Hello, guys, I’m Librarian Husky. Senna is a champion with immense potential in the ADC role, and understanding her mechanics and build is crucial for success. Reptile, a seasoned challenger player, shares insights gained from extensive experience playing Senna.

Senna Guide: Mastering the ADC Role

Optimal itemization revolves around starting with Shieldbow, providing essential stats like mobility, attack speed, and AD. Black Cleaver complements Senna’s kit well, offering synergy with her abilities. Choosing between Rapid Fire and Runaan’s depends on the situation; Runaan’s excels in teamfights with its multi-target efficiency.

Mastering Senna’s Combos and Abilities

Senna‘s gameplay involves mastering animation cancel combos like Auto-Q-W-Auto and Auto-W-Q-Auto, maximizing her damage output. Leveraging Rapid Fire allows for extended range engagements, while Runaan’s enhances multi-target damage potential. Understanding her passive, which requires hitting enemies twice within a timeframe to gain stacks, is essential for maximizing her impact in fights. Utilizing Fleet Footwork efficiently on Q enhances sustain and trading potential. Lastly, timing her ultimate after applying crowd control effects ensures its effectiveness, denying enemies the opportunity to escape. Senna’s kit offers diverse strategic options, making her a versatile and potent pick in the bot lane.

Laning Phase Strategies

Some nice trading combos in lane: Auto-Q or Q-Auto and, if possible, step back into a bush to make enemies lose vision and avoid them trading you back. If you chase enemies, queuing first is better to slow them. Otherwise, you should use Auto-Q to slow them later so you can kite out easier. You can also use Auto-Q-Auto for an extended trade. Another cool trick you can go for is transferring a teammate from one bush to the other using the E mechanic I showed at the start of the article. You can also act like you overstep, then use E and help your teammate get into a bush for a lane gank.

Let’s get into Senna’s laning phase. It is really important to know that Senna has one of the worst pushes level one. So, if your support is not significantly stronger than the enemy support, you will never get pushed. Your attack speed is very low and your Q barely deals damage on minions in early levels. Then is also not very good at all-inning just because of her low DPS in the early game. But what she’s very excellent at is slowly choking out the enemy, taking a small trade, and then healing back up with Q and Fleet. So, the goal in every laning phase is to get as many souls as possible.

As I mentioned before, you get a soul if you deal two damage instances on a target that hasn’t been marked. If you deal two damage instances on a target that doesn’t have a cooldown on your passive. So the goal in every lane phase is to try and get Auto-Q, Q-Auto, W-Auto, or just two autos, whatever combination of two damage instances you can go for on the enemy and then basically leave and heal back up.

In this lane, for example, we are playing against Lucian and Braum. Lucian and Braum are obviously better at pushing and better at all-inning, but what they’re weaker at is the sustain part of this lane. Alistar has a heal from his passive and Senna has a heal from her Q and obviously my Fleet as well. So my goal in this lane will be to do Auto-Q trades mainly on the enemy and then walk away. They’re already trying to pressure really hard with the bush. And if we try to contest the bush, we’ll obviously lose a lot of HP since we’re walking into them and then they can all-in us.

As you can see, I take an Auto-Q trade with Braum and I already got four souls. I actually very much grieved the early part of this laning phase by getting hit by two Braum Qs and I even mispositioned, but Alistar actually bails me out with his W. The push is really uncontestable as you can see and that is also the weakest point of Senna and what will make it hard for your team to play in a lot of cases is enemy pushing and then roaming with their support. Senna is usually the best scaling AD carry in the game but this can lose you games very early on this champion. Unfortunately, very bad W on my side. And I tried to predict his dodge and he didn’t dodge at all. But I get two souls off of hitting the Lucian from one time and then queuing both of them. And as you might notice at this point, we’re already winning in the HP department.

Laning Phase Strategy and Soul Collection

We’re both still full HP even though I didn’t play the laning phase perfectly. But we keep hitting with Senna Qs and Alistar’s passive. They can only go lower HP. And this is the goal that I mentioned. Auto-Q. Get a soul. So the Q-Auto is actually 99% of cases faster unless you time the Auto-Q perfectly because the way it works is you Q and then your auto instantly goes out if you’re in range when you right-click them.

Meanwhile with Auto-Q, you have to time the Q perfectly after your auto. Now there’s still incentive to do the Auto-Q trade because sometimes you want to slow them for you to walk away while on Q-Auto you want to slow them so you can walk up first and get the second soul. But sometimes you want to Q-Auto farm the soul when you chase enemies. So it really depends on do you want to chase someone to grab the soul or do you want to Auto-Q so you can run away from them and like slow them later.

