Greetings, warriors of the multiverse! Librarian Husky here, bringing you the ultimate breakdown on one of Marvel Rivals’ most misunderstood masterminds—Ultron! Whether you’re a fan of calculated chaos or just curious how to unlock this metal menace’s full potential, you’re in the right place. Let’s decode the code and show why Ultron isn’t just a support… he’s a storm.

    Unlocking Ultron’s Potential

Many players struggle with Ultron because they overlook his offensive capabilities and focus solely on his supportive role. Contrary to common belief, Ultron shines not as a healer but as a versatile fighter with exceptional damage output and unmatched mobility. His ability to engage in duels and secure picks from any location gives him a distinct advantage in the game.

    Mastering Ultron’s Strengths

And it is imperative that you use these strengths accordingly. If you play Ultron to just sit behind your team and heal all game, you are way better off playing literally any other character like Rocket, Luna, or Loki, for example. Take angles, find picks, and charge that ultimate to carry fights.

    Understanding Ultron’s Kit

With this in mind, let’s hop right into discussing the kit of Ultron. Let’s start things off with Ultron’s primary fire damage ray.

    Understanding Ultron’s Laser Beam Ability

And yeah, looking at that word, uh, I’m not even going to try to pronounce it, so we’re just going to call it the laser beam, ’cause I mean, that’s really what it is.

    Firing the Laser Beam

Upon firing, Ultron will immediately begin firing his hit scan laser beam, where it will then blast after about half a second. This means that wherever your crosshair is pointing, that’s where the laser is going to hit. You don’t need to lead your shots here. Once you start firing, you do not need to hold the beam for the laser blast later either. You only have to press it once.

Improving Fire Control in the Game

Because of this, I tap when I fire instead of holding. It just feels weird, but you’ll get used to it pretty quickly. While the beam charges up to the burst, it deals 72 damage if the full beam hits the target. Then that blast that we were talking about at the end of the burst deals 75 damage on impact in a spell field radius. So with everything connecting, you deal 147 damage per round, enough to twotap any squishy in the game.

    Exploring Spell Damage Radius

When I read online that the blast is a spell damage radius, I was curious if it meant that you could hit multiple targets at once.

    Ultron’s Beam Blast Mechanics

So I tested it. But no, the beam blast cannot hit two targets at once. Instead, what it does is make it easier for you to land a shot because the blast is a little bit larger than the beam that comes before it.

    Damage and Comparison

This is why Ultron’s damage feels so consistent compared to other characters like Adam Warlock, for example. Unlike Iron Man’s Unibeam, though, the primary fire damage with Ultron does not pierce targets.

    Ultron’s Damage Fall-off Mechanics

It would be really cool if it did. It would just be a little bit too overpowered.

    Impact of Damage Reduction

Unfortunately, Ultron does run into damage fall-off starting from 20 m away, decreasing to 75% of his normal damage at 30 m. So, instead of dealing 147 damage per round, you are dealing 110 damage per round. This switches squishies to three taps instead of two taps. It’s honestly not the end of the world.

    Understanding Damage Numbers in Overwatch

That’s still pretty good for a support. Through understanding these damage numbers, it should be very obvious that you should not be shooting tanks all fight unless they are the only targets you can see or you are cleaning up the fight. You are playing Ultron. You can freaking fly. Use this strength to find angles on enemy DPS or better yet pressure the enemy supports and give them a hard time.

    Importance of Survival

While it is nice to get the full damage out of every shot, it is much more important that you, above all else, live.

Tips for Playing as a Flyer in the Game

Since you are a flyer, it is really important that you play around cover because the skybox will not always protect you depending on who you are against. This is especially true against characters like Hela and Hawkeye that are very popular right now. What you can do is put yourself on a corner where the enemies will be on your right side. This will force you to expose less of your body when you swing the enemy. Building upon this, you can actually start charging your laser by shooting the wall around cover and then peeking out right when the second burst is about to hit.

    Utilizing Cover Strategically

When playing as a flyer, strategic use of cover is crucial to your survival. Characters like Hela and Hawkeye pose significant threats, so positioning yourself near cover can help minimize exposure to enemy attacks. By positioning yourself on a corner with enemies on your right side, you can reduce vulnerability while engaging foes. Additionally, a clever tactic involves charging your laser behind cover by shooting the wall and then peeking out to unleash a well-timed attack.

