Understanding Ultron’s Healing Mechanism
The ally will receive a drone marker above the head showing the face of the character that it’s on as well as an indicator showing how many allies are within range of the healing effect. It’ll also display an orange circle around the target showing allies where you need to go to receive your healing. This healing is not significant, but it’s constant and reliable.
Having continual HP gain on targets makes it a lot harder to take them down. It makes it much less likely that fast burst combos are going to successfully kill a target. Divers like Spider-Man or Venom are going to find themselves having a hard time taking out any target that has this bot on them.
When you’re playing the game, you’re going to be moving around and trying to reapply this bot to the priority target that’s happening right now. This is usually going to be a tank, but you might want to use it onto an ally or a flyer that’s gotten the attention of the enemy team.
If your allied support is getting in trouble, popping the drone onto them and giving them some protection and healing over time will allow them to get themselves to safety and continue healing your allies. Keeping your fellow strategist safe is one of the most important jobs of being a strategist, and playing that way is really important on Ultra.
Throughout the game, I’m constantly repositioning this to whoever I think it is that needs the immediate healing, giving them that healing over time so they don’t go down. This is not fast healing, and you’re not going to be able to quickly dash to a target that’s being hard focused down and apply this to them to save them.
This is more about maintaining health over small amounts of damage. Now, it’d be really nice if we could drop this bot into an ally and just fire and forget and move on. But there’s a couple of problems with that. If you’re ever out of line of sight of the target that has your bot on them, the bot will begin flashing and then will despawn off of the target.
So, you must maintain continual regular line of sight with the target to make sure your bot stays active. Also, if you move too far away from your target, the bot immediately goes away. So, you can’t just drop this onto a tank and then go dive the enemy backlines.
You need to stay relatively close to the ally that you put this onto, as well as continuously maintain popping in and out of line of sight from that target to make sure they continue to get the healing. This does mean Ultron is going to be staying with the pack and the group and isn’t going to be a new DPS Jeff style problem where he’s constantly flanking the enemy backline and seemingly unkilling.
Utilizing Imperative Firewall for Team Survival
Imperative Firewall is Ultron‘s alternate fire. Activating this, he’s going to give himself as well as all allies near him and all allies near his healing bot a boost of bonus health. When you have allies clumped up in your bot as well as you’re near a couple of other allies, is a great time to pop this and give your whole team a boost of bonus HP that’s going to make them harder to take down.
This is also exclusively your only way to save a target that’s in trouble. If there’s an ally that’s received a large chunk of damage and they’re at low HP, making sure you can get a bot on them or to an ally nearby and then applying this firewall is going to be your only way to give them a boost of healing that might save their life. With the bonus health from this ability as well as the bonus health from your dash, Ultra is actually really survivable.
If he’s taking hits from any form of range DPS, he’s able to apply quite a bit of bonus health to himself and continue to dish out damage to targets. His low damage falloff and decent chunk of damage to enemies means he’s going to be taking out targets before they can take him out. Rage of Ultron is his ultimate ability.
Ultron’s Ultimate Ability: Strategic Deployment
Activating this, he summons a set of Ultron drones and then begins unleashing an array of shots in front of him. These shots do big healing to allies and chunk damage to enemies. The healing is much more significant than the damage, and the damage isn’t particularly that high. You should be mostly using this to pepper onto your allies to give them big boosts of healing when they’ve gotten into a sticky situation.
Or if there’s an entire clump of enemy targets and they are distracted by one of your allies, you could unleash this into the group to deal good chunk damage to all targets. While the ultimates active, you get constant self-healing. It’s not a significant amount, and most of the snipers and hit scan characters will still be able to kill you while you’re receiving this healing, but it is enough that as long as you stay mobile and continue dodging attacks, you should be able to live through your entire ultimate.
Though I still wouldn’t recommend going up too high because it is easy for enemies to be able to take you down. So playing Ultron in your games, you’re still a strategist and keeping your allies safe and healthy is still your main priority. You want to be putting your bot onto the priority targets that you think are going to be taking the front of the damage and constantly paying attention to your allied team, knowing where and when to move your bots.
Keep an eye out for stragglers and people that have separated out from the team, seeing if they need immediate healing or coordinate with your healing partners, making sure you have healing assignments. If you’re able to just drop your bot on the allied tank and an allied cloak and dagger or something similar is able to heal up any straggling allies, you should be able to get more out of your healing.
Keep an eye both on your ally indicator as well as your own HP and watch for any moments that enemies have started to focus in on targets. Apply your fireball to give your team a boost of HP and continuously move around strafing up, down, left, and right. To accommodate this, go into your character settings and make sure to bind descend to something that you can use regularly.
I tend to apply this to the V key. Making sure that I have a button I can use to drop downwards. Having a descent button gives you a lot more control over movement throughout a fight and makes it so you can go downwards a lot easier while still maintaining damage on your targets. If you don’t have a descent key, the only way to go downwards is to actually look down with your camera and begin moving. And that forces you to take your eyes off of your targets.
All the best flying players in the game are going to have descent bound and making sure to constantly be raising and ascending down, making it harder for enemies to keep their curses on them and get those head shot. You’d be railing out damage on the enemy team constantly.
And getting that pulse of the final blast of your incil ray is really important. When Ultron’s paired with another character that’s good at bursting down targets like Hela or Hawkeye, your team’s going to have a lot of final hits as you’re able to do a great chunk of damage to the target while they’re also chunking them down.

One or the other is going to get that final hit and you’re going to be taking out enemies quite effectively. A dead enemy can’t hurt your allies and that’s really the play style of Ultron. A lot of players are saying Ultron really only works in a threehealer squad and I don’t agree with this. I think Ultron can work really well in an aggressive team format but have a good reliable group healer like invisible woman or cloak and dagger that’s doing a majority of the healing and you’re able to keep a bots onto targets keeping a consistent set of healing going on targets so you don’t have to worry about chip damage taking people out.
Then work with other aggressive characters like Punisher, Hela, Star-Lord, or Iron Man to be able to nuke down enemies and melt the enemy team before they’re able to really get too much damage into your team. If your tracking is good, he is also really good in three healer compositions.
Understanding Ultron’s Strengths and Weaknesses
Ultron‘s effectiveness in battle depends on understanding his capabilities and limitations. When facing opponents with strong anti-flyer capabilities, it’s advisable to maintain a lower altitude, positioning yourself strategically behind your allies to unleash your powerful attacks. Despite being an aerial combatant, Ultron can deliver substantial damage from a lower position, making him a versatile threat on the battlefield.
It’s crucial to recognize the optimal times to utilize Ultron in combat scenarios. If your team is struggling to withstand enemy assaults, it may be wise to switch to a different hero to better support your allies. Having a secondary healer in your roster can provide flexibility and ensure your team’s survival during intense engagements.
