Welcome, Summoners! I’m Librarian Husky, here to guide you through the exciting updates and changes coming to League of Legends in Season 15. From new epic monsters to innovative runes and reworked mechanics, this season promises to shake up the gameplay we know and love. Let’s dive in and explore everything you need to stay ahead of the curve and dominate the Rift!

New Runes in Season 15

First up, the new Rune will replace the Nullifying Orb in the Sorcery tree. This Rune will increase your ultimate’s damage, healing, and shielding while refunding a percentage of its cooldown upon Champion takedowns. Deep Ward is another new Rune added to the Domination tree, replacing Eyeball Collection. When you place a ward in the enemy jungle, you will be granted bonus health, which lasts 30 to 45 seconds longer based on your champion’s level. Upon reaching level 11, wards in the river will also last longer. However, control wards will not benefit from this Rune.

Grizzly Momentos

The second new Rune being added to the Domination tree is called Grizzly Momentos, which will replace Ghost Poro. This Rune will allow champions to gain permanent trinket haste upon takedowns, granting four haste per stack, up to a maximum of 100 haste at 25 stacks.

Final Rune Addition

The fourth and final new Rune added for Season 15 will replace Zombie Ward. When using this Rune, you will automatically track untracked nearby wards. At level 11, nearby wards will be revealed for 10 seconds. It appears that this entire new set of runes added to the Domination tree is focused on enhancing vision.

Changes to Teleport Mechanics

As this blue orb teleport is going to move slower now, however, when you have unleashed teleport, it will move faster. Since normal teleport moves slower, you will once again be able to use your teleport to minions and wards prior to 14 minutes.

Introduction of Epic Monsters

Of course, the game-changing addition to League for Season 15 is the introduction of the new epic monster called Oton. Oton will spawn at 20 minutes and has the ability to appear either in the top or bottom lane, always on the side of the map that has the most kills, deaths, or damage dealt by 14 minutes.

Spawn Mechanics and Terrain Markers

At that 14-minute mark, terrain will appear on the side of the map where Oton is going to spawn, giving players plenty of time to realize which side of the map he will be on. Oton will have two alternating forms as well.

Ruinous Oton

The first form is called Ruinous Oton, which will spawn in higher kill games. If you kill Ruinous Oton, you will gain increased effects from all epic monsters. Blood roses will appear on the ground from 14 to 20 minutes, and after killing Ruinous Oton, these blood roses will grant experience and permanent adaptive damage.

Voracious Oton

The second version of Oton will be called Voracious Oton, which will spawn in lower kill games. Upon taking down Voracious Oton, your entire team will gain a single-use resurrection. You will also receive increased gold generation from champion takedowns.

Changes to Spawn Times

Since Oton is going to spawn at 20 minutes, Riot is changing the spawn times for both Herald and Baron. Rift Herald’s spawn timer is being pushed back by 2 minutes, moving from 14 to 16 minutes. Baron’s initial spawn time is being extended by 5 minutes, from 20 minutes up to 25 minutes. Additionally, a new mini-objective is being added.

Feats of Strength in the Game

The game called Feats of Strength consists of three main objectives: First Blood, first turret, and first to three epic monsters. If your team completes two of these feats, you will gain the Blessing of Noxus buff. This buff grants everyone on your team a boost in power for tier 2 boots. You will also gain the ability to purchase a tier three upgrade for your boots. However, you can only buy these tier three boots when you have two legendary items completed. For example, if you have Plated Steel Caps, the tier 2 bonus will grant you five armor, while the tier three upgrade will provide an additional five armor, five movement speed, and a new effect that grants you a physical shield equal to 10% of your max health upon taking damage.

Changes to Gold Rewards and Team Dynamics

With these Feats of Strength bonuses being added to the game, First Blood and first turret blood will no longer grant any bonus gold. As a result, the solo snowball power is definitely reduced due to this change, but the overall team strength is increased. A quick yet impactful change being introduced for next season is that teams will no longer have a varying number of autofilled players. This should lead to fewer complaints about being stuck in difficult positions, which is a bit unfortunate, but it is a positive addition that should result in fairer and more competitive games overall.

Structure of Season 15

Season 15 will be structured differently than what we have been accustomed to in the past. Instead of the three splits we had last season, there will now be three thematic seasons. Each season will last approximately eight patches. It is also important to note that at the start of each new season, your rank will not reset; there will only be one ranked reset at the very beginning of Season 15, and then no further resets for the entire year.

Overview of Season Themes

Each of these three seasons will have a specific theme, and Season 1 will kick things off with a Noxus theme. Each season will be divided into two acts, with event passes. The duration of these passes will be longer than before, and here’s a look at the rewards you can obtain from both a free pass and a paid pass.

Event Pass Rewards

All the rewards will be displayed on the screen, and you can pause to read what you get. Despite the lack of ranked resets at the start of each new season, there will still be three Victorious skins available for you to obtain. You will need to win 15 ranked games at the beginning of each new season to be eligible for these skins.

New Game Mode: Swift Play

A brand new game mode called Swift Play will be introduced in Season 15, replacing Quick Play. In this mode, players will receive more gold and experience than usual as games progress. The effectiveness of comeback XP and gold will be increased, turret plates will fall off earlier, and Baron will spawn sooner.

Gameplay Changes in Swift Play

Teams will only need to secure three dragons to gain the soul bonus, and support and jungle quests will complete faster. Support items will cost more but offer increased stats. Essentially, this new mode is designed for a more chaotic version of League, empowering players and potentially altering the competitive landscape. Additionally, Season 15 will introduce a multiplayer option for practice.

Exciting Changes in Season 15

This season is going to be amazing in many different ways, as players will now be able to test things much easier. The maxing of certain elements will become even more intense. In terms of champion updates, we are set to receive visual and gameplay updates for Viktor and Shyvana, while Malphite will also undergo a visual update.

Nexus Turrets Respawn Feature

Another significant change in gameplay for Season 15 is that Nexus turrets will have the ability to respawn. This is particularly beneficial when your Nexus turrets fall, allowing for more opportunities to make comebacks even if you have stalled to the point where you are stronger than your opponents. The respawning of Nexus turrets will definitely enhance the chances of making a comeback during intense matches.

Stack Counter for Champions

For champions who possess stacking abilities, many will receive a stack counter displayed under their health bar. Champions such as Ashe, Caitlyn, Jax, Kennen, Shyvana, Skarner, Twisted Fate, Volibear, and Zed will benefit from this new counter feature, adding a strategic layer to gameplay.
