Hey there, adventurers! Welcome to Librarian Husky’s guide, your go-to source for all things WoW. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a curious newcomer, we’ve got you covered with the latest tips, tricks, and strategies to enhance your gaming experience.

Guide for Add-Ons

I’m not going to feature all of the biggest Add-Ons like ElvUI and WeakAuras, but it should be a cool list of Add-Ons, including some that you might not have heard of. Stay tuned for that. Not everything’s happening at once, like the Pre-Patch event that’s going to come next week, but let’s walk you through what to expect when you first log in.

Updated Character Select Screen

First off is going to be the updated Character Select Screen. To the right is the typical list, but front and center are your favorites, and this is important for a few reasons. The most obvious is them showing up on your screen, standing there looking all pretty for you. Your fabulous four favorites are always going to show up on the side here even when you’re switching Realms.

Switching Realms

That means if you happen to be on a different realm from the characters on your favorites, if you happen to log onto one of your favorites, the game will automatically switch servers for you and then log you in. That’s cool, but you want to keep something in mind for the most part.

Managing Realm and Character Favorites

You’re on the realm where your most frequently used characters or your favorite characters are. Doing this will ensure that your logins are as fast as they always are. Otherwise, if you happen to be switched on a different realm, then you’re going to keep running into these extra few seconds of switching Realms, and that just gets obnoxious.

Character Information and Favorites List

The rest of the functionality is pretty self-explanatory. Just mouse over your character to see extra information, including the realm that they’re on. To move folks in and out of your favorites, all you need to do is drag them up and down. The mouse wheel works when dragging in case there’s a character that’s way down there and you need to bring it up to the top.

Customizing Your Favorites List

Of course, your Favorites List doesn’t have to be filled with four characters. Heck, you don’t even need it at all. You can just drag all your characters off of the favorites and collapse that window to basically go back to the regular character screen. By the way, it’s probably a good idea to turn your Add-Ons off before you first log in.

Initial Login Expectations

What you should immediately expect when you first log in is a quest that leads you to learning a new spell that summons your personal bank, and you can go ahead and knock that out whenever you want. At least, I’m pretty sure the War Bank itself should be accessible right away by going to any bank, going into the War Bank tab, and then purchasing tabs.

War Bank Quest Line

I’m only 99% sure that you shouldn’t need to complete this quest line to unlock the War Bank, and it’s no big deal either way. I just don’t want you to think.

Checking Your Bank First

You can’t simply check your bank first before racing to do some quest that’s probably going to be really crowded early on. I gave a big talk about the War Bank already, and hopefully, there aren’t any major changes. If nothing else, the War Bank gives you lots of room to work with to let you move lots of items around before setting them into new locations or into your War Bank.

Using the War Bank

Pets would be one thing to recommend as a currency to put into the War Bank that still isn’t in the currency tab. But I have a feeling in the future we might get a new currency that is. You can Transmog your pants off, by the way. I know you’ve been dying to do that for a while now. Transmog should also unlock regardless of if your character can actually use the item or not going forward.

Transmog Unlock Exceptions

The only known exception right now is gear that is already flagged as class-specific. So class gear that you’ll get from places like Molten Core or Tomb of Sargeras. If you have characters that have a cool appearance that they couldn’t unlock due to restrictions before this patch, you’ll likely need to log onto that character to unlock it.

Transferring Currencies

You can transfer Currencies from other characters as long as you’ve earned one of a currency on a given character. You can select it from the Currencies tab and then hit the transfer button. A menu like.

Transferring Currencies

This is going to pop up, and opening this pull-down will let you view all of your characters and how much of that currency they have. Then you can take the desired amount into your current character’s bag. One easy currency to practice with is Timewalking Badges. Take a few minutes to slurp up all that precious badge stuff so you can blow it all on whatever you’re missing.

Grateful Offerings

Grateful Offerings are another good candidate. Now, while you may still need to go through the mailing process for transferring Ana, you should be able to transfer Grateful Offerings to a character in order to buy a bunch of appearances. Not every currency can be transferred, and not all of them are transferred at a 1:1 ratio.

