“Increased Item Quantity,” or “IIQ,” is a mechanic in Path of Exile 2 that boosts the number of items you get from enemies, chests, and various league encounters. It used to be a cornerstone of classic Magic Find (“MF”) builds, helping players rake in as much loot as possible.

How IIQ Affects Loot

IIQ increases the sheer amount of items that drop, but it doesn’t change how rare they are. That’s where “IIR” (Increased Item Rarity) comes in. While IIR makes it more likely for drops to be Magic, Rare, or Unique, IIQ just ups the overall count—whether it’s basic gear or currency.

Let’s say a monster normally drops three items—adding 50% IIQ might bump that to four or five. Because of this, IIQ was once a top-tier stat for builds focused on mapping and farming massive amounts of loot.

Where You Can Still Find IIQ

Although players can’t stack IIQ on gear like they used to—since GGG has removed it from most equipment—it hasn’t disappeared completely. You can still find it through:

  • Map Modifiers – Certain map rolls include IIQ, making them more profitable to run.
  • League Mechanics – Some league events temporarily provide an IIQ boost.
  • Party Play – Loot scales with the number of players in your group, acting as a kind of built-in IIQ.

Does IIQ Still Matter in Path of Exile 2?

Definitely—just not in the same way. While gear-based IIQ stacking is gone, it still plays a key role in loot-heavy strategies, especially when farming maps or running high-clear-speed builds. These days, many players shift their focus to IIR to chase more valuable item drops, but IIQ remains useful when you’re aiming for volume.

If you’re serious about loot efficiency, especially when running maps or playing in a group, understanding how IIQ fits into the bigger picture is still super important. It may not be as dominant as it once was, but it’s far from irrelevant.
