Hey there, Dota 2 fans! It’s Librarian Husky here, bringing you the latest offlane tier list update. Whether you’re looking for the best offlane picks or trying to avoid some of the weaker choices, we’ve got you covered. Let’s dive into the breakdown of the heroes, from those that dominate to the ones that are struggling in the current patch. Stay tuned, and let’s see how your favorite offlaners stack up!
Batrider’s Weaknesses in Public Games
I think it’s personally overvalued. It’s mainly valued at the highest level for its ability to win the lane. It wins the lane and then it stuns, but honestly, that’s kind of all it does. Some people take Arsonist and push buildings, which is cool and honestly kind of practical. It’s maybe my favorite way to play the hero, but man, if you play this hero in pubs and you don’t know what you’re doing, you are going to have literally no impact.
Batrider’s Challenges in Scaling and Fighting
You have to dominate your lane. If you don’t, you’re going to feel awful. Its fighting is difficult, and its scaling is hard. If you don’t manage to control the early game, it’s going to be a rough experience playing Batrider.

Offlane Hero Recommendations
I don’t recommend picking Brewmaster. It’s really sad to see him here because this is one of my favorite offlaners in the game. When I reached the top 100 in Europe, I was largely playing Brewmaster. However, this hero got nerfed in every possible way. His innate abilities were weakened, his ultimate got destroyed, and the Vessel item he likes to buy was nerfed. Everything about Brewmaster just feels bad now.
Beastmaster’s Decline
Then we have Beastmaster. His win rate is terrible at 45%. I think this is mainly due to the difficulty in execution and gameplay. Both his AGS and Helmdon builds are equally mediocre in power, making it hard to scale into the late game with him. The execution required is very tight—like Sand King, but 30 times harder. The payoff just isn’t worth the effort.
Mars’ Performance in Average Games
Next up in the C tier, we have Mars. This hero can be really good at a high level due to his no-vision ultimate, which is quite powerful. However, in average public games, Mars needs a lot of synergy with his team. Without it, his bad scaling makes him a subpar hero.
Doom’s Surprising Placement
Lastly, we have Doom. I can’t believe I had to put him in the S tier, but he’s performing much better than expected. Despite his simplicity, Doom remains a consistent and reliable offlaner in most games.
I think for the pro scene, Doom is more of a B-tier hero. It’s likely a mid-B tier hero for high MMR players, but for the average player, Doom just performs poorly. Every time I watch Doom or check the win rate, it’s consistently bad. Unless this hero is disgustingly broken, it struggles. Despite being one of the best scaling heroes in the game, people tend to fight too much, especially when Doom is on cooldown or in the early game, where he isn’t effective.
Doom’s Misuse in Public Games
Unfortunately, Doom is a farming hero, and if you play him like a standard offlaner, which many do, you’re just going to feed. Players often mistake him for a tank, but that’s not his role. He requires a more methodical approach, yet in pubs, people rush in and fail to maximize his strengths.
Pangolier’s Nerfs and Challenges
Next, we have Pangolier. It’s a solid offlaner, but the hero has been repeatedly nerfed due to its strength in the pro scene. It’s been weakened in four or five patches in a row, making it a tough pick for average players. Already difficult in terms of mechanics and scaling, Pangolier’s performance in public games is now even more challenging.
Primal Beast’s High Skill Requirement
Primal Beast is similar to its mid-lane counterpart. This hero is extremely hard to play, with a mediocre laning stage and challenging scaling. While a Shiva’s Guard and level 20 talent provide a good timing, if you don’t execute perfectly and click all your buttons correctly, you’ll do nothing and get kited.
Dawn Breaker’s Rare Appearance
Lastly, we have Dawn Breaker. I rarely see this hero picked. While it’s a fine Aura buyer, especially in certain matchups, it has become almost a niche pick. It has potential, but it’s simply not prominent in the current meta.
Tidehunter’s Decline
I just haven’t seen this hero in forever. Tidehunter seems to have fallen out of favor, and it’s hard to find anyone playing him nowadays. I’m pretty sure Tidehunter is just a bad hero at the moment. His overall performance has become underwhelming, and he’s no longer a strong pick.
