Hi guys, it’s Librarian Husky. In this article, I’m going to share strategies for playing as a position four support in a model MMR game. The first 8 to 10 minutes are crucial for a support player, and I’ll outline what you should focus on during this early game phase.

Position Four Support Guide for Model MMR

So, as the game kicks off, your initial objective is to deward the enemy mid lane. Removing the enemy mid ward grants you valuable XP and gold, accelerating your progress to level two. This early advantage enables you to secure items faster, apply pressure in your lane, and support your mid laner in reaching level two swiftly.

It’s essential to identify the ward’s location to plan effective ganks within the first few minutes. By controlling vision, you can set up successful ganks and secure kills, enhancing your team’s early-game momentum.

Following dewarding, prioritize warding the small pull camp to prevent the enemy from executing pull strategies. Blocking this camp denies the opponent XP and lane control, which is critical in the early stages. Ensuring your opponents cannot pull gives your team a significant advantage, setting you up for a more favorable laning phase.

Remember to consistently monitor and refresh your sentries to maintain vision control and counter any enemy dewarding attempts. Securing vision superiority in the early game is paramount to your team’s success, warranting your vigilant attention to warding and dewarding efforts.

Effective Warding and Dewarding Strategies

When placing wards, consider high-traffic areas and key objectives on the map to maximize their utility. By strategically positioning wards, you can gain crucial information about enemy movements and objectives, enabling your team to make informed decisions and secure advantages.

Additionally, prioritize dewarding to deny the enemy vision and maintain control over key areas of the map. Removing enemy wards enhances your team’s map awareness and reduces the opponent’s strategic advantage, creating opportunities for successful engagements and map control.

Continuously assess the game state and adjust your warding and dewarding tactics based on the evolving dynamics of the match. Adapting your vision control strategies to suit the current game situation is essential for maintaining a competitive edge and securing victory in model MMR games.

Remember, mastering warding and dewarding techniques is a fundamental aspect of effective support play. By honing your vision control skills and strategic awareness, you can significantly impact your team’s performance and contribute to securing victories in high-stakes matches.

Maximizing Impact as a Position Four Support

As a position four support player, your role is pivotal in creating space, securing objectives, and enabling your core heroes to thrive. By understanding the nuances of support gameplay and mastering key mechanics such as warding, dewarding, and map awareness, you can elevate your performance and positively influence the outcome of games in model MMR environments.

Focus on developing a deep understanding of the game’s dynamics, identifying opportunities to make impactful plays, and synergizing with your teammates to execute coordinated strategies. Your ability to adapt to changing game conditions, communicate effectively with your team, and make informed decisions will be crucial in achieving success as a position four support player.

Embrace the challenges and responsibilities of the support role, continually seeking ways to improve your gameplay and contribute meaningfully to your team’s success. Through dedication, practice, and a strategic mindset, you can become a formidable force in the model MMR landscape, shaping the outcome of games and securing victories for your team.

Optimizing Jungle Camp Control

Here’s another example of awarding the small pull camp. This time I took a clip from a pro game. They even do it with more timing, specifically at minute 05:9, ensuring no chance to deward the camp.

Additionally, they dew their own pull camp, enabling more lane control. Dewing your own big camp is crucial as it allows you to pull, giving significant advantages. Pulling on the bank camp presents opportunities for kills on enemy heroes, particularly when they venture outside their tower’s protection.

Timing Lotus usage on the lane is essential. By minute 2:30, initiate a lane push to secure the Lotus in time for enhanced lane control. The Lotus can secure kills or aid in surviving ganks. Acquiring the first two Lotuses at minutes 3 and 6 is vital. To secure your Lotus, push the lane around minutes 2:15 or 2:30, using it as a barrier to prevent contestation. Ensure you have sufficient HP and mana to engage if a fight for the Lotus arises.

