Neon’s Upcoming Nerfs in Valorant

Neon will finally get some improvements, as confirmed by a source directly. This isn’t a leak, but an official message from the developers, in which they admit that Neon is too strong right now and that they are working on reducing it. These changes are planned for patch 9.11, which is about three weeks away from release.

Upcoming Changes in Patch 9.10

Before Neon’s nerfs arrive in patch 9.11, next week’s patch 9.10 will introduce other updates to characters like Sage and Phoenix. Phoenix’s wall will now pass through other walls, and a new regen shield will also be available. While these changes will arrive soon, Neon’s adjustments will come later in patch 9.11.

Potential Changes to Neon’s Abilities

The main change needed for Neon seems to be her 100% accuracy while sliding, as it feels frustrating to play against. Tweaks to her ultimate could also help balance her abilities. It’s interesting how Penguin, one of the game designers, specifically mentioned wanting to maintain her “grounded movement combat fantasy.” This suggests they aim to position Neon as a movement duelist, competing with characters like Jett and Raze.

Maintaining Grounded Movement

Developers seem to want Neon to have movement advantages without excessive aerial mobility, keeping her more grounded than characters who can fly or enter quickly. This could mean adjustments to her movement capabilities, similar to recent changes for Raze, who can no longer move as freely in the air.

Expecting Upcoming Changes

We’ll need to wait a few weeks to see how these changes play out in-game. This announcement from one of the developers offers a preview, but the specifics of Neon’s adjustments will be clarified in the near future.
