Hello, Librarian Husky here! Our CER cage companion construct has evolved from a Welp that existed to give us bonuses and nothing more to a faithful companion that does its damage, partly because we can level it up and get all the stones up to level 10 for the appropriate power. You’ve probably seen the ridiculous World Tier one videos with the five target dummies, in which people rack up unironic billions watching the construct work and boosting it while doing so.
1 Shot Every Boss On Every Class
The construct still tackles bosses alone in more realistic feature demos, like killing Duryal or even Uber Lilith solo. This got even better after a recent patch that increased the damage of various gems worldwide without any crazy customizations or anything silly. Josh can destroy a boss without doing anything in 24 seconds. The design completely engulfs that boss and does so very quickly. If Josh had fought the boss, then he would have been dead. So, we need to talk about the middle ground. How does that work? How can you use this in more realistic gameplay where you’re fighting, too? You need to understand how it works and then keep it in mind for future builds and items you might consider because of it.
Reducing the damage of your build
Let’s start by explaining how you can scale your construct’s damage in general. The concept is that you take your power, and then by amplifying yourself, the construct reflects it by feeding off the stats you have. That’s the concept, but it only works in practice.
Only certain aspects and combinations work to increase damage. In its simplest form, this comes by increasing attack power, crit chance, damage, vulnerable damage, and even attack speed. All of these things work and will be reflected in your build.
What works and what doesn’t
Let’s talk about what doesn’t work. Damage increases, like vanity, will increase your damage if you have an active barrier. The problem is that I get extra damage while I have a barrier active, but there is no barrier around the construct. Since he can only give us one barrier and doesn’t exist as a unit, he can’t take advantage of something like Stealth or any other barrier-related buff. The same can be said for things that increase damage when you fortify. You can fortify, true, but a construct can’t, so that’s another type of damage that doesn’t apply to a construct. It won’t affect the construct if it doesn’t directly affect your attack stats.
Effective ways to increase construct strength
Let’s try some things that work, like the Inner Calm aspect. This aspect increases your damage while you are standing still. So, when I’m moving, you can see that my attack power is 14,000; when I’m standing still, my attack power increases to 16, then 18. Of course, the higher the number, the more benefit the construct gets. There are plenty of ways to increase the power and, thus, the construct. The more I attack, the more I charge myself, and thus the construct gets more power. So far, we can see that my damage has increased to 40,000. I haven’t done anything special yet, and this is already significantly increasing the power of the construct, allowing it to do a lot of damage on its own, even though I’m just standing here.
Realistic Reinforcement Strategies
I want to show realistic ways to boost your construct’s power, and something like Inner Calm is rarely used in any build. If you have to keep yourself in that state, you’re doing something very niche and specific to utilize. Something that works interestingly for you and your build is damage while healthy. We can see how that affects my attack power. Right now, it is at the 18,000 level. When I lose those damage benefits while healthy, we’re down to 16,000 because it increases my attack power. We know it’s a build enhancer.
Bber has a great glyph describing this very concept. It might be worth incorporating into your build if you’re considering it. I recommend doing so. For every five units of willpower gained in range, you will increase your health damage, but you can also find health damage in the affixes on your gear, and, depending on your class, you can also find it in your skill tree.