Slardar and Magnus: Nerfs and Complexity
Slardar got nerfed too much and has significantly dropped in effectiveness. Then we have Magnus, who is actually decent but extremely hard to play. This is one of the hardest heroes in Dota, in my opinion. Even high MMR players struggle to make Magnus look clean. His game requires precise skewers, safe farming, and good RP execution, making him one of the top 10 hardest heroes to play.
Dazzle as a Viable Offlaner
Moving into the B tier, we have Dazzle. I think this hero can be a strong offlaner in public games, but only if you farm ancients. Without farming ancients, Dazzle feels more like a C-tier hero. However, with proper items like BKB and Hurricane Pike, he can become a menacing backline presence, capable of influencing the game heavily.
Timbersaw’s Strong Scaling
Then we have Timbersaw. His scaling is quite good, especially with core items like Pipe and Shiva’s Guard. Both item builds are currently powerful in the meta. Timbersaw’s ability to tank damage and disrupt enemies makes him a solid offlane pick, especially when played correctly with these strong items.
Enigma as a Niche Pick
Finally, we have Enigma. I think this hero is more of a cheese pick, but it’s an A-tier option when chosen against favorable matchups like Slark or Morphling. In these cases, Enigma can dominate the lane and even snowball the game while maintaining strong scaling into the late stages.
I’m definitely a big fan of Enigma, particularly if you can last-pick him. Next, we have Bristleback. While he’s not like the Bristleback of old patches, where he was nearly unkillable and farmed way too fast, he’s still very solid. In past patches, his Shard and AGS were much stronger, making him absolutely broken. Even though he’s been toned down, Bristleback remains a strong pub hero with good scaling and effective itemization, like Bloodstone and stacking ancients.
Dragon Knight and Offlane Potential
Dragon Knight is traditionally more of a mid or carry hero, but I believe offlane Dragon Knight with Fire Dragon build is quite powerful. His ability to farm ancients and get big item timings makes him a viable offlaner. While not the most popular choice, it’s definitely a strategy that can work well in pubs.
Death Prophet’s Fall from Grace
Death Prophet, once considered an A-tier hero, has seen a significant drop in power after nerfs. Her ability to buy auras and dominate with her strong toolkit made her formidable, but when auras were nerfed, she fell off hard. These changes have pushed her out of the top tier, making her less impactful in the current meta.
Dark Seer: The Aura King
Next, we have Dark Seer, who, outside of Underlord, holds the title of Aura King. He is a hero I love in pubs due to his ability to have a high impact while buying some of the most useful items in the game. His abilities, like Wall of Replica and Vacuum, scale very well into the late game, making him a strong team fighter.
Pudge as a Strong Offlaner
Finally, we have Pudge. Surprisingly, I believe Pudge is a pretty good offlaner right now. His tankiness, crowd control, and potential to disrupt the enemy team make him a solid pick in many games, even though he’s not always the most conventional choice for the role.
Pudge’s Strength and Scaling
I think the scaling of this hero is very good because he innately gains strength. Ever since they released Flesh Hook, Pudge has become much stronger, as it deals massive damage. Pudge can also be a great flash-farming hero, scaling well with Aghanim’s Scepter and aura items, making him a solid offlaner pick.
Vengeful Spirit’s Dominance in Public Games
Next, we have Vengeful Spirit. I always recommend Venge as a core in my tier lists. In average pubs, Venge is really good. She has a dominant laning phase, and most importantly, her Aghanim’s timing is easy to achieve with high impact. However, if she doesn’t reach this timing, she can feel like a weaker hero. But in most cases, farming the lane and getting a few kills is enough to make her the best hero in the mid game.
At the top of the B tier, we have heroes that I believe can compete in the A tier, starting with Night Stalker. He was incredibly strong when his ultimate refreshed all of his abilities, but after they removed that, he lost his ability to be a 1v9 hero. Despite this, he remains a solid pick in pubs due to his straightforward playstyle, reliable scaling, and safe laning stage. He’s much easier to play compared to heroes like Timbersaw, Primal Beast, or Doom.
