Use the result before starting a queue. You can also copy the displayed list and send it to your duo partner. If no compatible rank is shown, the selected pair is not available under the calculator’s rule set.
Solo/Duo rank rules shown by the calculator
Solo/Duo restrictions are not the same across every part of the ranked ladder. Lower and mid-tier ranks usually have more room between players, while the upper ladder uses tighter limits.
- Iron, Bronze, and Silver: the displayed rules allow duo partners across a wider tier range, with the exact result depending on the selected division.
- Gold and Platinum: the calculator shows partners within the nearby rank range allowed by the current rules.
- Emerald and Diamond: division distance matters more, so not every rank inside these tiers can queue together.
- Master: the displayed rule set allows only specific high-rank partners, including Master and Diamond I.
- Grandmaster and Challenger: the calculator marks these ranks as Solo-only when no duo option is available.
Because restrictions can depend on both tier and division, checking the exact rank is more reliable than using a general rule such as “one tier apart.”
Why rank compatibility can be confusing
League of Legends rank names do not tell the whole story. A player in Emerald or Diamond may need to check the division gap, while a Master player may have a much smaller list of possible partners. The same broad tier can therefore produce different results for different divisions.
High-rank restrictions are especially easy to misread. Grandmaster and Challenger may appear close to Master on the ladder, but the displayed Solo/Duo rules can treat them differently. Use the calculator’s result instead of relying on an old screenshot or a remembered queue rule.
Solo/Duo queue compared with Flex queue
This calculator is focused on Solo/Duo compatibility. Flex queue follows a different set of restrictions and may allow a wider mix of ranks.
- For Diamond and below, the supplied rule reference describes Flex as having no rank restrictions between players.
- For Master and above, the supplied rule reference states that all Flex players must be Emerald or higher.
Flex can be worth considering when you and a friend cannot enter Solo/Duo together. It is not a way to change the Solo/Duo result; it is a separate queue with its own conditions.
Best way to use the calculator before queueing
- Check the current rank and division of both players.
- Select one player’s rank in the calculator.
- Compare the result with the other player’s exact rank.
- If the rank is listed, invite the player to Solo/Duo.
- If it is not listed, check whether Flex is suitable for your group.
This quick check is useful after a promotion or demotion, when a division changes and the previous duo combination may no longer work.
FAQ about LoL duo rank restrictions
Can two different ranks play Solo/Duo together?
Sometimes. Eligibility depends on both ranks and divisions. Select the exact rank in the calculator to see whether the other player is allowed.
Does Diamond use special duo rules?
Yes. The displayed rules use division distance for Emerald and Diamond, so the full rank matters instead of the tier name alone.
Can Grandmaster and Challenger players duo?
The calculator’s displayed rule set marks Grandmaster and Challenger as Solo-only for this queue.
Is Flex queue the same as Solo/Duo?
No. Flex has separate rank conditions. It may allow combinations that are not available in Solo/Duo.
Does the calculator check my account?
No. It compares the rank you select with the displayed queue rules. It does not access your account or verify a live rank.
Check your duo eligibility
Select your rank above to see the allowed Solo/Duo partners. Checking first can prevent a failed invite and make it clear when Flex queue is the better choice.
