Introduction and Overview

In the updated GTA 5 Online you receive 4 million dollars at the start, and you must spend at least 3 million. That sum is enough for a solid beginning. This guide explains the best career path, bunker and business setup, and how to earn your first millions efficiently as a newcomer.

Career Choice

You get four criminal career options. Picking the right one shapes your early progress.

  • Boss (CEO / Office): Not recommended. Organisation and office business are no longer the most effective way to farm, especially for beginners.
  • Gunrunner: Strong choice. You get access to a bunker and passive income. Worth taking.
  • Nightclub Owner: Good later goal. For full profit you need technicians and extra club businesses; on a tight budget it is not the best first step.
  • Biker: Poor for starters. Solo play is inefficient, profit is low, missions are costly and logistics are heavy. The club only shines during Rockstar bonus weeks (e.g. 2x or 3x sales).

Why Gunrunner

Between Boss and Gunrunner, Gunrunner is the better pick. The bunker gives you passive income; the Boss path keeps you grinding manually. Once you choose Gunrunner, you receive the bunker and it becomes your main base and stable earner.

Bunker Location and Options

Choose the Chumash bunker. It has a good location and delivery routes and saves time and hassle. The Farm bunker is ideal but not available at start, so Chumash is the best option. For upgrades, you get staff and equipment only in a bundle; skip the full set at first and take the personal quarters so you can spawn inside the bunker, then buy staff and equipment upgrades in-game later.

Bunker Setup

In the transport section, two options stand out.

  • Armored Kuruma: Best default choice. Windows are bulletproof, so it is excellent against NPCs and players without explosives. It is all-wheel drive and handles well on and off road, ideal for missions and solo play.
  • Nightshark: Can take 8 RPG and 26 homing missiles and has built-in guns, but windows are not bulletproof and side plates are still penetrable. It is also more expensive; for beginners Kuruma is cheaper and more versatile.

To meet the 3M spend you can add the Bestia GTS or a cheaper car and weapons. For weapons, take the RPG (vehicles and helicopters), Special Carbine (versatile, accurate), and Mini SMG (good for drive-by). Confirm your career and head into the game; complete the intro and the first bunker mission to meet the agent.

Vehicles and Weapons

You get a starter car, but the updated game adds the Hao’s Special Works (HSW) tune. This mod improves performance and unlocks time trials with solid payouts. To get a suitable car for free, go to the spot shown in guides and drive the route; between 22:00 and 04:00 in-game time a special car can spawn. Take it to Los Santos Customs, fit a tracker and full coverage, then visit LS Car Meet, buy membership for 50k, and run the HSW time trial. Beating the target time gives you the free HSW upgrade for that car.

Bunker Business

The bunker is one of the most reliable businesses in GTA Online. You manage it from the laptop inside.

Staff and Supplies

You can set staff to research (unlocks upgrades, no direct income), production (weapon manufacturing and income), or 50/50.

  • For profit, use production only. Do not rely on stealing supplies; buy them for 75,000.
  • With staff and equipment upgrades you get product worth 210,000135,000 profit per run.
  • Repeat the supply cycle up to five times per full bunker for about 675,000 in mostly passive income.
  • Every 48 minutes real time you can run the excess weapons sale mission for 50,000 extra.
  • Buy staff and equipment upgrades from the bunker laptop or add them later; start with personal quarters, then upgrades.

Hao and Racing

After fitting the HSW tune you unlock weekly Hao’s Special Works races (marked on the map). Winning pays 250,000. Standard time trials (any ground vehicle, no boost) pay 100,000 per run; they are often on harder routes. Hao’s races are easier and recommended for beginners.

HSW Tune and Time Trials

LS Car Meet lets you tune cars without level locks from Customs. Use it to upgrade your HSW car and then run the weekly races for steady income.

Daily Earnings

Several activities help you earn without big investments.

  • Drug labs (daily): Clear the location, get the safe code, take the cash. Reward: free supplies (best if you have bunker or acid lab) or 30,000 if you have no businesses.
  • Stashes: Search the marked area for a hidden stash; reward 5,000–20,000.
  • Bicycle time trial: Bike is provided. Finish in time for 50,000.
  • Casino wheel: One free spin per day — cash, chips, clothes, or a car.
  • Parachute jumps: Gold on all 10 jumps pays 150,000 (50,000 per gold).
  • Photo safari: Find and photograph three different animals and send to the Los Santos tourism site. Two photos pay 20,000 each, the third 60,000 — 100,000 total per day.

