What’s up, rivlers,I’m Librarian Husky, and welcome to the season 2 tier list for Marvel Rivals. This season brings a ton of new changes, buffs, nerfs, and of course, a brand new hero.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 Tier List Overview

So, this article is going to serve as your introduction to the competitive meta for the new season and to give you a good idea of what is generally weak and strong. Now, before we get into the list, I want to say that first and foremost, Marvel Rivals is a video game, and it should be played for fun. So, even if your favorite hero is low on the list, you can of course play whatever you enjoy and still hit a very high rank if you put in the time and learn your character. But this tier list is here for those who want to speed up their climb, learn the game at a higher level, and stay on top of what is current.

So, let’s get right into it. Starting off in D tier, the absolute bottom of the barrel. And actually, for season 2, I don’t believe any hero is in D tier compared to season 1 and season 0 when a lot of heroes were either severely undertuned or just hadn’t found their place in the game yet, like Wolverine back when the game first came out. Player base has gotten a lot better. It really feels like even average skill level players have a pretty decent grasp on every character’s strengths and purpose in the game. So, it really does feel like right now there is no character that’s completely worthless and thus there is no D tier.

Moving into C tier. These are heroes that are either undertuned, have a lot of hard matchups in the meta, or just are outclassed by characters that do the same thing but better. Iron Man did receive some buffs for season 2, but they still fall short from keeping him as a strong pick in the meta. Other than his somewhat reliable ability to KO strategist out of their ultimates, Iron Man is just outclassed by the other flyers that you’ll see higher up the list. Thor is in the same boat. He just gets heavily outclassed by other bruiser tanks in both survivability, damage output, and just overall frontline capabilities.

Thor is just in this awkward spot where it doesn’t really feel like he fits into any team comp. And Scarlet Witch is once again finding herself in a not so great place in the meta this season. Her ultimate is just insanely difficult to land against players, especially now that we’re a few months into the game, and everyone knows exactly how important it is to gun her down during cast time. Now, she did get a new powerful team up with Doctor Strange, but she’s still going to remain on the lower end of the DPS characters.

Overall, Moon Knight’s relative ease of play means he is a consistent hero that will likely top the damage charts, and he’s also found some buffs this season, but they’re just not enough to make him a real threat when playing above the lower ranks in the game. He’s noob-friendly. He’s easy, but he cannot apply the same amount of pressure that the better DPS in the game can. Now, Moon Knight did get some increased projectile speed buffs, which lets him be a little less reliant on waiting for his enk to be off cooldown, but he’s still just too easy to pick off and dive for him to be a real threat as a DPS. Squirrel Girl feels like she is in a slightly better place than someone like Wanda when it comes to being a noob-friendly character, but she really just doesn’t bring the impact that other duelists bring. And that’s going to conclude our C tier.

Moving on up the list to B tier. Now, these characters are what I would call pretty average.

Continuing with B Tier Analysis

B tier comprises heroes that are considered pretty average in terms of their performance within the game. These characters neither excel nor lag significantly in comparison to others. They may have some strengths and weaknesses that balance out, making them middling choices for players looking for a moderate challenge and effectiveness on the battlefield. In this tier, you can expect a mix of abilities and playstyles that can be versatile but might lack the edge that higher-tier heroes possess. Some players may find B tier heroes to be a comfortable middle ground, offering a blend of usability without the complexities of high-tier strategies. As we delve deeper into the tier list, we’ll explore the nuances of each hero’s position and evaluate their potential impact on the evolving meta.

B Tier Analysis

They are 100% viable in the right hands, but don’t particularly stick out as something that is broken or even relatively strong. Starting off our B tier is Widowmaker, who has received multiple buffs in an attempt to make her somewhat viable, but honestly, this is probably going to be a hero that is consistently pretty low rated due to the difficulty of her kit. The game just moves insanely fast, and you have to be wildly skilled at Widowmaker to even get the simplest of plays done compared to the other heroes in the game.

This is a high effort, high risk with medium reward in return. You’re going to have a much better and easier time playing the other snipers in the game compared to Widowmaker. And I feel the same way about Magic and Black Panther.