Yeah, I make a mistake. I think the enemy is basing so I try to match the base but they actually fake it and stay. So they end up crashing the wave and I lose it. What I should have done in this position is actually fake that I’m basing, stay out of vision, pretend I’m basing, and then try to cheese them or just keep them in the lane longer. Obviously, this is kind of a mind game. So what would end up happening is I stay out of vision, and the enemy might not stay, and then I up my tempo.

So, it’s kind of a flip. But in this position, there’s really nothing I can do. I have to freeze and I kind of need to hold the freeze. So, I really have to gamble if the enemy feels forced to break it, which they should kind of. So my goal is to stay out of vision, fake recall one time and if they then at this point like after 10-15 seconds not show then I can very likely say they based and then I can take my base as well to prevent it in the future from happening. Kind of predicting them to dodge but they never actually end up dodging which is kind of sad.

Auto-Q on the minions and another soul. I already have 23 souls and that’s really great because generally at 20 minutes you want to have about 60 to 90 souls. 60 being like pretty low at 20 minutes while 90 being like absolutely insane. And you got to keep in mind you get more souls later on in the game because you clear waves faster. You can roam around the map more because of that. And um yeah, you’re able to get more jungle camp souls or just souls on other lanes.

The thing with Senna after laning phase is also that she gets souls quite easily from letting teammates just clear waves.

Optimizing Soul Farming on Senna

So at some point once you have your core items, you kind of just want to let your teammates clear the waves instead because the souls just have more value than what items can get you later on in the game. 60 souls is literally 45 AD and 60 extra range. So once you double that, that is kind of crazy, right? 90 AD and 120 extra range, which is very insane. And as I was talking about earlier, same thing is happening again. We’re never really all-inning them, which is farming souls off of them and healing back up slowly getting them lower and lower until they’re eventually in kill range.

Auto-Q, Q-Auto, whatever combination. Just farm the soul. I think a few autos there because I’m not sure which target I want to focus. doesn’t really matter in the end because we get both. Another trick with Senna that you can very much easily use to juke enemies out of the lane phase is starting the auto attack, making them think you finish the auto attack and then just canceling it to dodge an ability. This is really useful versus Braum Q in this matchup. For example, I walk up to the Braum, I pretend I auto attack them, and then I cancel my auto and walk to the side.

And here very much the game is already won and the lane phase is already won because we have almost 40 souls at 9 minutes. As I said, you get less souls in the laning phase compared to later on. So we can expect about 90 souls right now at 20 minutes and that is just absolutely insane. Senna, as I said, best scaling AD carry in the game. They shouldn’t be able to do much more from this point on because we’re winning early game as a hyper scaling AD carry.

Obviously want to look to ult at level six. Always look around for your top and mid lane. See if there’s any fights there. And same thing as before for this whole all-in slowly wiggle him down. And then once he’s low enough, we can actually bait him to dash on us because that’s his only wincon at this point. Trying to all-in us, trying to all-in us and not able to do so anymore when he’s half HP and we’re full. Lucian is in a really desperate spot. Like Lucian is way too low range to do anything to Senna once she gets soul. So he really has to win early game against you. And if he doesn’t win early game, then it’s really really.

So we can draw a little conclusion from this laning phase. We can generally see low range is pretty bad into Senna because she just outranges and farms souls easily on them. While high range is really hard to deal with because if they outrange you, you can’t farm souls on them and you cannot get range and scale for the late game very easily because on AD carry Senna, the easiest way to get souls is from trading a lot versus enemies, right?

Optimizing Senna’s Matchups and Item Build

Rather than farming minions since the soul drop rate is lower when you last hit them. So in general, you want to try and pick Senna into low range matchups that also can’t really all-in you and you want to avoid playing into high range. So what you’re looking for is you ban Ezreal or something like Sivir. Sivir is not really played that much. So I ban Ezreal. Then most matchups are actually pretty easy. And then most matchups are actually very winnable. I think another hard matchup is probably going to be Varus. Lucian isn’t the easiest if they have like an army or something.

As you can see, just play fights slowly. Never really overcommit. You don’t have the highest all-in damage, but in fights, you can slowly kite them. You have so much movement speed because you literally always rush Swifties. They can’t really slow you that well, too. I’m kind of going to a wrong build in this game. I’m going the Kraken build still. But as I mentioned earlier, the best build is Shieldbow into Black Cleaver and then either Rapid Fire or IE into either Rapid Fire or IE. Runaan’s can also be a good replacement for Rapid Fire and it’s definitely worth to go for if you can auto attack multiple targets in a fight since it also reduces your Q cooldown by 3 seconds in that case and farm souls on multiple targets at the same time.