Currency Transfer Restrictions

It just mostly depends on if that currency historically had a tax on it, but you’ll be notified if that happens. Sky Riding is now available on nearly every mount capable of flying. The mechanics are the same, but the feel is going to be different. It’s sort of like how the Proto-Drake felt different from the Wilder Drake.

Sky Riding Mechanics

A surfboard is going to feel different from a Mecca or mounts using the running animation. Sky Riding toggles are located in the mount collection window. Here you can toggle between Sky Riding and steady flight and edit your Sky Riding abilities. You’ll notice when you get into this menu.

Multi-Seat Riding and Abilities

You can turn on Multi-Seat Riding with a toggle and switch between Whirling Surge and Lightning Rush. Now, about Lightning Rush, I’m not sure if you need the mount that gives this ability, meaning that you would need a heroic or an epic version of the War Within. You’ll also notice some old Dragon riding abilities are gone too, so there’s no more damage or damage bubbles when landing.

Professions in the Pre-Patch

Professions are going to be a bit funny during the Pre-Patch. As you might know, a resource called Concentration is going to replace inspiration. But in the beta, at least, this has been applied to Dragonflight Professions too. It’s a little bit buggy, but the gist is people can start using Concentration to upgrade their crafts to a higher level without inspiration because, you know, it’s gone.

Using Concentration

They’re just subjected to these Concentration costs. Illustrious Insight also works towards the maximum of craft, but there’s a bug I want to share with you in case this goes live. You can spend Concentration even if you can already make an item at max quality, but it actually doesn’t do anything, so don’t waste it.

Maxing Out Crafts

Another consequence is that without inspiration, there’s no more brute forcing by trying to craft over and over again. If you want it maxed out and you’re short, you’re going to need to spend Concentration. There are a few new interface options being added as well. You might have heard of the Arachnophobia Mode.

New Features and Commands

That’ll turn all spider-like creatures in the game into a crab variant. There’s also another very cool feature that might be in the patch, but you need to use console commands to activate it. Copy and paste this command to allow the camera to ignore objects that normally force the camera to zoom in. Now, notice these obstructions that used to mess with the camera; they no longer interfere.

Adjusting Camera Sensitivity

You can also adjust the sensitivity using this other command and adjust it to your liking. One for being the least sensitive all the way up to 10 if you want the camera to phase through larger obstructions. I suggest starting at one and then moving it up as you need to, because the last thing you want is to not see your character getting pounded by AOE because of some branches that are in front of you.

Impact on Abilities

This adjustment does not affect abilities that use targeting reticles, so that Death and Decay or that Blizzard that you’re trying to put down is going to be obstructed. There’s another option in the menu to show a silhouette of your character if something is blocking the camera. It’s kind of odd that this is going to be in the patch because it’s hard to see the benefit of this until the console command is used.

Identifying Icons

There are also a lot of identifying icons reflected in-game and on the map that have been added or changed. The best bet is to open up the legend from the map screen and take a look at what happened.

Managing Your Week in WoW

Then maybe take a screenshot of it and display it on your other monitor, or if you can’t do that, just print that sucker out and slap it somewhere where you can see it. There’s still things to do this week, by

the way. All the raids should be awakened while the Last Harrah quest can be chosen at will. It was missed last week, but there will be two bulling available this week.

Events and Bonuses

While you’re test-driving your updated classes, the Battleground bonus event is in play, and Packed House is the brawl. Over in Mythic Plus World, the affixes are fortified and afflicted with raging at keys 10 and higher. It’s not even the last afflicted we’re going to see; we’re going to have another one in a few weeks according to the schedule.

Dealing with Afflicted and Raging

Like Caporal, afflicted always sucks when it goes off, but it’s easy to handle. Any class with a cleanse can make quick work of these mobs. Then just do the dungeon as normal. Most reasonable folk will bring a soothe along with them for raging. Just be sure to stay on the most dangerous mobs in a pack with that ability ready.

Upcoming Add-Ons and Guides

That about covers everything coming immediately in the patch. I should have some Add-Ons to feature shortly, hopefully a profession guide or two later this week, and then next week we’ll go over the Pre-Patch event. For now, let’s wrap things up.