Now, we’ve all run into one-trick prodigies on these heroes that just take over the game. But they’re honestly far and few between. And having one of these heroes on your team feels like a liability way more often than not. Now, moving on to Mantis. Her healing output really just can’t compete with the top-tier supports. It really feels like Mantis is kind of falling behind when it comes to strategists, which is a shame to see because I really love what she brings to the game with all of her offensive and defensive utility. But the reality is most strategists are picked for their ultimates, and Mantis at the moment has one of the weaker healing ultimates.

Storm and Punisher both feel like consistent picks with consistent damage output and consistently good ultimates, but gone are the days that you’ll really see these heroes taking over games like the picks higher up the list. Now, Punisher is always going to benefit from having a Rocket Raccoon, and spoiler alert, Rocket is really good this season, but other than that, he’s somewhat struggling to bring the pick potential of the higher tiers. Now, Jeff is in a little bit of a strange spot for season 2. I don’t think he’s necessarily bad, but it does feel like you’re wasting one of the strategist slots on your team by picking him.

If you’re only going to have two strategists, which most standard team comps will, I wouldn’t really recommend Jeff. But he still does slot nicely into a triple strategist comp where you can play a more aggressive dive and flank offensive style of Jeff, which is still very annoying and a very powerful playstyle. So yeah, purely being ranked as a strategist and healer, Jeff is firmly in B tier, but I would rate him slightly higher if you’re going to run triple strategist. And that is going to conclude our B tier.

A Tier Analysis

These characters are good or very good at what they do. And they might be slightly outclassed by picks at the very top of S tier, but these are good heroes to master in the new season if you’re looking to climb. And for the duelist, that is going to be Bucky and Star-Lord. Now, for the first time in a while, Bucky is not game-breakingly broken, having received some nerfs, but his pick potential and alt reset mechanic means if you get one reset, you’re probably going to get all of the resets. He doesn’t have too many bad matchups and he’s particularly good at playing versus dives, which is a very popular playstyle right now.

Bucky is just overall a very good duelist. And honestly, I feel the same way about Star-Lord. He is just a nice consistent pick as long as you’re reasonably decent at piloting the hero that can really open up team fights by getting a single high-priority pick with his ultimate.

Top Hero Picks for Climbing Ranked Matches

And he charges his ultimate very fast, which means he can get off multiple alts per round, which enemy strategists can’t really keep up with. Now, Spider-Man has kind of found his place as a hero that is really only played by one tricks, but he is one of the most maimed characters in the game, and Spider-Man players have now had months to perfect their mechanics and really find their place in the game. So, a Spider-Man player is very scary, but again, you should really only be playing this character if you’re willing to put in a lot of time.

Cloak and Dagger is an excellent strategist to climb through solo Q due to their multiple forms of self-healing, giving you a lot more agency since you won’t need to rely on the other supports to heal you. A Cloak and Dagger that’s using their cooldowns intelligently and not playing as Cloak for too long can keep their team alive through almost anything. Now, here’s one that might upset a few people because I’ve noticed that nobody wants this hero on their team despite him being quite strong, and that is Adam Warlock. He has excellent self-healing and burst survival with his ability that links his team’s health bars together. And to be honest, the worst part about playing this character is people thinking you’re throwing by not playing one of the more popular picks and just kind of giving up. But if you’re an Adam on a team that plays around the fact that you’re Adam, you have a lot of potential to carry the game.

Alright, now moving on to Doctor Strange. This character did receive some heavier nerfs to the point where even the most dedicated Doctor Strange players are claiming he’s trash now, but I personally believe he is still in a really good spot. He’s just not the absolute best tank in the game anymore. He got a new team up with Scarlet that makes Scarlet way more useful. His portal is still some of the most game-warping utility in the game. And his ultimate is still a great hard engage playmaking tool. He just does a little bit less damage himself.

Now, alongside Doctor Strange in the A tier vanguards is Captain America. Cap has some crazy mobility. He can be very hard to lock down and KO, and just generally creates a lot of chaos, breaking front lines, diving backlines, and his ultimate serves as somewhat of another support ultimate, which are the most powerful types of alts in the game. Captain America is a great disruptor, but definitely struggles as a solo tank, so make sure you’re locking him in alongside another tank. Penny got some excellent buffs that make her completely terrifying when playing on maps that are good for her. She really excels when put into defensive choke points and she can even use terrain to her advantage to find some really scary flanks. Penny is definitely one of the most unique heroes in the game and the season so far is treating her very well. And if you’re playing above gold rank, you likely never see this character due to his very high ban rate, but Hulk is indeed incredible with his new buffs for the season.

