Hey there, it’s Librarian Husky! Let’s get you nice and powerful early on in Once Human. To begin with, you’re going to want to progress until the point where the game gives you the bike. This happens incredibly early and is very easy to do. If you explore a bit, youβll likely end up in a similar place to me. I’m level five simply because I cleared one area to gather materials and make things a bit easier for myself.
Weapon Calibration and Preparation
Once we have the bike, the next important step is to ensure that youβve calibrated your weapons. If you’re unsure how this works, head back to your base and access the gear workbench, which the game will direct you to anyway for crafting your first weapon. Youβll see the calibrate option on the right side. The first two levels only require copper ingots, and youβll likely gather enough Stardust while clearing zones in this area. Itβs definitely worth upgrading your weapons to plus two or plus three.
Choosing Your Preferred Weapon
The pistol is a solid choice to upgrade, as it’s likely to stick with you longer. Weβll quickly replace the crossbow, so itβs not worth spending resources on it. Focus on building one weapon that you’re comfortable withβpersonally, the pistol remains one of my favorites, even in the later parts of the demo.
The Versatility of the Pistol and Upcoming Weaponry
I can’t guarantee that the pistol remains as effective in the late game, but right now, it’s a solid all-around weapon. Soon, weβll be switching to a powerful sniper rifle. At this stage, the game has also provided you with two of the best armor sets, which can be combined for an optimized experience.
Optimizing Armor Sets for Speed and Load Capacity
Youβre given the Raid set, which increases Gathering speed and maximum load. While perfecting a build is an option, our main focus is the 15% Gathering speed and plus 20 Max load. Combine this with four pieces from the Rustic set, boosting movement speed and Gathering speed even further, making progress through the game much faster.
Focusing on Weapon Calibration Over Armor
Although armor can be calibrated, there’s no immediate need for it. Prioritize weapon upgrades, as enemies in the second area aren’t overly aggressive. Their attacks wonβt deal significantly more damage, but your enhanced damage output will ease your progression. Now, weβll head south, giving you a clear marker to follow.

Navigating to the Target Location
I’ll show you exactly where we’re heading. As we move south, the Delta splits into two sections. Donβt worry about encountering too many enemies along the way. Look for a dark splodge on the map, and from there, head west. Follow the top road instead of the bottom pathβthis will make the journey much easier. Set a marker on the warehouse that should be visible on the map.
Choosing the Best Route and Fast Travel Points
As you follow the road, the game may suggest a lower path, which you can take if you wish. Along the way, there are fast travel points, such as Mayor’s Market, that you can visit. If you want an extra perk, there’s a deviant nearby that you can place in your base to assist with logging. It won’t make you overpowered, but it will improve the game experience.
Final Stretch to the Enemy Camp
Now, simply follow the road. You wonβt encounter any enemies until you arrive at the entrance to the enemy camp. A few minutes of driving later, youβll reach the zone. From here, itβs up to you how to proceed.
Tackling the Area and Managing Enemies
If you decide to take on the entire area, be cautious of the elite enemies. However, we’re not going to face them directly. I’ve already taken out the sniper near the tower, so it’s no issue. You’ll notice the enemies are around level 19, but most of the damage in this game comes from your weapons. Character level doesn’t significantly impact how much damage you deal.
Stealth Approach and Avoiding Unnecessary Fights
I recommend staying in sneak mode to avoid attracting too much attention. Our goal is to reach the warehouse with the red roof. If we find any loot along the way, we’ll take it, but the focus is the target. When you come across the red train, avoid the right-hand side to minimize encounters. Instead, head left to bypass more enemies.
Dealing with Drones and Clearing the Path
Keep an eye out for drones as you make your way through the trains. Itβs essential to avoid triggering unnecessary combat in our current vulnerable state. There will be three enemies on the left side that we need to eliminate before we can proceed.
Securing the Sniper Rifle
Once those three enemies are down, youβre free to claim the powerful sniper rifle. If you have grenades or other heavy weaponry, now is the time to use them. With the enemies down, the fight can be tough, but manageable.