Mars and Lycan: Easy to Play and Effective in Public Games
Mars is an easier hero to play due to his high HP, strong regeneration, and significant damage output. You can take advantage of the Knight facet for a solid start. Moving on to Lycan, this hero has a surprisingly high win rate. Pack Leader’s Alpha Wolves are incredibly strong, and the Helm of the Overlord has been buffed, making it even better. While Spirit Wolves aren’t as impactful, Lycan remains solid. You can build him as a right-clicker with Alpha Wolves, bracers, Power Treads, and Harpoon, followed by BKB and Nullifier, turning him into a true carry.
Necrophos: A-Tier Tank Counter
In the A tier, we have Necrophos, who, while not commonly picked in high MMR, deserves a spot for his ability to counter the tank meta. As I mentioned in the mid-tier list, Necrophos excels against the bracer-heavy meta where everyone is tanky, including offlane heroes and supports. Necrophos is arguably the best hero to deal with tanks, especially in this Crimson meta. While he struggles against Pipe of Insight, many heroes do, but his effectiveness against the tanky builds makes him a strong offlane choice.
Legion Commander: Infinite Scaling
Next up, we have Legion Commander. With her Duel ability, Legion Commander has infinite scaling potential, making her a dangerous threat as the game progresses. Her ability to build damage through Duel victories allows her to scale exceptionally well into the late game, turning her into a powerhouse.
Infinite Scaling in Public Games
I think this hero is terrible in the pro scene, but let me tell you, when you scale infinitely, you’ll be decent in pubs. Next, we have Razor. In terms of scaling, this hero is incredibly good. You can play Razor in two ways as an offlaner. Always take Thunderhead, which gives him a double proc chance and lowers the cooldown on his Storm Surge. You can either go tanky with items like Pike, Crimson Guard, and maybe even Guardian Greaves, or you can build Falcon Blade, BKB, or Manta and simply run in, scaling into the game. Both builds are viable, and Razor is powerful in general. I think more teams and players should consider him.
Lone Druid: Reliable Scaling and Flexibility
Lone Druid is another solid choice, with a very reliable laning phase and great ability to scale into the game. What’s nice about Lone Druid as an offlaner is that once you hit around level seven, you can start taking ancients. The main timing for this is Maelstrom, but if your game is difficult, or if you feel threatened before you have your ultimate, you can simply go hit ancients and scale well. Lone Druid can get so many levels and pop off with items like Gleipnir and Harpoon, alongside Treads on the main hero.
Viper’s Place in the Offlane
Lastly, we have Viper. While not always the most popular offlaner, Viper is still a hero that can dominate lanes and bring immense pressure with his toxic abilities. His scaling is consistent, and his ability to control fights from a distance makes him a solid offlane choice in the current meta.
This hero is incredibly solid now, fighting much better at every stage of the game because its right-clicks actually deal significant damage. Viper went from relying completely on abilities, which were easily dispellable, to becoming a decent right-clicker. The build I recommend starts with Wraith Band and Treads, then moves into Dragon Lance and Manta. The talent that increases Corrosive Skin’s damage helps clear creep waves since Manta illusions apply the corrosive effect. From there, you can build Pike, Gleipnir, Butterfly, and BKB, turning Viper into a powerful right-click hero.
Broodmother: A Surprising A-Tier Pick
Next, we have Broodmother, which is surprisingly sitting in the A-tier right now. This hero typically has a low win rate, but that’s not the case at the moment. The main reason for this is the “Feeding Frenzy” facet, which allows Insatiable Hunger to apply to her spiders, enabling Brood to melt buildings when left alone to split-push. Broodmother is also one of the best scaling heroes in the game, but you need to know how to manage your farming and flash-farming strategies. Her laning stage is straightforward, as she heals significantly with her abilities, making her hard to kill. At level six, Brood’s farming potential spikes, and from there, you can choose between building Pipe and Crimson for early game dominance or going for Harpoon, Manta, BKB, and later transitioning into Daedalus and Butterfly for scaling into the late game. There’s also a viable Orchid build that remains effective as well.