    Tips for Playing Ultron

This is super unpredictable and hard to hit from the enemy’s point of view. But don’t keep peeking from the same elevation too often because then you actually do become a very predictable and easy shot. Success is found with moderation here in switching things up.

    Ultron’s Reload Animation

Finally, you’ll see that Ultron’s reload animation is really long after you fire your last shot, putting you out of damage for quite a bit of time. What’s nice to know, though, is that you can cancel this reload animation by starting your reload and then meleeing right when the circle is about half full. You have to do this right after you fire your shot or it’s going to do the huge animation.

Improving Your Aim in Shooter Games

So, make sure you hit that reload. And this is going to significantly cut down on your reload time and let you start firing much faster. If you are newer to shooter games and want some tips to hit more shots on Ultron, to get better at outputting stats with him in general, the type of aim you’re going to want to get better at is called tracking.

    Understanding Ultron’s Dynamic Flight

Bound to shift by default, Ultron’s dynamic flight allows him to dash 12 m in the direction that the player is inputting.

    Ultron’s Dash Ability

The dash is then followed by a 40% movement speed boost for 8 seconds. The craziness of this ability doesn’t stop there, though, because Ultron also generates an extra 50 bonus health for himself the moment he dashes, too. Oh, yeah, and this is all on an 8-second cooldown, too.

    Movement Control Details

By the way, something that is important to note about the direction that they actually give you to dash is that the keyboard dash can only affect the X-axis of movement. The up and down Y-axis is controlled by where your crosshair is.

    Mastering Movement in the Game

So, if you want to go up and to the left, you’ll have to actually look up to the left to dash that way. Almost like you’re flying a drone if you understand how to do that with a controller. It’s pretty intuitive, but nice to know what’s going on if you really need to go up or down in a pinch.

    Understanding Cooldown Mechanics

There is one problem I see a lot of players having with this ability though, outside of just learning how you can move the character, and that is the cooldown only begins once you leave the accelerated state. This means that you can only really abuse that extra 50 health that you’re getting with the ability once every 16 seconds. The ability is still super strong and can be used to get in, to get out, or to secure picks in a duel.

The Benefits of Using a Specific Ability in the Game

First, obviously, this ability is great to get active. Think about when you respawn on a domination map and you need to get back to the point. This ability is perfect to leave spawn with and will probably be back online by the time you need it when you start fighting again. This ability is also great if you find yourself going a little bit too deep for a pick and need a solid way to get out. The extra 50 HP you generate could make or break a game at times.

    Common Usage of the Ability

The most common way I see this ability getting used though is to confirm picks in 1v one duels.

Tips for Winning Duels in Ultron

If you are fighting a Hela, for example, and she only has 50 HP, but you were one shot, you can actually charge your beam and then dash out of cover to immediately take her out. From her perspective, it is nearly impossible to hit this shot and she will just lose every single time. Outside of using the beam and dash this away, it is just great to have in reserve for duels.

    Strategies for Success

You can take a shot, dash back to cover, and then take the 1 v one with a health and speed boost advantage. There really is no excuse to lose duels on Ultron unless you were significantly out of position or the target you are shooting has healing.фичер1

Ultron’s Healing Abilities in the Game

Ultron’s healing drone, the Imperative Patch, can be tossed to any teammate within 25 meters of him. It heals them for 45 health per second and all allies in an 8-meter radius for 30 health per second. The 30 healing per second also includes you. If you sit in the radius of the drone you place on another target, you’ll get the healing just like you would if you had placed your shield down on Invisible Woman. This healing may not seem significant, but it is comparable to Mantis and her life charges that heal for 20 per second after their initial burst heal.

    Comparative Healing Abilities

Ultron’s healing capabilities are crucial in providing support to his team members during gameplay. The Imperative Patch offers consistent healing rates that can benefit both the targeted ally and nearby teammates, creating a strategic advantage during battles. The healing efficiency of Ultron’s drone stands out when compared to similar healing abilities of other characters in the game.

    Ultron and Mantis Comparison

So, to those that say Ultron doesn’t heal, why are we not losing our minds about Mantis? Anyway, just like Luna’s snowflake, the drone also doesn’t have a cooldown, meaning you can throw it to any teammate at any time with nothing stopping you. So, there shouldn’t really ever be a time that the drone is not on a friendly target. If the uptime can be infinite, the up time should be infinite.

    Drone Maintenance

It is important that you don’t just forget about your drone, though. Unlike Snowflake, the drone will leave your target if you are more than 30 m away from them or if you are behind a wall from them for more than 5 seconds.

