Greetings, Summoners! I’m Librarian Husky, here to bring you the latest insights from Patch 14.19. This update has introduced some exciting shifts in item builds and strategies, particularly for tank and fighter champions. In this guide, we’ll dive into the most effective build adjustments for champions like Urgot, Aatrox, and others, covering everything from core items to rune pages that will help you dominate the Rift. Let’s explore how these changes can enhance your gameplay and keep you ahead in the current meta!
Tank Items in Patch 14.19
Tank items didn’t get nerfed as hard as many fighter items in patch 14.19. Because of this, we are seeing certain fighters slotting in tank items when possible. Urgot is one of these champions, particularly favoring Heartsteel as a core item.
Urgot’s Core Build Synergy
Urgot has been using Heartsteel as a second purchase, after rushing Black Cleaver. This combination creates a powerful synergy with Overlord’s Bloodmail, which is often picked as the third item. Heartsteel’s 900 health greatly enhances the passive of Overlord’s by converting 2% of bonus health to attack damage, boosting both tankiness and damage output.
Recommended Rune Page for Urgot
The best rune page for this build includes Press the Attack with Triumph, Bloodline, and Cut Down, followed by Free Boots and Approach Velocity as secondaries. This combination optimizes both survivability and damage for Urgot.
Item Changes in Patch 14.19 for Aatrox
Patch 14.19 introduced an interesting new core build for Aatrox that has been highly successful in Solo Q. Eclipse is no longer performing well as a rush item, and new builds have emerged as more effective choices for Aatrox.

Suned Sky vs Eclipse: Aatrox Build Adjustments
While the Suned Sky and Eclipse used to have nearly identical win rates as rush items on Aatrox, recent changes have shifted the balance. Suned Sky is now winning over 2% more as a rush item, making it the superior choice. Instead of building the standard Eclipse, this build focuses on rushing Suned Sky, going for Sterak’s Gage second, and Death’s Dance third.
Synergy of Death’s Dance on Aatrox
Death’s Dance is an underrated pickup for Aatrox due to its passive synergy with Aatrox’s healing abilities. The item’s passive delays enemy damage over three seconds, giving Aatrox more time to heal and avoid being burst down. Combining the Sterak’s Gage shield with Death’s Dance’s Ignore Pain passive grants Aatrox immense strength in extended fights.
Recommended Rune Page for Aatrox
The Keystone Rune for this build will be Conqueror, with Triumph, Legend: Alacrity, and Last Stand, followed by Bone Plating and Revitalize for secondaries. This rune page complements the build, maximizing both survivability and damage potential in prolonged engagements.
Graves Build Resurgence in Patch 14.20
A Graves build is making a comeback in patch 14.20, thanks to significant buffs to The Collector. The cost of the item is dropping from 3,400 gold to 2,950 gold, making it a much more viable early-game rush item. Although you lose 10 attack damage on the item, the reduced cost allows for quicker item completion and a stronger early game.
Infinity Edge Viability in New Patch
Going into Infinity Edge as a second item has become much more viable in this patch, making a full crit setup a strong option. The Keystone Rune for this build is Fleet Footwork, followed by Triumph, Alacrity, and Coup de Grace. Free Boots and Cosmic Insight are recommended for secondary runes to maximize mobility and utility.
Core Build for Ivern
The core build for Ivern involves rushing Redemption, followed by Moonstone Renewer, and then Dawn Core. This setup maximizes durability for any teammate shielded. The Keystone Rune will be Aery, followed by Nimbus Cloak, Transcendence, and Water Walking. For secondaries, you should take Cosmic Insight and Futures Market for efficient item timing.
Vegar’s Winter’s Approach Rush
One of the most interesting builds emerging from this patch involves rushing Winter’s Approach on Veigar. While tank items have traditionally been good on Veigar, this setup focuses on rushing this particular tank item to boost his survivability while still maintaining respectable damage output.
Winter’s Approach Rush on Veigar
Dead Man’s Plate has been used as a later-game pickup in the past, but we’ve never seen a tank item become a first purchase until Winter’s Approach entered the meta. The stats behind rushing Winter’s Approach are incredible, with the item performing at the same win rate as Rod of Ages. Winter’s Approach is quick to complete at only 2400 gold, transforming into Fimbulwinter for added durability and shielding when Veigar lands his stun.
Build Path for Veigar
Winter’s Approach is the only tank item in this build, followed by Rabadon’s Deathcap second, and Void Staff third, especially in games against assassins or heavy dive compositions. This setup lets Veigar play more aggressively and look for picks with his E while benefiting from the additional durability of Fimbulwinter’s shield.
Recommended Rune Page for Veigar
The rune page for this build includes First Strike, Free Boots, Biscuits, and Cosmic Insight, with Manaflow Band and Transcendence for secondaries. This combination maximizes Veigar’s mid-game spike and improves his ability to stay aggressive while scaling.
Huous as a Rising Item for Talon
Huous has risen in priority for a few champions after recent item adjustments, and it’s performing exceptionally well on Talon. Huous is a strong item for snowballing assassins like Talon because it grants bonus AD for each kill, making it a fantastic choice for solo queue, where snowball potential is key to dominating games.
