Hellfire Torch Guide in Diablo 4

The path leads through a hidden Uber Tristram encounter, but it requires several seasonal objectives, three specific Evil Splinters, Cain’s complete journal, and a build capable of surviving very high Torment content.

Requirements for Uber Tristram

Complete the following preparation before attempting to open the secret encounter:

• Cain must be in the Library. This happens after progressing through the seasonal quest line. Cain’s presence in the Library is required for the final turn-in.
• Collect all three Evil Splinters. These items come from the required Hell capstone activities.
• Collect every Cain page. The full set of pages is needed to advance the secret quest.

How to get the three Evil Splinters

Pages one through three

The first three pages are shown at the beginning of the route, with the second and third appearing at the next nearby journal locations. Because these early locations are easy to confuse with other interactable objects, check each journal carefully and follow the order in which the pages appear.

Page four

Travel from the Witch Honey Waypoint area. The page is located nearby, along the route shown for this section of the journal hunt.

The fifth page is farther away from the previous location. Continue through the indicated route until you reach the journal lying at the marked spot.

Page six

In the Dry Steppes, teleport to the indicated waypoint and look for a small pocket in the terrain. The sixth page is inside this tucked-away area.

Page seven

For the seventh page, travel to the upper section of Scosglen. It is located on the dock in the area identified as Morrowind in the route.

Page eight

Teleport to Braesteg in Scosglen. Travel toward the Penitent Cairns; the page is positioned just before that area.

Page nine

Start from the Fat Goose Inn. The ninth page is next to the Old Stones.

Page ten

The final page can be reached from Yelesna. Travel to the indicated location and collect the last journal entry.

Keep track of the pages as you collect them. Missing even one page prevents the final sequence from progressing, so revisiting every route location is usually faster than trying to guess which requirement is incomplete.

Opening the secret portal

Once you have the three Evil Splinters, all Cain pages, Cain in the Library, and Wirt’s Lucky Coin, return to the Library and complete the final interaction sequence.

1. Speak with Cain if the quest interaction is available.
2. Go to the fountain in the Library.
3. Place Wirt’s Lucky Coin into the fountain.
4. Wait for the fountain to transform.
5. Enter the portal that appears with question marks.

This portal leads to the secret Uber Tristram-style area. The encounter contains powerful Echoes and culminates in a demanding boss fight. Make sure your character is fully prepared before entering, since the route is lengthy and the combat is considerably harder than routine seasonal activities.

Completing the Uber Tristram encounter

After entering the unknown portal, clear the area and defeat the Echoes. The fight includes several dangerous damage spikes, so avoid standing in hazards and save defensive cooldowns for the boss phase.

Once the final boss is defeated, collect every reward before leaving. The encounter can produce a large Mythic haul, although the exact number and items are random. The source example produced eight Mythics, but that result should not be treated as a guaranteed reward for every run.

Hellfire Torch and other rewards

The main reward is the Hellfire Torch, described as an exceptionally powerful charm. Its bonuses are randomized rather than fixed. Possible benefits include:

• All stats
• Resistances
• All skills
• An additional charm equip slot
• Another bonus connected to a specific set

The Torch can also roll up to four skills. Because its bonuses are random, some drops will be much more valuable than others. Check the complete item before replacing an existing charm or deciding whether to keep it for a particular build.