Hulk players were already some of the scariest tank players and now they’re just downright terrifying. But when it comes to pure dive tanks, Venom is right up there alongside him. There’s really not much to say about Venom other than his dive potential and ability to cause chaos on enemies backline is just very strong. Iron Fist is also at the top of the top in my opinion as a flexible pick that isn’t too mechanically demanding. If you master your decision-making on this hero, you will get a lot of mileage out of his damage output and survivability. Now, moving on to the S tier.

Top Tier Heroes in Season 2

This season showcases several outstanding heroes in the top tier, known for their exceptional performance. These heroes excel in various aspects, proving their versatility and effectiveness in different game scenarios. If your goal is to climb the ranks in season 2, these heroes are a must-have for your lineup. Starting with the tanks is Groot, a consistently valuable character known for creating space, advancing the team in convoy maps, and isolating enemies in any game mode. His significant damage output and ultimate ability synergize well with various DPS alts, making him a pivotal asset. The Thing shines in protecting the strategist from enemy assaults, boasting bruiser capabilities, crowd control skills, and a remarkable ultimate that aids the team’s damage dealers. Magneto has surpassed Doctor Strange as the premier shield tank, with an ultimate capable of bypassing enemy healing abilities, a crucial advantage for any tank. Moving on to the duelists, Hela and Hawkeye stand out. Hawkeye’s recent buffs have elevated him back to the S tier, showcasing exceptional damage potential and pick-off abilities that can sway team fights. Hela, like Hawkeye, excels in securing picks, solidifying her position among the top duelists. Mr.

Fantastic benefits from season 2 buffs, shedding his previous status as a suboptimal pick and becoming a viable choice. Wolverine reclaims his top-tier status by countering most tank heroes effectively. Emma, the new Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, embodies versatility and anti-dive tactics, offering crowd control, decent damage output, and an ultimate that disrupts enemy support abilities. Ney Moore serves as a powerful counter to mobile dive heroes, while Psylock proves to be a flexible DPS with strong burst damage capabilities and an ultimate that disrupts enemy strategies. The Human Torch emerges as a formidable duelist with enhanced maneuverability and zoning abilities, making him a challenging opponent for hit scan characters. His synergy with the Invisible Woman further enhances his survivability and impact in battles. Transitioning to the strategist category, Luna Snow and Loki reign supreme in the S tier.

Loki’s Potential and Recent Changes

Loki did receive some nerfs and you can feel them, but the potential this character has is basically infinite. And I still think we’re only starting to scratch the surface of just how insane of a kit Loki has. Luna’s ultimate is the support ultimate. So many matches revolve around it. There’s not much to say other than her ultimate basically turns her team invincible, and I’m kind of shocked we haven’t seen some significant Luna Snow nerfs.

Up next as an S tier strategist is the invisible woman, which means that the entire Fantastic 4 are in S tier. What a time to be alive. Her playmaking potential is great. Her survivability is great. Her healing is very good. And her ultimate is just like Luna Snow’s. Absolutely game-warping. And then we have Rocket Raccoon, who just a few weeks ago was seen as a troll pick by a large percentage of the player base. They have totally changed how Rocket’s healing orbs work. They reworked his ultimate to give less damage and more extra health.

Now you can easily match and surpass any other strategist healing. Season 2 is the season of Rocket thus far, and he is easily the biggest winner of the new patch. So, that is going to conclude our season 2 tier list. There are so many character interactions, counters, teamups, map differences, team compositions, and more that can definitely make characters weaker or stronger in certain scenarios, but this list is a great starting point to understand on a general level who is strong and who is a little weaker this season.

And of course, remember that meta really only matters in the higher levels of play. Anything below diamond, I firmly believe you can kind of lock in whatever you want and just get good at them. But as you move higher up the rank ladder, these heroes at the top will start appearing more, and you’ll probably want to start playing some of these characters if you want to have the highest chance of winning.