Talon’s Hubis Build
By rushing Hubis, you can maximize the value of its passive, especially on Talon. Given Talon’s exceptional roaming potential, if he starts snowballing early, he can stack kills rapidly, resulting in a significant bonus damage increase from Hubis. The second item in this build will be The Collector, followed by Edge of Night. Talon’s Keystone Rune will be Electrocute, with Sudden Impact, Eyeball Collection, and Ultimate Hunter, while Nimbus Cloak and Scorch are selected for secondaries.
Lucian’s Stronger Build in Patch 14.20
A more powerful build for Lucian in patch 14.20 involves rushing The Collector. This is the same core build mentioned for Graves, where you rush The Collector, go into Infinity Edge second, and then either Lord Dominik’s Regards or Rapid Firecannon third. This build offers significantly more burst potential compared to Essence Reaver into Navori Quickblades, making capitalizing on catch plays easier.
Best Rune Page for Lucian
For Lucian, the ideal rune page includes Press the Attack, Presence of Mind, Legend: Bloodline, and Coup de Grace, with Free Boots and Biscuits as secondaries. This setup enhances Lucian’s mid-game power spike, increasing his damage output with Infinity Edge as the second item.
Draven’s New Build in Patch 14.19
A new Draven build has been emerging in the meta during patch 14.19 and is expected to gain even more traction in the upcoming patch. Draven’s ability to capitalize on aggressive early-game plays with this build makes it a strong choice moving forward.
Draven’s Hubis Build in Patch 14.19
Hubis is back on Draven and has become a powerful rush item, fitting perfectly with his need for early-game snowballing strength. The more kills Draven secures, the stronger Hubis becomes, granting him immense burst power in the mid-game. While this isn’t a full lethality build, Hubis is the only lethality item, with Bloodthirster being the second core item.
Bloodthirster’s Role in Draven’s Build
Even though Draven doesn’t rush Bloodthirster, it’s arguably more effective as a second item. Its recent changes make the shield less potent early on, so delaying it allows for a more balanced mix of burst and sustain. The Hubis and Bloodthirster combination is excellent for Draven, giving him both aggressive burst damage and much-needed sustain in prolonged fights.
Rune Page for Draven
Draven’s optimal rune page should prioritize Lethal Tempo, which has shown greater results since its return. Press the Attack is still viable, but Lethal Tempo has become the preferred choice for Solo Queue, especially in combination with Draven’s aggressive playstyle.
Rising Priority of Dawn Core on Enchanters
Since the 14.19 item changes, Dawn Core has become a much more prioritized item on several enchanters and supports. The item’s utility and power boost have made it a key component in support builds, providing significant advantages in both healing and shielding.
Soraka’s Build with Dawn Core
Soraka is looking incredibly strong with Dawn Core, particularly when used as her second item. Many enchanters prefer Dawn Core as a third pickup, but Soraka benefits from it earlier, gaining a significant boost to her heal and shield power. This setup grants Soraka a massive mid to late-game spike, allowing her to keep teammates healthier during extended team fights, especially with the reduced damage in the game following the last patch’s item changes.
Core Build for Soraka
Soraka’s core build should consist of upgrading Dream Maker, followed by Moonstone and Dawn Core. This combination enables her to heal consistently and maintain the health of her team throughout longer fights, further enhancing her role as a sustain-focused support.
Rune Page for Soraka
For Soraka’s rune page, you’ll want to run Aery with Manaflow Band, Transcendence, and Scorch, complemented by Bone Plating and Revitalize as secondaries. This setup boosts her healing and defensive capabilities, ensuring she can keep her team in top shape.

Nerfs to Rakan’s Core Items in Patch 14.9
Rakan’s two core items, Zeke’s Convergence and Locket of the Iron Solari, were nerfed in patch 14.9, reducing their overall power. These changes have affected Rakan’s build and playstyle, requiring adjustments to maintain his effectiveness in the current meta.
Prioritizing Trailblazer for Rakan
Despite recent nerfs to other items, Trailblazer is the item you should be prioritizing as a rush on Rakan. In patch 14.19, Trailblazer received buffs while other melee support items were nerfed. For heavy engage supports like Rakan, Trailblazer is an excellent choice due to the bonus movement speed it provides. Movement speed is crucial for positioning in engage plays, and Trailblazer also offers 40 armor, significantly more than Zeke’s or Locket.
Building Rakan After Trailblazer
After building Trailblazer, your next item depends on your team’s needs, with Zeke’s Convergence, Locket of the Iron Solari, and Knight’s Vow all being viable second picks. The support item upgrade you’ll want to aim for is Celestial Opposition, which complements Rakan’s engage and defensive capabilities.
Rune Page for Rakan
For Rakan’s Keystone Rune, you should take Guardian, followed by Font of Life, Bone Plating, and Revitalize. In the secondary tree, Zombie Ward and Ultimate Hunter will provide added utility and cooldown reduction for Rakan’s ultimate, enabling more frequent initiations.