Taxi and pizza delivery are only worth it during 3x bonus weeks. Daily and weekly challenges in the Interaction Menu (Trials) give cash and RP; completing all three daily objectives pays 30,000 and 5,000 RP, with extra bonuses for 7-day and 28-day streaks.

Gun Van

The Gun Van appears at one of many map spots (changes daily). You can buy weapons that are locked by level in Ammu-Nation, plus rare or removed guns (e.g. Rail Gun, Minigun, Compact EMG), body armor, and ammo, often at a discount. Check it regularly for good deals.

Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid

One of the best early money makers is the Cluckin’ Bell Farm raid (from the police station marked “B”). It includes five prep missions and a finale.

  • The finale pays 500,000; full run can be under an hour, or 30–40 minutes with practice. A 48-minute cooldown follows.
  • Use snacks from the Premium Deluxe Motorsport lobby (free, unlimited) and restore health via Interaction Menu → Health and Supplies → Snacks; in combat, open the weapon wheel and use the quick snack key.
  • Do all stealth prep objectives (keycard, witnesses, trucks, CCTV) so the finale can be done in stealth. Follow a step-by-step stealth guide for the finale to clear it smoothly and avoid alarm.

First Dose and Acid Lab

The First Dose story line unlocks the acid lab. Each of the six missions pays 50,000, and the final one gives 250,000 — 500,000+ total plus a free Brickade 6×6. You then install the acid lab in the Freakshop for 750,000; it becomes your second business and pays back quickly. Complete the First Dose missions (Dax and the Freakshop) to unlock the lab. The Last Dose line (five missions) rewards a free Virtue supercar, which can be armored at the Agency workshop.

Acid Lab Management

The lab has supplies and product. Production runs only when supplies are in. You can buy supplies for 60,000 or steal them (slower). With upgraded equipment (unlocked after 10 Dax missions, 50,000 each, 48-minute cooldown between missions) income rises. Buy the upgrade in the Freakshop for 250,000. Drug lab clears can refill supplies for the bunker or acid lab at no cost.

Kosatka and Cayo Perico

For the best solo heist, buy the Kosatka submarine (2.2M base). Go to Music Locker under the Diamond Casino to trigger the intro cutscene, then buy the sub on the Cash and Carry site. The Sparrow helicopter (optional) speeds up preps and costs extra; total about 4M. A standard Cayo run pays around 1M; the first run pays 1.5M. Skip other sub upgrades; they add little. Use a dedicated Cayo stealth guide for preps and finale.

Nightclub

Once you have capital, buy a nightclub (e.g. via foreclosure site, preferably in Los Santos).

  • Skip cosmetic options; invest in warehouse floors (up to four) and garage (extra delivery space and vehicle storage).
  • At high popularity the safe earns 50,000 every 48 minutes. Keep popularity up by doing blue-marked missions (e.g. throw out a troublemaker for 10,000), driving VIPs home, or swapping DJs (first DJ 100,000, then 10,000).
  • The basement links to your other businesses (coke, bunker, meth, cargo, forgery); hire technicians to fill warehouse. Sell when ready; no supply buying needed.

Agency

An Agency (around 2M) is a strong investment.

  • Dr. Dre Contract — about 1M for the full run (~1.5 hours).
  • Security Contracts — 30k–70k per job; Rescue, Gang Termination, and Recover Valuables are efficient. Every five completed contracts raise your daily passive income by 500, up to 20,000 per day (safe cap 250,000).
  • Payphone Hits — ~50,000 with the provided weapon, less if you use your own.
  • Start the Franklin storyline from the golf club to unlock the contract; the Agency has a Vehicle Workshop where you can tune and armor the Virtue.

Oppressor and Next Steps

After your first millions, the Oppressor Mk II is a top pickup. It makes missions and travel much easier. To add homing missiles you need the Terrorbyte; buying it also drops the Oppressor price from 8M to 6M after completing five Client Jobs in the Terrorbyte. The Terrorbyte itself is one of the most durable vehicles in the game. From there, expand businesses, run Cayo and Agency when off cooldown, and keep the bunker and acid lab supplied for passive income.

Conclusion

Follow this order for a smooth path to your first millions:

  • Start with the Gunrunner career and Chumash bunker; add the Armored Kuruma and recommended weapons, then run the bunker with bought supplies and optional excess sales.
  • Unlock HSW and weekly races; do daily activities and the Cluckin’ Bell raid.
  • Complete First Dose for the acid lab and Last Dose for the Virtue.
  • Save for the Kosatka and Cayo Perico, then the nightclub and Agency.
  • Add the Oppressor Mk II and Terrorbyte for efficiency.

This path gets you to steady millions and endgame content without wasting time on weak starters like the Biker or Boss-only route.
