Understanding Weight Classes in New World
Monitoring your equip load is essential for maximizing your effectiveness. In New World, there are three main weight classes: light if your weight is 12.9 or below, medium if your weight is between 13 and 22.9, and heavy if your weight is 23 or above. Each weight class grants unique buffs. For example, being in the light category improves your dodge roll, making it quicker and more agile, whereas the heavy class shifts your dodge to a slower side step with a defensive focus.
Benefiting from Different Weight Categories
Your weight category directly influences your combat style. Playing in the light class enhances mobility and evasion with superior dodge rolls, ideal for hit-and-run tactics. On the other hand, the heavy class favors tankiness and stability with slower but more controlled dodges. Choosing the right category to fit your playstyle can significantly improve your battle performance.
Understanding Equipment Bonuses in New World
Weight also affects other bonuses — for instance, staying in the light category can grant up to a +15% damage boost. This total weight includes all armor pieces and shields equipped. If your build does not require a shield, avoid equipping one to save weight and maximize bonuses. Remember, you only gain attribute bonuses from shields if you have one equipped, so plan your loadout carefully to maintain optimal equip load and reap the full benefits during your adventures.
Optimizing Your Loadout
Maintaining a balance between gear weight and bonuses is crucial in New World. Make sure your equipment choices align with your playstyle to maximize benefits. Avoid carrying unnecessary items that increase weight without offering significant advantages. Equipping gear that complements your build helps you fully utilize attribute bonuses and enhances your overall gameplay experience.
Monitoring Equipment Efficiency
Regularly evaluate your gear to optimize your character’s performance. Focus on items that positively contribute to your playstyle and objectives. Adjust your loadout to maintain an efficient balance between bonuses and weight. Managing your equipment effectively will improve your combat and exploration capabilities in New World.
Understanding Character Stats in New World
Understanding your character stats will explain why your dodge, attack damage, healing rating, and other attributes change during gameplay. You can easily check these by pressing Tab and reviewing all your armor and stats displayed on the left side of the screen.

Leveling Up Efficiently in New World
The fastest way to level up is by following the main story quest while completing nearby side quests. Press the J key on PC to open your quest log and keep track of your progress. The quest system has been revamped since the game’s 2021 launch, offering a smoother leveling experience.
Maximizing Your Gaming Experience
The updated main storyline provides more rewarding experience gains, improved cinematics, and an overall better narrative. Following the main story quest is the quickest and most enjoyable way to level up in New World.
Unlocking Free Season Pass Levels
New World offers a free season pass with 100 levels and rewards, resetting approximately every three months. This free pass allows players to unlock many rewards simply by playing and progressing through the levels. The current season pass is active in-game and provides excellent incentives for continued play.
Exploring In-Game Rewards
In New World, there are both free and premium tracks in the season pass. You can complete all 100 levels of the free side and claim its rewards. If you decide to purchase the premium season pass later, you will instantly unlock all premium rewards up to your current free level. For example, if you reached level 80 on the free track before buying, you will immediately receive all premium rewards from levels 1 to 80.
Maximizing Daily Rewards
Every day you log in, you can claim three different reward bags containing free gold and materials. These daily bonuses help you steadily accumulate resources and currency.
Resource Bags in the Game
The method for obtaining resource bags changes periodically. They may come from activities like chopping trees, mining nodes, skinning animals, killing mobs, or opening chests. Each bag contains useful materials and some gold. When New World releases on October 15th, make sure to learn where to find these bags and collect them daily to maximize your resource gain.
Collecting Daily Rewards
Since the source of resource bags can vary, it’s important to stay updated on the current methods. Opening these bags regularly provides materials and gold, which can significantly support your progression in the game. Consistent daily collection is key to taking full advantage of these rewards.
Game Update: First Light Renamed to Elysian Wild
The zone formerly known as First Light has been renamed and reworked. It now features free gold and bonus materials, but its level range has drastically changed.
Changes in Zone Levels
Elysian Wild, the new name for First Light, is no longer a low-level area. It now ranges from level 60 to 65. Returning players should be cautious, as venturing there early will be very dangerous due to high-level mobs. The zone’s complete transformation means you need to adjust your gameplay approach accordingly.
Territory Buffs
Territory buffs provide various bonuses in the game that can enhance your character’s stats and gameplay. Understanding and leveraging these buffs is essential for maximizing your performance while exploring and fighting in different zones.
Leveling Up Tips and Tricks
In New World, every quest, crafting action, or activity grants you area or territory experience. You can check your progress by opening the map in the top left corner. When you level up, you will be presented with three different choices that rotate each time. It is important to choose wisely to maximize your advancement. One choice you should avoid is the character XP boost, as it becomes useless after reaching level 65.
Optimizing Your Progress
Focus on gaining area or territory experience to level up efficiently. Carefully consider the three options offered at each level and avoid selecting character XP. Making informed decisions during level-ups will significantly enhance your overall gameplay experience.
Benefits of Picking the Right Option
Choosing the correct option provides tangible benefits in the zone you are playing. For example, the character XP bonus grants a small increase in experience gain while you are in that zone. However, once you hit level 65, this bonus is no longer effective, rendering it a waste.