Providing solo XP to your offlaner, stacking ancients and the big camp at the triangle is crucial, especially with heroes like Tidehunter or Legion Commander capable of farming stacks efficiently. Granting your offlaner solo XP is essential for their progression, ensuring they can hold their lane effectively. Stacking ancients and big camps generates bonus XP and gold, benefiting your team. This strategy can lead to unexpected kills, as opponents may misjudge your movements, creating favorable opportunities.

As a support, prioritize smoke ganking mid and occasionally leaving your lane. Remaining static for extended periods, like 14 minutes, is not conducive to winning games. Active map movements and well-timed ganks can significantly impact the outcome of matches.

Game Strategy Execution

You want to smoke gank mid or smoke gank your bottom lane or just CP to your bottom lane. You want to make something happen in this game. Check for wards to avoid invisibility, especially against heroes like Invoker. Pay attention to the enemy mid-laner and react accordingly. Always carry dust for invisibility. Successful smoke ganks allow you to secure kills and create space. Watch the map constantly and utilize TP scrolls for quick rotations.

At minute four, observe the map for opportunities. React swiftly to enemy movements; for example, if you see a favorable situation mid, teleport to secure a kill. Effective rotations can shift the momentum in your favor. Control the minute six rune and communicate with your teammates to secure it. Utilize power runes to create gank opportunities. In the scenario described, securing the invisibility rune led to a successful gank top. Coordination with your team enhances the impact of rune control.

Early Game Strategy and Objectives

Now I see they have a sentry there. Not moving until my qu is here. And now we can get an easy kill on top lane dash rock. Probably should have saved my hook to get the TB but uh it is what it is. So, we got a kill with a minute six rune.

So, it’s getting to minute seven now. It’s really important to get the XP shrines because we just killed the top lane with a minute six rune. We can contest the enemy shrine. I also told my rave king to get the bottom shrine so we can get double shrines which is very very strong in the early game. gives you and your uh position five a fast level six and you can take game control with it especially in the early game.

I don’t know what this rock was doing here but we take the kill I guess. Now our draw here is out of position. TB is going on draw. Draw is dying but we take the kill on TB afterwards. So now we got uh two XP runes. We got the hour rune at the bottom. We got the top shrine. We got a kill on Lroock. And we got a TB. This was uh very very good for our team actually. Although Dite, which isn’t that important actually because we got such a huge advantage. Now, one of the most common mistakes is uh you’re not leaving your lane as a position four. So now it’s minute eight. You shouldn’t be um idling on your off lane anymore. You should be doing the kills. You should do calls, smoke gangs, and have your TP ready.

As you can see, I saw someone is getting ganked in front of the tower. I used my TP to get a kill. Next example. It’s now minute 9:30.

Team Coordination and Map Awareness

In the early stages of the match, having a sentry in place provides valuable vision and control over key areas. Securing kills with well-timed rotations and rune utilization can establish an early advantage for your team. Coordinating with teammates to secure shrine control and experience boosts is crucial for Maintaining momentum and game control.

Reacting promptly to opportunities and enemy movements is essential. Identifying when to leave your lane as a position four player and engaging in smoke ganks or decisive team movements can turn the tide of battle. Being aware of the map and potential gank opportunities allows for proactive plays and impactful contributions to team fights.

Maintaining lane presence and adapting to the evolving game state are fundamental in maximizing your impact during the early game. By making strategic decisions and capitalizing on enemy mispositions, you can create significant advantages for your team. Effective communication and swift decision-making are key components of successful gameplay strategies.

Effective Roaming Strategy in Dota 2

I’m still roaming around seek. I’m very strong and level six because we got two XP shrines. And now you should, especially when you have the advantage, push your advantage and try to get kills.

Now, at minute 10:30, I see Ra King is getting ganked bottom. I use my TP and we get a kill on the Mling. This only happens because we got the 2 XP shrines. You really, really need to push your advantage when you get to level six with your support, roam the enemy lanes, use your ultimate, and get kills.

Don’t stay on your lane idling and doing nothing. This doesn’t help your team and doesn’t make you win games.