Hello, Librarian Husky here! Our CER cage companion construct has evolved from a mere bonus provider into a formidable ally capable of inflicting significant damage. This transformation is mainly due to our ability to level up the construct and enhance its stones to level 10, unlocking its full potential. Recent showcases have highlighted the construct’s capability to tackle formidable foes such as Durial and even Uber Lilith single-handedly, a feat made more feasible by the latest patch that boosted stone damage. Josh demonstrated the construct’s efficiency by defeating a boss in just 24 seconds without active participation, showcasing the potential for a synergistic approach where both player and construct engage in combat for optimal effectiveness.
Scaling the Construct’s Damage
The key to maximizing your construct’s damage lies in understanding the mechanics behind its scaling. The construct mirrors your power, amplifying its abilities based on your stats. However, it’s essential to note that only specific stats and combos effectively boost the construct’s damage. Direct offensive enhancements such as increased attack power, critical strike chance, and damage, as well as attack speed, are mirrored by the construct, making them viable strategies for scaling its damage output.
Effective Damage Enhancement Strategies
Specific abilities and unique items can significantly enhance your and your construct’s damage. Abilities that trigger ‘Unstoppable’ can skyrocket attack power briefly, proving beneficial if you can manage such effects efficiently. Season 3’s updated Uber uniques, like the Starless Skies ring, offer up to a 40% damage increase when resources are expended, which benefits most classes and their constructs. Understanding which damage types and enhancements apply to the construct is crucial for optimizing your build and combat strategy.
Maximizing Vulnerable Damage
Vulnerable damage is another avenue through which the construct’s damage can be amplified. Affixes and abilities that increase vulnerable damage, coupled with strategies to apply vulnerable effects consistently, can lead to significant damage spikes from the construct. For instance, the Necromancer’s ability to consistently generate vulnerable effects through ‘Bone Spear’ can lead to impressive damage output from the construct, demonstrating the synergy between player abilities and construct performance.
By understanding and applying these strategies, players can significantly enhance their construct’s damage, leading to more effective combat and the ability to tackle challenging foes with greater ease.
Optimizing Construct Damage in Diablo 4
The best options for enhancing your construct’s damage include focusing on raw attack power, all damage enhancements, critical strike chance, and critical strike damage. Additionally, attack speed plays a crucial role; the higher your attack speed, the more the construct benefits. Therefore, equipping gear with affixes that boost these attributes is highly beneficial. It’s important to note that constructs do not benefit from overpowering damage or gain advantages from being shielded or fortified, as these mechanics do not apply to them. Builds synergizing these concepts will excel in season 3, offering optimal performance through the construct.
Effective Construct Damage Setups
Regarding the actual damage output of the construct, there are currently two prevalent setups, both utilizing the Tempest skill, albeit with different support options based on your class and build.
Tempest is effective because it damages an enemy, and upon its death, it spreads, becoming more potent with each bounce. Supporting Tempest with damage over time effects like burning or poison can significantly enhance its efficiency. For example, burning support increases critical strike damage against burning enemies by 40%, specifically from the construct. In contrast, poison support allows the poison damage to spread to other enemies, amplifying the overall damage output.
Maximizing Support Skill Effects
Enhancing the damage types associated with your construct’s support skills can improve its effectiveness. Given their class’s affinity with poison-based skills, poison damage enhancements can be particularly beneficial for Druids and Rogues. For Necromancers, dusk support can convert a portion of the spotted skill’s damage into shadow damage, dealt over time. Although this may not seem as impactful as other dot effects or critical strike damage enhancements, it aligns well with the Necromancer’s ability to enhance darkness and shadow skills, making it a viable option for enhancing construct damage through dot effects.
In summary, the key to maximizing your construct’s damage lies in enhancing your combat stats and choosing the right support skills for your construct, tailored to your class’s strengths. By focusing on these areas, you can significantly improve your construct’s performance in combat, making it a formidable ally in Diablo 4’s challenging encounters.

Maximizing Construct Damage for Various Classes
If I were a barbarian, I’d consider bleeding support because it’s an effect I can enhance, and sorcerers similarly have methods to boost fire and burn damage. The choice of support skills for your construct in Diablo 4 should be guided by your class and build capabilities to enhance certain types of damage over time (DoT) effects. In the case of a bone spear build, the focus is on generating ample resources, making shadow damage less relevant. However, well-chosen support can significantly benefit your construct’s performance without overcommitting to specific DoT enhancements.

Alternative Damage Enhancement Strategies
Beyond DoT support, an alternative approach involving the governing stone, Flash of Adrenaline, offers a 20% damage increase, potentially boosted to 35% with Genesis support. This enhancement is crucial for maintaining high construct damage output. Flash of Adrenaline’s duration and tactical supports ensure constant uptime, maximizing the construct’s damage potential. Another popular option is Firefly, which, when combined with multi-shot and seeking support, enables the construct to deal significant AoE and single-target damage, particularly when piercing support is added.
Optimal Construct Setups for Single and Multiple Targets
Combining Adrenaline with Genesis and Fireflies provides the construct with unparalleled damage output for single-target DPS, making it capable of soloing bosses efficiently. For dealing with groups of enemies, Tempest combined with Genesis offers superior AoE effectiveness due to its spreading poison and DoT capabilities. The upcoming Gauntlet mode will further test the construct’s viability, potentially highlighting its utility for both buffing and damage output.
Class-Specific Synergies for Construct Enhancement
As a necromancer, specific passive abilities and glyphs can significantly enhance the construct’s effectiveness. For example, the Book of the Dead offers various boosts to critical strike chance, vulnerable damage, and critical strike damage, all of which benefit the construct. Glyphs like Sacrificial provide a consistent damage boost when no minions are active, and other enhancements related to attack speed, critical strikes, and DoT effects can synergistically improve the player’s and the construct’s performance.
Creating a build that naturally enhances your and your construct’s capabilities without sacrificing the core strengths of your class is critical to maximizing effectiveness. While direct control over the construct’s target selection remains challenging, optimizing its damage output through strategic skill and item choices can make it a formidable ally in combat.