Enhance Your Storage Capacity
Increasing your storage capacity in a town is an excellent choice. This upgrade helps you carry more items and manage resources better. While you can also increase storage with chests and houses, selecting this option during level-ups is highly recommended.
Choosing the Best Option
Picking upgrades that improve your utility, such as storage space, consistently provides great value. Prioritize these over less impactful options to ensure steady progress and a smoother gameplay experience.
Consider the Territory Standing XP Buff
The territory standing XP buff can be a bit of a mixed choice. Territory levels go up to 300, and reaching that cap is a significant achievement that requires a lot of effort. If you’re aiming to hit level 300, selecting this buff can help you progress faster, but it may not be the best choice for general gameplay buffs.
Tips for Leveling Up Faster
If you want to reach level 300 more quickly, consider picking buffs that specifically enhance your territory standing. However, if you prefer general benefits without focusing on territory XP, it’s better to avoid this buff. A smart approach will make your leveling smoother and more efficient.
Efficient Strategies for Progress
To optimize your progress toward level 300, focus on tasks that boost your territory standing. Avoid the territory XP buff if you’re looking for broad advantages rather than specialized growth. A well-planned selection of buffs can greatly improve your overall advancement.
Optimizing Crafting and Trading Locations
It is important to designate different towns for crafting and trading activities. One town should be your crafting hub, while another should serve as your trading post. Two valuable buffs to pick are those that reduce the taxes you pay when crafting or trading in a specific area. Though the savings may seem small individually, they add up significantly over time, especially if you frequently use the trading post.
Strategic Town Selection for Crafting and Trading
Selecting separate towns for crafting and trading allows you to maximize the benefits of reduced taxes in each activity. This strategy can save you a lot of money by lowering transaction costs and improving your profit margins. Prioritize buffing trading in one town and crafting in another to optimize your economic efficiency.
Crafting and Saving Money
By focusing all your crafting in one town with tax reduction buffs, you will save a considerable amount of money over time, making your crafting activities much more profitable.
Weapon Combinations and Attributes
When you open the attribute page, you’ll notice symbols representing different weapons. Any symbol that is fully glowing indicates that investing attribute points into the corresponding stat will boost the power and damage of that weapon. For example, putting points into Strength will increase the effectiveness of the sword and shield.
The Impact of Attributes on Weapon Power
Attributes affect weapons differently. Taking sword and shield as an example, the Dexterity attribute is less effective compared to strength, which provides a stronger boost. On the other hand, some attributes like Focus do not impact the sword and shield at all. This means points in Focus won’t enhance its power.
Understanding Attribute Influence on Equipment
Attributes such as Strength and Dexterity directly influence weapon power but in varying degrees. Strength gives a significant boost, while Dexterity offers a smaller enhancement. Meanwhile, attributes like Focus have no effect on some weapons, emphasizing the importance of strategically allocating attribute points to maximize your equipment’s effectiveness.
Choosing Weapons in New World
When selecting two weapons early in the game, it’s crucial to choose those that benefit from the same attributes to maximize your damage output. For example, pairing Sword and Shield with Life Staff is not ideal. Sword and Shield benefits mainly from Strength and Dexterity, while Life Staff relies on Focus for healing power. Aligning your weapon choices with your attribute points will ensure you get the most out of your build.
Attribute Allocation for Weapon Damage
Constitution in New World primarily provides health buffs, while each weapon depends on specific attributes to maximize damage and healing. To optimize combat effectiveness, it is essential to select two weapons that align with the same attribute allocation. For example, pairing a sword and shield with a life staff is not ideal because the sword and shield benefits from strength and dexterity, while the life staff requires Focus for better healing potential.
Optimizing Attribute Allocation for Combat
Splitting your attributes across three different pools reduces overall effectiveness. For instance, the best combination with a sword and shield is a spear. The spear mainly gains increased power from dexterity and also benefits slightly from strength. This pairing creates a strong synergy in attribute allocation and weapon power.
Choosing the Right Weapon Attributes
Avoid dividing attribute points too thinly among multiple pools. Instead, focus on complementary weapons such as sword and shield paired with a spear. Both rely on dexterity and strength, making this an efficient combination for maximizing damage output.
Choosing Two Weapons
When selecting two weapons, always check their attribute requirements. Aim to pick weapons that benefit from the same attribute pool. For example, a mage build could use a fire staff and an ice gauntlet, investing attribute points mainly into intelligence and some into Constitution for health. This ensures both weapons are powered up effectively.
Level 20 Mount
At level 20, you unlock your first mount in the game, offering faster travel and convenience during your adventures.
Exploring the Shadow Mine Shrine
This content has been reduced from level 25. Previously, you would head to Everfall town. Looking north, you’ll find the Shadow Mine Shrine. You can fast travel or visit for the first time. Note that the first quest is to acquire your horse mount.
Quest for Your Horse Mount
Upon reaching level 25, the journey to Everfall town begins. Venture north to discover the elusive Shadow Mine Shrine. Whether you choose swift travel or opt for a leisurely stroll, the initial quest awaits: securing your beloved horse mount.