Optimizing Drone Usage in the Game

You can circumvent the need to constantly maintain line of sight or range with your friendly that has the drone by just popping back into that reset zone with them every 5 seconds if you need to. Because of the way the drone works, you shouldn’t really need to hard flank with Ultron in my opinion. It’s much better to instead just look for safe off angles to find pressure. You don’t really need to go all that deep anyways since you can fly anywhere and anytime. So, it really shouldn’t be that much of a problem.

    Understanding Tap Differences

And the difference between a two tap and a three tap. It’ll come into play every now and then, but it’s not really going to lose you a game.

    Deploying Drones Strategically

The hardest part about the drone though is understanding who to put it on and when. And that depends a lot on the situation. If you have a Luna Snow and are running a flanker like Psylock. While you could put your drone on the Psylock too, it is probably better to put the drone on your tanks that are going to be taking a lot of damage and playing near the Luna Snow.

Optimizing Drone Use in Valorant: A Guide for Psylock Players

This is because Psylock should already have snowflake to begin with, and the drone will get more value elsewhere. Now, if we swap the Luna out with a rocket, things change. Now, you’ll probably want to dish that drone to the Psylock when she goes for her flank, so she has healing when she needs it right away. Rarely in ranked will people be playing this fast, and you’ll need to optimize it based on the composition, though. Most of the time, the drone is tossed around the fight as different people get active.

    Optimizing Ultron’s Drone Usage

Starting the fight, give your drone to your tanks in the front line to generate ultimate charge since they’re taking the brunt of the damage. Then, when your DPS starts taking a duel, you can dish the drones over to them. And finally, if your supports start getting pressured, you can just dish the drone over to them to keep them alive. The drone is the most skill expressive part of Ultron’s kit, and mastering its rotations is crucial to winning you fights. This ability is nothing without the next, though, being Ultron’s imperative firewall.

    Utilizing Ultron’s Firewall Ability

Upon pressing right click by default, Ultron will send out a wall that gives him 75 bonus HP, and anyone within 8 m of a spherical radius around him 55 bonus HP.

    Ultron’s Team Support Ability

Allies within the drone’s radius also receive 55 bonus HP, meaning that Ultron does not really need to be right next to the team. Understand that the drone and firewall share a spherical radius with this ability, not cylindrical.

    Radius and Health Bonus Mechanics

This means that if you drone someone in the air and use the firewall, unless the target is close enough, the allies on the ground are not going to receive that bonus health. The ability is on a 10-second cooldown, and the bonus health will begin to decay after 3 seconds if it is not shut off first. If you hit everyone on the team, this means with one click of a button, you can give out 350 bonus HP every 10 seconds.

    Optimizing Drone Usage in Valorant

You don’t get all charged from this though, which is a little bit unfortunate, although that would be insanely OP. Typically, you want to use your drone to rotate it over to your team or whomever needs it in niche situations, whether that be a flanking Psylock or a struggling support like we were discussing earlier. When you do use this ability, though, you have to be very deliberate with what you do after. Remember, if all you do is just sit there and focus on trying to heal your team, you are going to lose and you should just switch. So, when you use your right click to save your support or enable your team’s push, you need to then immediately start getting aggressive and start looking for picks since the bonus health that you have just given yourself is going to leave in 3 seconds anyways.

    Tactical Gameplay Strategies

This could look like taking a step back, shielding your team, and then dashing into the enemy backline for an ultimate to clean up the fight. It doesn’t always have to look this way, but this is an example of what you could do.

    Consider Shielding and Team Positioning

The other thing you’ll want to be thinking about is what the shields can prevent specifically. This could be Hawkeye oneshots, Neore ultimate oneshots, you name it. In the Hawkeye case, if you provide shields to a teammate, he cannot one-shot targets with 275 HP, which is why a character like Rocket is very good with Ultron right now.

    Ultron’s Tactical Abilities

It helps him get past that breakpoint on any squishy instead of just the ones with 275 HP. If you know the enemies have specific characters, it can inform you of how you want to use your firewall and drones in tandem to deal with specific threats each fight. Sometimes you just need the extra health and you use the ability and that’s just how simple it can be. Just make sure that you keep your drone uptime consistent so you can keep multiplying your value with each use of the ability. With the use of your overhealth and then the dash overhealth combined, Ultron can have 375 health in total when he looks to take an angle, making him a formidable foe that should rarely lose in 1v1s.

