Diablo 4 Class Tier List

Greetings, fellow gamers! In this Diablo 4 tier list, we’ll be assessing the various classes in the game as of patch 1.1.1. Additionally, I’ll provide an updated list of the top 10 builds for season 1. Patch 1.01 dropped recently, bringing buffs to sorcerer and barbarian builds, with a significant focus on improving sorcerer capabilities, along with some tweaks to other classes.

Class Tier Rankings

Let’s dive into the tier list that reflects the current class balance across all aspects of the game: 1 to 50 leveling, general in-game content, speed farming, and nightmare dungeon pushing. Classes that excel in multiple areas and offer a variety of strong builds rank higher on this list.

In the coveted S tier, we find the Rogue. The Rogue excels in nearly every aspect of the game. While it might not boast the absolute best builds for every scenario, it’s pretty darn close. With options like twisting blades, death trap, barrage, flurry, rapid fire, and penetrating shot, the Rogue covers a wide spectrum of activities. Choosing a Rogue means you’ll have an abundance of effective builds to tackle most of the game’s challenges.

A Tier: Druid and Necromancer

Moving on to the A tier, we have the Druid and the Necromancer. The Druid would undoubtedly belong in the S tier if not for its somewhat lackluster performance in 1 to 50 leveling. However, thanks to the pulverized build introduced in season one via the Codex, Druids now have a better early game experience.

Once you reach the end game, Druids shine with a plethora of viable builds such as werewolf, tornado, lightning storm, pulverize, and lightning shred. The only area where they fall short is in nightmare dungeon pushing, where they don’t have as many robust options as the Rogue.

Versalite class – Necromancer

The Necromancer is a versatile class, excelling in 1 to 50 leveling but often playing second fiddle in endgame content. Despite having potent late-game builds like bone spear, the infinimus build, and the omnistorm build, Necromancers don’t claim the top spot in any particular activity. Recent vulnerabilities nerfs have hit Necromancers hard.

B Tier: Sorcerer – Specialized but Limited

The B tier belongs to the Sorcerer, a class that shines in both 1 to 50 leveling and endgame speed farming. However, it struggles to find a footing in general endgame content and falls behind in pushing nightmare dungeons. For speed farming, Sorcerers have a range of strong builds, including blizzard, ice shards, chain lightning, and ball lightning. However, when it comes to other endgame content, blizzard remains their strongest option, making them generally weaker than several other classes, particularly in nightmare dungeon pushes.

C Tier: Barbarian – Struggling for Excellence

Lastly, in the C tier, we have the Barbarian. Its placement here is primarily due to its weakness in leveling from 1 to 50, making it one of the slower classes to progress through this phase.

Barbarians

Traditionally, Barbarians excelled with builds like Whirlwind and Hammer of the Ancients (Hoda). However, Hoda took a significant hit due to a bug fix, resulting in Whirlwind generally outperforming it.

Fortunately, the Barbarian has seen a resurgence with the emergence of the double swing build, which performs well, especially in nightmare dungeons. Nevertheless, no Barbarian build currently matches the excellence achieved by builds from other classes.

While Sorcerers excel in speed farming and leveling, Barbarians, unfortunately, aren’t exceptional in any particular aspect of the game.

Alternate Tier List: Post-50 Focus

For those who prioritize post-level 50 gameplay, here’s an alternate tier list:

  • S Tier: Rogue and Druid (Druid’s early game weakness is less relevant at this stage).
  • A Tier: Necromancer.
  • B Tier: Barbarian and Sorcerer (Barbarian’s leveling weakness is less impactful).
  • Top 10 Builds: Post-Patch Assessment

Before we conclude, let’s revise the top 10 builds for season one following the recent patch:

  • Twisting Blades (with an honorable mention to Death Trap).
  • Druid’s Werewolf Tornado.
  • Barrage.
  • Flurry Rapid Fire Rogue (a promising new build).
  • Lightning Storm.
  • Bone Spear.
  • Penetrating Shot.
  • Infinimist (with a nod to the emerging Omni Storm build).
  • Pulverize.
  • Double Swing (replacing Whirlwind as the top Barbarian Build).

These are my insights, but I’m eager to hear your thoughts. Which builds do you consider the best, and how would you rate the classes? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments.