Preparing for the Carnival of Doom
I probably should have mentioned setting up a camp outside in case you die, but as you can see, I’ve managed just fine. There’s a gear chest here, but it’s optional for what weβre about to do. Instead, I recommend interacting with the Carnival of Doom quest. We need to do this quickly, as enemies will respawn if we’re not careful.
Starting the Carnival of Doom Quest
This quest may seem eerie, but it’s straightforward. You canβt interact with the NPC right away; youβll need to accept the challenge first. After that, heβll mention something suspicious, prompting you to use your scan. You’ll notice a cable leading toward the back of the room. Be cautious and don’t rush, as this part can be tricky.
Solving the Puzzle and Advancing
Look for the character luring nearby and climb up to spot him. Make sure to trigger all the dialogue, as Iβve had some issues with it progressing. Once you talk to Chuckles, you should now have the option to select “need some fresh air.” After this, the red door will open, allowing you to proceed.
Moving Forward Stealthily
With the red door open, weβll continue forward, but stay in sneak mode. Itβs unclear how difficult the enemies ahead might be, so caution is essential as we proceed.
Eliminating the Enemy and Investigating the Cheating Devices
This enemy may seem tough, but in this game, backstabs are instant kills. Sneak up, stick a knife in him, and you’re done. Now, we can investigate the cheating devices. Once thatβs handled, itβs time to defeat Chuckles at his own game. Head back and interact with himβit doesnβt matter which option you choose, both work equally well.
Escaping and Claiming the Sniper Rifle Blueprint
After finishing the interaction, itβs best to run off as enemies will have respawned. While itβs not a big deal, avoiding unnecessary fights is ideal. Youβll now have a new sniper rifle blueprint, and you should find a copy of the sniper rifle in your inventory. This weapon is tier 2 and requires level 10 to use. If you’re not level 10 yet, you can either level up or craft a new one.
Crafting and Upgrading Your Sniper Rifle
If you want to create a new sniper rifle, Iβll show you how in a second. Once crafted, this weapon is incredibly powerful. You now have a choice: follow me to get a logging beaver for passive wood collection, which will gather 2,000 wood while you sleep, or fast travel directly back to your base.
Getting the Logging Beaver
If you want the logging beaver, set a marker on the docks just south of Mayor’s Market. While you’re here, interact with the Fast Travel point so you can access this area later. Once you reach the docks, head toward the small shack, look to the water, and youβll spot the deviant on the right-hand side. You have three chances to catch it, but itβs usually not too difficult.
Using the Logging Beaver for Resource Gathering
Once youβve captured the logging beaver, you can teleport back to your base. If you prefer, you can wait around to gather more resources and catch another one later. This will save you the trouble of farming wood manually, which is incredibly useful. Now, letβs head back to our territory to proceed with crafting.
Crafting the Tier 1 Sniper Rifle
At your base, you can now construct the tier 1 version of the sniper rifle, provided you have enough copper. Build the rifle and make some ammo for it. This weapon is exceptionally powerful at lower levels, and using it will be quite amusing when you see its impact.
Setting Up the Beaver and Butterfly
Afterward, set the beaver in your isolation unit. You can also carry the butterfly with you for added utility. This combination will enhance your resource gathering and make your progression smoother as you continue.

Building and Equipping the Butterfly
If you go into your buildings, select facilities, and navigate to the functional section, with a little glass and copper, you can build an additional unit. Place your butterfly here, as explained in the tutorial. Once it charges, it will automatically gather wood and bring it back to its case, so you wonβt need to gather wood manually anymore.
Testing the Power and Stability of the Weapon
Even without calibration, the sniper rifle is incredibly powerful. Youβll notice that even when moving side to side while shooting, the weaponβs stability remains outstanding. The crosshairs barely leave the target, and the rate of fire is fast enough to deal with multiple enemies at once, making this weapon highly effective.
Weapon Reload and Game Progression
The only downside of this sniper rifle is its relatively long reload time. However, with its immense power, this won’t be a significant issue. Combined with the armor set that grants 35% extra craft speed and plenty of health, the game will become much easier. Just ensure that you keep upgrading your gear to the current tier and apply decent calibrations to handle tougher enemies.