    Ultron’s Synergy with Iron Man

Before we jump into talking about Ultron’s ultimate, let’s talk about the team up that he has with Iron Man, considering it’s a pretty big deal and adds a lot to his kit.

    Iron Man’s Nanoray Ability

When Iron Man is on Ultron’s team, he gains access to the nanoray every 30 seconds that fires a hit scan beam that pierces targets, dealing 70 damage per second and heals friendlies for 85 healing per second at the same time. If you played Overwatch, think about Moira’s coallescence, but weaker.

    Infinite Range and Unique Healing

What’s crazy is that the beam has infinite range. The damage falls off at 20 m away just like his normal primary fire, but the healing doesn’t, which is absolutely insane. The nanoray is specifically really good at charging your ultimate insanely quickly.

Maximizing Ultimate Charge with Ability Usage

Considering the ultimate only costs 3,400 points, hitting the entire enemy team with this while also healing your own is probably enough to charge at least 30% of your ultimate with just one use of the beam. And honestly, that’s being generous. You can probably get 50 to 60% out of one use of this ability. So try to use this beam when your team is pushing or being pushed to capitalize on both damage and healing. You can also use the beam from the sky to peel for specific ultimates.фичер2

    Strategic Use of Abilities

When playing strategically, it’s essential to assess the impact of your abilities on the overall gameplay. By efficiently using the beam ability, you can significantly boost your ultimate charge during crucial moments. This tactical approach not only enhances your team’s offensive capabilities but also provides substantial healing support. Additionally, utilizing the beam strategically from above can offer valuable protection for specific ultimates, elevating your team’s performance.

Ultron’s Ultimate Ability: The Rage of Ultron

Think ultimates like magic, Psylock, even Storm if your team is playing really well and helping you heal at the same time. This team up does not make or break Ultron like tons of people seem to think, but it does make him a lot more flexible and capable of doing a lot more for his team with his ultimate. So, speaking of his ultimate, let’s talk about it.

    Understanding The Rage of Ultron

The Rage of Ultron, which is honestly the coolest ultimate name in all of Rivals, let’s be honest. Upon using the ultimate, Ultron calls out four drones of himself that fire sets of five laser projectiles that heal friendly targets and deal damage to the enemies. He also enjoys 50 healing per second throughout the ultimate while also being able to dash as well.

    Ultimate Ability Analysis

Each individual burst deals 40 damage in total, making each set deal 200 damage in total, with all of those lasers combined dealing 1,000 damage per ultimate if you hit everything. For healing, each individual burst heals 125 damage in total, making each set heal 625 healing in total. And with all of them combined, healing for 3,125 points of healing in total. That might sound like a lot, but it is not even close to how much these other supports are going to be able to heal. So, what’s nice about this ultimate is that you don’t actually have to hit the enemy straight on for it to deal any damage or heal.

    Ultron’s Ultimate Ability in Combat

It does the same amount of healing or damage whether you hit them directly or not. Ultron also cannot be stunned out of the ultimate or cancel it himself. Meaning once you start the ultimate, you are in it for 9 seconds until you either die or you fire all of your shots.

    Strategic Use of Ultron’s Ultimate

Since there is a short animation before Ultron actually starts firing, you can start the alt from behind cover and then dash out once you start firing to mitigate damage on yourself while also giving yourself more bonus health and a movement speed boost. This will help in confirming picks in the backline if you want to get aggressive.

    Using Ultron’s Ultimate Strategically

While the ultimate can be used to counter some ultimates like Magic, Iron Fist, Bucky, or any single target threat, it is also really good at swinging fights like an Uno reverse card. Picture the enemies coming in and trying to overwhelm your front line. And then you counter with your own Ultron ultimate, healing your tanks and taking the enemy tanks out at the same exact time. Sure, you might not have ultimate for one of the DPS ones now, but you can charge your ultimate so insanely and incredibly fast that you might just have it again if you were cooking. the other support ultimates that are likely to be on your team are better for specifically countering DPS anyways, so it’s really not that big of a deal if you use it this way.

    Ultimate Flexibility in Gameplay

Don’t be afraid to just take out the enemy supports early in the fight either if you see an opportunity where they are split or low. This is quite possibly the most flexible ultimate in the entire game, so get comfortable letting it rip and seeing what you can do with it.

    Countering Ultron’s Strengths

Now that we have finished talking about Ultron’s kit and how to play him, what counters Ultron? The way he gets countered is constantly by getting pressured out of the sky by annoying hit scan.
