Hello, Librarian Husky here! First, let’s talk about the leveling process and the recent state of the tier list in the game. Without a doubt, Rogue stays at the top tier of course, while Sorcerer has fallen from the S tier to the A tier.
Leveling Tier List
We can notice that there is a noticeable difference between the sorcerer and the rogue. The sorcerer possesses immense damage and area-of-effect (AOE) abilities, which are highly advantageous. On the other hand, the rogue excels in dealing significant single-target damage and boasts exceptional mobility. Before obtaining a mount, players might encounter difficulties progressing through challenges as a sorcerer or any other class, whereas the rogue’s mobility allows for smoother gameplay.
Moving on to the next class, let’s discuss the necromancer. This class offers impressive damage output, comparable to, if not surpassing, that of the sorcerer in some cases. However, the necromancer falls short due to its lack of movement abilities. If the necromancer had ways to enhance movement speed, teleport, or dash, they could easily rival the sorcerer. Unfortunately, they are hindered by their slow and sluggish movement, preventing them from reaching the sorcerer’s tier.

Barbarian Diablo 4
Now, let’s shift our attention to the barbarian (barb). I would place the barbarian in the C tier. Personally, I don’t believe any class is deserving of a D tier, as none of them struggle significantly. However, both the barb and druid face considerable challenges. There’s an ongoing debate about which class is worse between the two, but based on my observations and the experiences shared by other players, the druid appears to be the more difficult one.
The druid requires careful timing and coordination, which slows down gameplay considerably. In contrast, the barbarian, although dealing less damage than the aforementioned classes, can mitigate this drawback to some extent with certain legendary items from the Codex of Power. The druid, on the other hand, heavily relies on external factors to achieve even a moderate level of power, making its scaling process comparatively slower. However, as we progress toward the end game, the dynamics are bound to change significantly.
Endgame Solo
It’s important to note that this tier list is focused on solo play in the end-game nightmare dungeons, highlighting the classes’ performance in that specific context.
-
- Barbarian (Barb): Considered the best class, with strong builds and game-breaking aspects/uniques. Offers high damage and tackiness.
- Druid: Highly effective, often debated as S tier. Offers good damage and scaling mechanics, excelling in AOE and single-target damage.
- Rogue: A solid choice for damage dealing, but lacks survivability compared to other classes. Barb outshines the Rogue in both damage and survivability.
- Sorcerer: Offers good damage and safety from ranged attacks but falls slightly behind the Rogue in terms of overall effectiveness.
- Necromancer: Considered between B and C tiers. Offers enough damage but lacks viable minion builds. Falls short compared to Sorcerer and Rogue in survivability and damage output.

Endgame Group
In group play, the Barbarian maintains its S-tier position due to its ability to provide substantial support to the team. Multiple shouts and various support abilities make it a valuable addition. The Druid follows as A tier, offering damage and damage mitigation for the team. The Necromancer, despite being overlooked by some, excels in group play with its supporting abilities such as pixel pull and vulnerability. The Rogue, however, struggles to stand out in group play compared to the other classes and is possibly placed in the C tier.
We can summarize this tier list for group play: Barbarian (S), Druid (A), Necromancer (A), Sorcerer (B), and Rogue (C). In summary, the tier list for solo play consists of Barb and Druid in the S tier, Rogue and Sorcerer in the A tier, and Necromancer in the B tier. For group play, Barb retains its S tier position, followed by Druid and Necromancer in A tier. Rogue may drop to C tier in group play, and Sorcerer could be placed in B tier. Keep in mind that these rankings are based on end-game nightmare dungeon pushing, where survivability and damage output are crucial factors to consider.