Mount Tips in the Game
You basically follow the first quest, then it gives you the horse, and from there on, you’ve got your first mount in the game.
Tip for Faster Movement
Tip number nine, if you haven’t got your mount yet, just running on the designated roads will give you a 15% faster movement speed buff. Sticking to the center of those roads, you run a lot faster than when out in the wild.
Boosting Speed off Roads
Tip number ten, if you need to travel off-road, you can almost permanently boost your speed by equipping a bow in either your main hand or secondary slot. When you un-sheath the bow, it activates a 5-second 10% speed boost, followed by a 5-second cooldown.
Tips for Faction Selection in New World
To maintain this speed buff off-road, keep toggling between your main hand weapon and your bow. This will constantly give you a mini speed buff while moving through terrain.
Benefits of Choosing the Same Faction
Tip number 11 is to pick the same faction as the people you want to play with or join in a company. Around level 18 in the Everfall region, you’ll choose between the three different factions. To gain some bonus XP, you can complete all three quest lines but cancel the final part where you officially join a faction. This lets you do the other factions’ quests for extra XP. Once you decide, complete the final quest to join your chosen faction.
Joining Companies and Factions
You can join companies without joining a faction, meaning you can be factionless but still join a company like Syndicate. However, to participate in wars and major faction activities, you must be a faction member. Around level 18, if you want bonus XP, do all three faction quest lines, then connect with friends or companies to find a faction to join. Keep in mind, switching factions has a cooldown of a few months.
Benefits of Faction Membership
Joining a faction is essential for engaging in key activities like wars. While you can be factionless and still join companies, faction membership opens up more gameplay opportunities. Choose your faction carefully because switching later comes with a significant cooldown.
Tips for Maximizing Faction Rewards in the Game
The main tip here is to think carefully before deciding your faction, as the choice impacts your gameplay and has restrictions on switching.
Tip Number 12: Faction Rewards
Once you make your faction choice, you gain access to faction rewards. A key tip is that the first three faction quests you complete each day grant a bonus XP and gold reward. Although you can do unlimited faction quests daily, focus on completing these first three for maximum benefits.
Tip Number 13: Lore Notes
Throughout the maps, you’ll find blue, flashing lore notes. Make sure to collect them as you explore.

XP Boost and Lore Reading
Picking up lore notes grants a small XP boost. For lore enthusiasts, reading these notes provides deeper insights into the game’s world and story.
Unstuck Feature in the Game
Tip number 14 is about the unstuck feature. If you get trapped in tricky spots on the map, type “/unstuck” in the text chat or use the on-screen option. This will teleport you back to where you were moments before getting stuck. Use this promptly rather than waiting. The feature also works inside dungeons.
Guide to Dungeon Progression
If you want to restart a dungeon from the beginning, even if you’re midway or near the end, using unstuck will teleport you to the dungeon’s entrance.
Understanding PVE Damage Types
Tip number 15 covers PVE damage indicators. When hitting mobs, damage numbers appear in three colors: white means normal damage, yellow indicates increased damage, and orange shows critical hits or hits on the mob’s back.
Understanding Weapon Types and Damage in New World
To optimize damage, use the right weapon types against specific mobs. Different weapons deal different damage types, and mobs have weaknesses to certain types. Matching your weapon damage to mob weaknesses will increase your effectiveness in combat.
Utilizing Filtering Options in New World
Tip number 16: New World now offers convenient filtering options throughout the game. For example, in your storage, you can use brackets to quickly search for a specific perk. If you have many bows and want to find one with the Penetrating Shot perk, just type the perk name in brackets, and the filter will show you the matching items.
Using Filters to Search for Perks
At the top, enter the perk name in brackets to filter items. On the Trading Post, this process is even easier: use the built-in filters to select either “include this perk” or “show only items with this perk,” speeding up your search.
Efficient Perk Search Options
For quick searching, type the perk in brackets at the top of your inventory or use filters on the Trading Post to either include the perk or show only items that definitely have it.
Efficient Gear Filtering
Filters help you quickly find the gear you need, especially after dungeon runs when your inventory fills up. Searching by perks at the top of your inventory window simplifies sorting.
Crafting Bonus Tip
Tip number 17: There is a first-time crafting bonus in the game. In the crafting menu, you’ll see a symbol indicating items you have never crafted before.
Crafting Tips for Leveling Up
Craft one of each new item to earn additional crafting XP. This trick helps you level up your crafting skills faster.
Importance of Gear Management
Tip number 18: Don’t focus too much on gear until you reach max level. When you pick up a new item, hover over it—if you see green arrows, it means the item has a better gear score, more armor, or better attributes, so equip it.
Equipping Higher Gear Score Items
Always equip items with a higher gear score. Pay special attention to items that not only have a higher gear score but also match the attributes of your currently equipped weapons.
Maximizing Your Gear Score
For maximum efficiency, equip items with higher gear scores that also correspond to your weapon attributes. This will significantly improve your overall performance.
