Allright guys, Librarian Husky here, today we’re giving you new solo PVP tier list for average player!
Scientific Discoveries and Game Strategies
All right, as always, to make our tier list, we looked at rating data from Drusvar. And here’s what we found for melee DPS. Right now, being 1,800 puts you roughly in the top 25, which is a 5% improvement from a month ago. The number of specs performing worse than this benchmark has actually increased, and there are now some new top performers, including Rhett Paladin, who’s had a mix of buffs and nerfs over the past few weeks.
In case you missed it, Rhetts got a beefy damage buff at the start of the season, which quickly propelled them to the S tier and even gave them a showing in the fourth cup of the AWC. But you don’t have to be a sweaty gladiator to play this spec because it turns out Rhett has one of the highest win rates across all ratings. And this makes sense because the most popular melee in the game at low ratings is Warrior, who Rhett Paladin is no problem dealing with thanks to its anti-mele.
Analysis of Melee Specs
Even though Fury Warrior might not have ultra high impact burst anymore, it remains a formidable spec defensively and can secure victories in extended battles. Recently, arms warriors have risen in prominence, surpassing Fury at the 1,800 benchmark. The buff to execute has notably boosted their sustained damage output. Surprisingly, Windwalker Monk continues to defy expectations with a favorable matchup spread, except against specific classes like r paladins and frost mages. Rhett and Windwalker have maintained success at lower ratings due to their durability, leading to low death rates up to 1,800.
Additionally, Demon Hunter has proven to be one of the best melee specs in this range despite common complaints about vulnerability to stuns. Notably, Subrogue stands out as a formidable rogue spec, excelling in sustained damage and burst potential. Conversely, Frost DK struggles up to 1800, with removal of their AoE stun impacting their performance negatively. Unholy DK and Enhancement Shaman face challenges as well, with survivability concerns and limited mobility affecting their overall effectiveness.

Despite these disparities, brawler melee specs continue to dominate the tier list for average players, with Survival Hunter showing strong performance up to 1800, albeit potentially underrated due to its lack of popularity.
Analysis of Top Range DPS Specs
With that said, it’s definitely a strong spec, but requires significantly more effort compared to most of the high tiers. But now, let’s take a look at the best range DPS right now. Right now, being 1,800 in solo shuffle puts you roughly in the top 30% for your role. Ranged are a bit more evenly split, but have some obvious underperformers, including affliction warlock and fire mage, with many of the overperforming specs being the tankier casters, even including demo warlock and shadow priest.
Despite the fact that it might not be performing the best, we still think BM is easily an S tier spec for the average player. It’s just silently OP. You’re never going to die 100 to zero in 0.1 seconds to the spec. And in fact, it actually has some of the worst burst in the entire game. But obviously what makes BM so strong is attrition. The ability to pump out insane sustained damage with routine CC on the healer makes beast mastery fit in with almost every lobby. And while Markx might have some very specific issues into brawler melee, you can’t deny the lethality of its burst damage. It’s just a massive execution test for anyone trying to climb past rival.

