Hello, Librarian Husky here! What’s up, Diablo 4 players! The brand new update is here with the introduction of new treasure goblins. We also still have the Mother’s Blessing event, so you’ll be getting these brand new treasure bags. We’ll go over the best methods to farm them and what they actually drop. These bags are great for obtaining 925 gear, which is the bare minimum for it being good, but they’re also fantastic for getting aspects and certain uniques for your character’s builds. If you need specific aspects to run a different character, now is a great time to farm and build a second or third class in the game.

Treasure Bag Types

For starters, let’s open up the treasure bags and explore how to get them. Essentially, they’re obtained from the Goblins, as part of a new event. Opening the first bag, you can expect to find items like scattered prisms and ancestral items, although not every drop will be an upgrade. There are two different treasure bags: a greater treasure bag and a regular treasure bag. The difference between them is significant, as the greater treasure bag generally drops at least one unique item, which might be crucial for your build.

Farming Treasure Bags

Let’s open up the last bag and I’ll show you how to actually farm them. Keep in mind that amulets are always good to pick up because even if it’s not a greater item, you can get plus ranks to a very specific skill on the passive tree, allowing you to stack a bunch of extra stats. The farming process largely depends on how much sigil dust you have, so be sure to manage your resources wisely.

Crafting Sigils for Better Rewards

You can craft a bunch of sigils at any difficulty level to acquire treasure bags. I recommend going as high as you can because you’ll get better items when you complete the Nightmare Dungeon. The tier determines the level of the monsters, which in turn determines the level of gear. Aim to go as high as your character can comfortably manage, as you’ll also earn more glyph XP from these Nightmare Dungeons.

Optimizing Sigil Crafting

Keep crafting until you see the extra Shrine sigil. If it’s not 100% successful, don’t worry; you can craft a few at a time. For example, crafting three at once may yield useful sigils like increased Critical Strike or extra shrines. Salvage the ones you don’t need and keep crafting until you find the one with extra shrines, which is particularly valuable.

Playing in a Group and Gathering Resources

Ideally, try to do this in a group for better efficiency. If you need more sigil powder, head to the Hell Tides. There are other methods of farming, but starting with crafting is a good approach. Once you’ve crafted the desired sigil, proceed with your dungeon run, aiming for the extra shrines to maximize your rewards.

Exploring the Second Method: Hell Tides

We’re going to dive into the second method of acquiring these items, which involves Hell Tides. It’s particularly beneficial to do Hell Tides right now because there are more goblins, which means more boss materials to obtain those Mythic uniques. Start by entering the area, but note that while you’d typically want to complete the dungeon for the glyph XP, our primary focus here is on the goblins.

Searching for the Greed Shrine

In this dungeon, we’re mainly searching for a specific shrine, particularly the Greed Shrine. You might need to progress through certain areas of the dungeon, but you can skip most of it. Unfortunately, this dungeon isn’t the best for our needs, but persistence is key. We encountered multiple channeling shrines instead of the desired Greed Shrine, which is a rare occurrence. However, this randomness (RNG) is a realistic part of the process.

Optimizing Shrine Farming in Dungeons

If we can get one Shrine here, it would be ideal, but it seems we didn’t. So, we’ll just kill the boss and move on to another dungeon with a shrine. If you don’t need glyph XP on your character, you can skip killing the boss and open another dungeon. A useful tip is that instead of going back, you can right-click on the dungeon entrance to exit quickly, but you must do this outside the dungeon unless the boss is dead.

Efficient Dungeon Navigation

After killing the boss, you can use the exit immediately without backtracking. If the boss isn’t dead, you’ll need to exit the dungeon the traditional way. Although the shrine didn’t spawn this time, we’ll open another dungeon. If you need glyph XP, complete the dungeon fully. We’ll head to another area, hoping for the shrine to appear. On average, you should get one Greed Shrine, but you might encounter multiples.

The Importance of Group Play

It’s easier to farm shrines in a group because everyone can grab the shrine, but it’s important not to grab them immediately. For example, if you encounter Blast Wave, pick it up, and you might get the Greed Shrine next. We found Blast Wave, along with other shrines like Protection and the 100% crit one, making the farming process more efficient.

Finding and Utilizing the Greed Shrine

Finally, we managed to get a Greed Shrine. On average, you should encounter about one per run, but we were a bit unlucky. When you activate the Greed Shrine, it triggers a spawn of goblins as you kill more monsters. These goblins drop treasure bags, with some being greater treasure bags (marked by orange text) and others being regular ones (marked by yellow text). As you progress, continue to pick up valuable materials, but ideally, keep moving quickly to maximize the number of goblins spawned.

Maximizing Goblin Spawns

To maximize efficiency, try to kill as many enemies as possible without pausing. The more enemies you defeat, the more goblins will appear, increasing your chances of obtaining valuable drops. After clearing the area, you can go back to collect all the loot. This method ensures you get the most out of the Greed Shrine by triggering as many goblins as possible before looting.

