So, buckle up and let’s explore the top 10 OP builds that are taking over the Rift this patch!

Bloodthirster Ezreal is now the most optimal way to play him. There’s a new Hybrid Yoro Build that’s been on the rise. We’ll be covering all this and much more as we break down 10 of the Most OP Builds for Patch 14.14.

Top Lane Builds

Starting things off with a couple of Top Lane Builds, there’s a new hybrid Yoro setup that’s been picking up traction as of late. It works really well to counter more Bruiser or tank comps.

Hybrid Yoro Build Details

Black Cleaver is the rush item. You go Spear of Shogun’s second and then Liandry’s third. There are a ton of perks to going for this build over the more popular Lethality Setup, the first being that you are a lot more durable as every single item in this build provides health, so you have more margin for error.

Yoro’s Damage Potential

You also have way more Damage Potential coming out of your Ghouls and Maiden, as the Liandry’s especially allows for your Maiden to hit really hard with all the burn damage being applied. Shojin and Liandry’s both synergize really well together too because they both have ramping passives.

Synergy of Shojin and Liandry’s

The longer you’re in combat, the more value you get out of Shojin and Liandry’s, and Yoro is a champ who can really take advantage of this. All in all, it’s a really great build right now that we would definitely recommend you try, especially if you’re in a matchup against a tank.

Rune Page for Yoro

The standard rune page that you should be taking is Conqueror with Absorb Life, Haste, and Cut Down, while Demolish and Bone Plating are for secondaries.

New Ornn Build from Korea

There has been a New Ornn Build going around over in Korea, but it’s yet to become very popular in the Western regions. The rush item is very standard with Sunfire Aegis, but from then on out is where things get interesting.

Korean Ornn Build Details

Instead of building Thornmail and Jak’Sho like most Ornn players do, the Koreans have been going Warmog’s second and Abyssal Mask third. Warmog’s is just way too good of an item right now for most tanks to pass up on.

Nerfs and Build Adjustments

It’s being nerfed for this patch. The nerf only affects you if you’re rushing the item, which is not the case with this build. Abyssal Mask is a pretty underrated item in general right now and for a champion like Ornn, who actually has some pretty respectable damage output, the Abyssal purchase helps add to that.

Benefits of Abyssal Mask

When you have Abyssal and are within 600 units of enemies, you reduce their magic resist by 20%. So, it not only helps you kill your target but gives your teammates added follow-up damage too. This build has been the highest win rate core on Ornn for the past little while now, so if you have yet to try it out and are an Ornn player, definitely give it a shot.

Rune Page for Ornn

Rune page for Ornn consists of Grasp with Demolish, Second Wind, and Overgrowth, followed by Free Boots and Biscuits for secondaries.

New Sejuani Build

You need to start taking advantage of this new build on Sejuani as she’s one of the best tank junglers with this setup. Many Sejuani jungle players are building Sunfire into Thornmail, but the two-item core that is leading to far greater results is a Zeke’s Convergence rush into Warmog’s second.

Sejuani Build Details

Warmog’s is just such a no-brainer pickup on Sejuani right now, so it’s a bit baffling that more players are not running it. It’s more understandable as to why players are not running Zeke’s since it is less commonly used.

Sejuani Build Overview

It’s generally not an item bought on junglers, but it synergizes super well with Sejuani. Zeke’s Convergence only costs 2200 gold, gives you all the stats that you want, and has an incredibly strong passive that synergizes with Sejuani’s engage. Whenever you use your R with Zeke’s, the passive will slow the enemy and provide you with bonus magic damage, which allows Sejuani to capitalize on R plays super well.

Early to Mid Game Power

Since Zeke’s is only 2200 gold, you’ll have it quite early on in the game, so it really helps with your early to mid game snowball power. The third item in this build is Knight’s Vow, as you are building Sejuani more like a support than a jungler. This three-item core is being played a ton in High ELO right now but is not as recognized in the lower ranks, so look to take advantage of it.

Rune Page for Sejuani

The rune page for Sejuani consists of Aftershock with Font of Life, Conditioning, and Overgrowth, while Triumph and Alacrity are for secondaries.