Another spec we think gets silently carried by consistency is elemental shaman. Obviously, there were some concerns in the early season after the redesign to primordial wave, but after getting massively buffed, this spec is doing really good across all rating. It also helps that Ellie has one of the lowest death rates in the bracket. Even when trained, they can still put out big damage. And right below them is devastation of ochre. Are you noticing any trends? This is yet another passively tanky spec with a seemingly infinite amount of sustained damage with super high value in the current meta thanks to its AoE dispel, which makes life an absolute nightmare for some of the meta healers.
Speaking of being a nightmare, we still think Frost and Arcane Mage are really good for the average player. Arcane’s tier set has solved a lot of problems for the spec, giving it ondemand burst damage whenever touch of the magi is pressed. If your entire team has ever gotten one shot multiple times a minute against an Arcane Mage, this is why. And obviously, the main advantage of mage in the current meta is that it’s one of the only casters that can survive against warriors, which are the most popular DPS class by far. Because of this, there is a massive fall-off in the range meta with a lot of specs underperforming.
It’s really hard to say with confidence which Warlock spec is best because they can all struggle a lot into these brawler melee, but Demo seems to be doing the best, at least according to data. While its win rate isn’t the best, Demo still dies less than Affliction and Destro. We’ve said this before, but one thing that continues to carry Demo is the fact that it does really well into caster heavy lobbies. And even when it doesn’t have a bunch of wizards to bully, it’s still quite solid into some melee, too. Right now, things just aren’t looking good for Affliction and Destro, especially up to rival ratings. Unless Blizzard massively buffs demon skin or nerfs warriors and monks to the ground, it’s probably unlikely that these specs will be dominant for the remainder of the season.
Overview of Class Struggles in the Arena
We know this is a solo shuffle guide, but it’s crazy the highest affliction warlock isn’t even 2300 on the North American 3v3 ladder. Shadow priests seem to be doing a bit better, but are probably married to the mid tiers while we’re in this warrior Ellie meta. Another problem for many of these casters too is the fact that the two most dominant healers both have immunities to dispel protection. Holy priests in angel form and resto druids in Ancient of Lore can dispel UA and VT with zero repercussions, which makes life tough for some of those doc classes who already struggle to cast.
And even though boomies don’t need to cast 90% of their damage, it’s still a target dummy for a lot of the mobile melee, which is why the spec continues to have a super high death rate. On top of this, the healing meta isn’t great at all for balanced druid. They typically want resto shamans and preservers to be the best healers, which obviously isn’t the case. But if there’s one spec we think struggles the hardest at low ratings, it’s fire mage, who has some of the worst damage in the game right now.
The fundamental problem with fire is that it needs to play hyperaggressive in order to win, but can’t really do so right now with how much damage some specs are doing. And even when you can play aggressive, your impact damage isn’t too great, even when combustion is up. It’s kind of like a catch 22. You either kite away and do nothing or push in and die. That brings us to our ranged meta for the average player with the more durable wizards being close to the top.

Just like survival hunter, augmentation of ochre is performing ridiculously well in the climb to 1800, but we still think it’s a bit of a wild card. The problem with gimmicky oneshots is that putting all of your eggs in one basket doesn’t really work too well in solo shuffle since you can only press your cooldowns once or twice a game. Unfortunately, the healer meta is still pretty homogeneous. But first, if you’re 1,800, you are roughly in the top 30% of all healers.
We will admit that this data is a bit weird given the fact that the population of priests just dwarfs everyone else. This is probably why Holy and Disc are technically the only overperformers in the meta with everyone else performing worse overall. Yes, even restoration druids. With that said, we think resto in a much better position this season for the average player. In the past, the skill floor of this spec was a huge deterrent for a lot of players, but after multiple buffs and one of the most forgiving tier sets of all time, Druid is a much better option at lower ratings. And like clockwork, we think Holy Paladin is an excellent choice for the average player.
Just like Holy Priest, it’s one of those healers that seems to do well across the entire ladder. It is arguably the third best healer at high MMR and possibly even the second best healer at lower ratings. Simply having an abundance of cooldowns can make it easier to control the game, even when you have some questionable DPS on your team. And this is why we still think Preservation Evoker, Mistw Weaver Monk, and Resto Shaman are still the bottom three healers for the average player.
While healers like Shaman and Evoker can do a lot to influence the game offensively, they’re just way too easy to grief to be consistently good for the average player. While there have been some recent quality of life buffs to restoration shaman, they haven’t really addressed the core issue of healing output. It doesn’t matter if there are 500 utility buttons on your bars if you need to spend half the game hard casting healing surge.
Top Mid-Tier Healer Choice
But between these three mid-tier healers, we currently have our eyes on mistweaver monk. It’s definitely seen some big improvements at higher ratings, but it’s always one of those specs that requires a lot of effort and is incredibly punished by mistakes.
Anyway, we think the healer meta for the average player is actually remarkably similar to high ratings. Priests, druids, and paladins all seem to be on top with everyone else trailing behind.
