Fastest Cars Guide in GTA Online
Introduction and Methodology
This guide ranks the fastest cars in GTA Online by maximum speed as of early 2026. A lot has changed: new vehicles were added, and on PC the Hao’s Special Works modifications became available. Speed tests are done on fully upgraded cars under the same conditions, with a 60 FPS cap. Values are not taken from in-game speedometers, which are often inaccurate.
How Max Speed Is Measured
To get a reliable top speed in the Creator, use a measured stretch of road:
- Pick a test section and note the distance between two markers.
- Use a long run-up so the car reaches its maximum speed before the timed segment.
- Drive from the first marker to the second several times and take the average time.
- Convert seconds to hours, then apply the formula: speed = distance ÷ time to get km/h (or mph if needed).
This method gives consistent, comparable results for all vehicles.
Top 10 Fastest Cars Without Hao Mods
The first list is for cars without Hao upgrades, so it fits races where those mods are disabled and players on the Legacy version. Vehicles with boost that cannot be used in standard races with their class are excluded; police cars are also left out, as they are not meant for racing.
Places 10 to 6
The D10 is the fastest among police cruisers and still makes the top ten. Just behind it, or virtually tied, is the Arena War Dominator with its boost; the difference is within margin of error, so they share the tenth spot. The Itali RSX still holds a strong position: even with stronger rivals in races, it remains great for missions and free roam. The Emperor sits in eighth place; on a straight line its boost does the job. The Tariador stays in the top tier thanks to its boost and is one of the best and most enjoyable cars for handling on corners. The Pariah holds sixth place firmly in 2026.
Top 5 Without Hao
A newcomer takes fifth place, close to the Pariah; their order can be swapped within margin of error. With a clear gap, the Weevil Custom takes fourth: top speed alone will not win you races if you struggle with control, but on a straight it delivers. The top three:
- Third place — Banshee GTS. Over 322 km/h is no joke. Sport cars beating super cars on top speed is unusual by in-game class logic, but the Banshee does it. Without boost, the Banshee GTS would be the fastest car by top speed without Hao mods.
- Second place — Arena War ZR380. It edges out the Banshee when boost is allowed.
- First place — Vigilante. It remains the leader: a very fast car with stiff handling that, once you get used to it, dominates on straights. Speedrunners often choose it for a reason. This applies to the Legacy version; in the Enhanced version, much faster options exist with Hao mods.
Top Cars With Hao Modifications
Hao’s modifications change how a car behaves when fully applied. Twelve cars and one bike beat the Vigilante on a straight with these mods, so a separate ranking is needed. This section covers the fastest vehicles in the Enhanced version with Hao upgrades.
Middle of the Pack
The Deveste Eight beats the Vigilante by a clear margin; the Vigilante’s built-in boost cannot close the gap on a long straight. The Entity MT reaches a similar speed — a solid super car, but not ideal for racing. Slightly ahead is the Turismo Classic; also a strong car, though racing with it can be demanding. The Banshee opens the top ten with a clear tenth place. The FMJ hits 250 km/h and leaves many older cars behind. The Stirling GT is just a touch faster than the FMJ; the difference is small but kept for consistency. The Karin S95 sits in seventh — debatable, but commonly placed there. The Hakuchou Drag firmly takes sixth: the only bike with Hao mods and a top choice for speedruns in the Enhanced version. Both Vigero ZX versions are among the best muscle cars for racing and take fourth; the car is excellent even if it is not in the top three by raw top speed.
Top 3 With Hao
Third place — Stirling GT. Fast and hard to catch on a straight; worth trying if you have not already. Second place — Stinger. It takes time to get going, but on a long straight it delivers. It is much more stable than the Tampora, though some find it less exciting. First place — Banshee GTS. The absolute leader in top speed with Hao mods: first place with no need to argue about margin of error. Deserved and consistent.

Summary and Tips
As of early 2026, the rankings above reflect the highest top-speed vehicles in GTA Online in two categories: without Hao (Legacy and races with mods off) and with full Hao upgrades (Enhanced, PC).
- Max speed is not everything. Acceleration and grip matter just as much in races; high FPS and slopes on stunt races can push any car beyond these numbers.
- Vigilante and Banshee GTS remain top picks for raw speed in their respective contexts; the Tariador and Weevil Custom are strong all-round choices for both speed and handling.
- If new fast cars are added and make it into these tops, the list can be updated accordingly.