New Briar Build

Briar builds have been all over the place as of late, but a new setup that has been finding a ton of success in solo Q revolves around Overlord’s Bloodmail. You’re rushing Blade of the Ruined King, going Black Cleaver second, and then slotting in Overlord’s third.

Effectiveness and Durability

Briar is a champion who can drop quite low on health but still remain very effective due to her healing and damage reductions built into her kit. This allows Briar to take advantage of the Overlord’s passive better than most champs, as you gain bonus AD the lower you drop on health. The damage output with this build is quite good, but you’re also very durable at the same time due to the health from Cleaver and Overlord’s. The Blade rush helps you snowball really well early on and then transition into the mid game.

Team Fighting with Briar

Where you’ll be team fighting more, Black Cleaver and Overlord slot in really well. The optimal rune page for Briar is Press the Attack with Triumph, Alacrity, and Last Stand, while Free Boots and Jack of All Trades are for secondaries.

New Rune Page for Xerath

There’s a new rune page that has been finding a lot of success on Xerath as of recent, but it’s still quite underrated. In patch 14.13, Riot changed Dark Harvest so that you gain more damage per stack, and it’s led to Xerath winning a lot more with the rune.

Benefits of Dark Harvest

Xerath is a champion with long-range poke power, so his ability to consistently proc Dark Harvest throughout the game is really good. Once you get a bunch of stacks with Dark Harvest, the value from the rune is really consistent with Xerath, as it makes finishing off kills with R that much easier.

Comparison of Runes for Xerath

If you’re taking Comet on Xerath and using R from a super long range, often times the Comet proc won’t even go off if the enemy has a ton of movement speed. Whereas with Dark Harvest, you’re always getting guaranteed bonus damage. Throughout all ELO brackets, Dark Harvest has been winning around 52.5%, while Comet is around 51%, and First Strike sits at 51% as well.

Complete Rune Page for Xerath

Here’s a look at the complete rune page: Dark Harvest with Cheap Shot, Eyeball Collection, and Ultimate Hunter, while Manflow Band and Scorch are optimal secondaries. The core build for Xerath consists of Luden’s rush into Horizon Focus second, and then Rabadon’s third.

Gallo’s Versatility and Meta Build

Gallo is currently one of the best counters to AP mids due to his Meta Build that has him rushing Hollow Radiance. But there’s a variation to the setup that has started being played more, making him a very well-rounded pick. Sunfire Aegis has been seeing a lot more play on Gallo as of late, and it’s actually performing very well.

Optimal Rush Options for Gallo

With both Sunfire and Hollow Radiance as optimal rush options for Gallo, it really opens things up for the champion to be a legitimate blind pick. You don’t have to worry about what the enemy team is drafting because you can adapt your rush accordingly.

Full Build and Advantages

The full build of this Sunfire rush consists of Riftmaker second and then Frozen Heart third. There’s lots of armor coming out of this build, which gives Gallo the ability to shut down more AD-heavy comps.

High Win Rates and Build Versatility

Gallo has actually had one of the higher win rates for any midlaner over the past few patches. Especially with all of this build versatility, he’s a really great addition to your champion pool for Patch 14.14.

Optimal Keystone and Runes for Ezreal

It’s going to be Aftershock for the Keystone Rune, with Shield Bash, Second Wind, and Overgrowth, while Nimbus Cloak and Transcendence are for secondaries.

Bloodthirster as the Best Third Item

For quite some time now, Ezreal players have been slotting in Spear of Shojin as their cookie-cutter third item, but that has all started to change. The best third item that you can buy on Ezreal for 14.14 is now Bloodthirster. Even though the ADC item changes have been live for a few patches now, it’s only recently that Ezreal players began experimenting with Bloodthirster.

Increased Durability with Bloodthirster

Patch 14.13 is when it really started to gain traction in solo Q, and we should see it even more throughout this patch. With Barrier now in meta for ADC and in combination with the shield that you’re able to get from Bloodthirster, it makes the durability of Ezreal really good. The champ is already pretty difficult to single out in a fight due to his mobility from E, so when you add on all this extra tankiness, it becomes almost impossible to kill a good Ezreal.