Alternative Farming Method

If you don’t have enough sigil dust, there is another method you can use. This alternative is useful for those who may have plenty of sigil dust but want a more consistent farming approach. By employing this method, you can still efficiently gather treasure bags and other valuable items without relying solely on the Greed Shrine.

Farming in Hell Tides for Efficient Dust Collection

Another effective method is to farm in the Hell Tides, where you can obtain compasses that can be salvaged for more dust. While exploring, you might also come across various items, including swords, but the chances of finding Mythic uniques are uncertain. Although I haven’t personally seen anyone get a Mythic unique from these events, you can definitely obtain greater AIC species of gear. It’s important not to discard items on the ground; instead, salvage them before continuing to farm.

Maximizing Efficiency in Hell Tides

To maximize your farming efficiency, ride your horse in Hell Tides until you spot a goblin in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. Goblins are quite common in these areas, so keep an eye on the mini-map. Additionally, if you have profane mine cages, use them to gather more Cinders, which can be used to open chests for infernal compasses. These compasses can be salvaged for additional dust, further enhancing your farming efficiency.

Exploring Multiple Areas

Hell Tides consist of different areas where goblins are likely to spawn. As you farm, it’s beneficial to explore both areas to increase your chances of encountering goblins and obtaining valuable loot. This method allows you to gather dust and gear efficiently, ensuring that you make the most out of your time in Hell Tides.

Why Hell Tides Are the Best Farming Option

I recommend focusing on Hell Tides over other areas because they are a great source of materials. Goblins are pretty common in Hell Tides, although you can find them almost anywhere in the game, except for the Infernal Hordes. Previously, treasure goblins were present in the Infernal Hordes, but they were patched out. Your goal is to locate goblins on the mini-map and collect the treasure bags they drop.

Maximizing Loot from Treasure Goblins

Once you find a goblin, which typically appears every minute or so, collect the treasure bags they drop. Don’t forget to pick up other valuable materials like Elixirs and Living Steel. Sometimes, you can encounter a pack of three goblins, significantly boosting your loot. If you find amulets, even non-greater AICs, they can still be valuable. Some amulets can be sold for billions if they roll the correct stats, usually a bunch of plus twos, though this is rare.

Exploring PvP Zones for More Goblins

Hell Tides aren’t the only great area for farming; PvP zones also have a relatively high spawn rate for goblins. You don’t have to engage in PvP to benefit from this; the goblins alone make it worthwhile. However, if you’re interested in PvP, it’s an option available to you. These zones offer another excellent opportunity to gather valuable loot and materials.

Opening Treasure Bags and Building New Classes

We just obtained two treasure bags, so let’s open them up to see the results. It looks like we’re getting two legendaries, which is great if you’re looking to create another class. Whether you want to build a Sorc after playing Rogue or switch from Rogue to Barb, this method is a fantastic way to gather necessary items for your new character.

Exploring PvP Zones for More Goblins

This is a PvP zone where treasure goblins are really common. Even back in Season Zero, when this area was first nerfed, it remained a great spot for finding goblins. Although spawn rates might vary, it usually doesn’t take more than a minute to encounter goblins and start collecting extra treasure bags. These zones are fast and efficient for farming treasure bags, making them ideal for players looking to maximize their loot.

Nightmare Dungeons and Grim Favors

While farming in PvP zones is effective, Nightmare Dungeons are what you really want to focus on. As you collect seeds in these dungeons, remember that you only need to turn in one seed to receive Grim Favors. If a boss spawns, it’s usually very easy to defeat. Don’t forget to grab any extra treasure bags along the way, and keep in mind that you can also collect Living Steel, which is essential for taking on bosses.

Managing Seeds of Hatred and Boss Encounters

I wouldn’t worry too much about the Seeds of Hatred. You can pick them up and turn them in at the NPC, similar to how you handle obols. Killing the boss in this area will contribute towards your Whispers, though he won’t drop any treasure bags. However, you can still turn in the seeds for additional rewards. We’ll now open the last two treasure bags and discuss the best methods for acquiring them, as well as the most common areas for finding goblins.

Evaluating Treasure Bags and Mythic Uniques

This event is more of a fun opportunity, but if you’ve managed to get a Mythic unique, let me know, as it seems rare. Greater treasure bags usually drop unique items, so if you’re looking to replace a specific piece of gear, this could be a good source. For example, if you need a better version of an item like the Fish to Fate, these bags might help you improve your character significantly.

Event Duration and Final Tips

This event is not permanent; it ends on September 3rd. As soon as you enter the game, it will inform you about the event, but I’ve already covered the best farming areas. If you happen to find three treasure goblins in one run, take a screenshot—you’ll see the treasure bags and other valuable items like Distilled Fear or Exquisite Blood. I usually discard these after picking them up because they aren’t essential.