Sustain and Core Build for Ezreal

The added sustain from Bloodthirster is also really nice because if you get poked out in a fight, you’re able to heal up off minions very fast and get right back in there. So, the core build that you need to be playing on Ezreal for 14.14 consists of a Trinity Force rush into Manamune second and Bloodthirster third. For the rune page, grab Press the Attack.

Rune Page for Attack with Presence of Mind

The optimal rune page includes Press the Attack with Presence of Mind, Haste, and Cut Down, while Biscuits and Jack of All Trades are for secondaries.

Shift in Meta for Jhin Build

With The Collector nerfed a few times in recent patches and Statikk Shiv getting buffed up quite heavily, we’ve started to finally see a shift in the meta for the build on Jhin. Jhin players over in Korea have started rushing Statikk Shiv a lot more in recent patches, and those who have are winning way more than players rushing The Collector. It’s about a 3% gap right now, which is quite significant.

Early and Late Game Itemization

The first two items in the build are going to provide Jhin with a bunch of upfront damage as you’re taking Shiv into Rapid Firecannon to really bolster your mid to late game. It’s going to be Infinity Edge as the third pickup. A really big perk to running this two-item core is that you have so much more movement speed than if you go The Collector into Infinity Edge.

Movement Speed and Survivability

You gain 7% MS from Shiv and then another 7% from Firecannon, so you’re zooming around the map and kiting out fights extremely easily with this core. The amount of damage that you can output does not matter at all if you’re just dying at the start of every fight. So, especially in games where the enemy comp has heavy dive threat, definitely look to try out this Shiv rush into Firecannon second.

Rune Page for Fleet Footwork Build

The rune page to go along with this build will be Fleet Footwork with Presence of Mind, Bloodline, and Cutdown, while Celerity and Gathering Storm are for secondaries.

Tom Kench’s Comeback

One support who had been quite bad for a long time but has finally started to make a comeback as of recent is Tom Kench. This is mainly due to his new core build providing him with a ton of durability and damage output. Rush item is Heartsteel, and then you build into Warmog’s second.

Synergy with Tom Kench’s Kit

Even though Warmog’s is weaker as a rush item for Patch 14.14, it’s not weaker at all if you build it second. This setup on Tom will continue to be great for this patch. Tom’s two main damage sources are his passive and Q, and both of them scale off of bonus health. You’re getting 1,900 bonus health from Heartsteel and Warmog’s, so the synergy with Tom’s kit is incredible.

Benefits of Bonus Health

The more health you get, the harder you are for the enemies to take down, but the more damage you deal as well. It’s all about stacking as much health as possible. The keystone rune that is actually performing the best on Tom Kench support is Grasp of the Undying. Grasp is winning more than Guardian as it gives Tom more selfish dueling power and makes his ability to win out in skirmishes a little better.

Underrated Karma Build

For a few patches now, but still quite underrated, a build that we want to bring light to consists of rushing Echoes of Helia. The most popular build for Karma support right now is a Shurelya’s rush into Imperial Mandate second, but it’s not what’s been performing the best.

Optimal Itemization for Karma

Helia rush into Moonstone second has been working really well on Karma, especially after the recent buff she was given to her E shield. Echoes of Helia has turned into one of the best support items ever since it was buffed earlier in the season, and Karma is a support who can take full advantage of it.

Utilizing Echoes of Helia

You acquire Soul Shards from Echo whenever you deal damage to an enemy, and Karma is an enchanter who wants to be poking a ton with Q, so you’re going to be stacking up shards very easily in fights. These Soul Shards are then consumed when you shield your teammates with E to provide them with a bonus heal and also bonus magic damage.

Benefits of Moonstone as Second Item

Once you complete Moonstone as your second item, it’s going to bolster the shielding effect from your E even further, so you have the ability to keep your team sustained and protected in fights.

Keeping Your Carries Alive

Your carries stay alive really well in team fights. A duo that you can run for this patch with great success due to their new builds is Ezreal and Karma. Ezreal is already super difficult to take down with his new build, and with Karma, you’ll be offering him even more shielding and movement speed to keep him safe in fights, making him nearly unkillable.

Optimal Rune Page for Karma

The best rune page to go along with this build is Aery, followed by Manflow, Transcendence, and Gathering Storm, while Font of Life and Revitalize are for secondaries.
