Hey guys, this is Librarian Husky. The season 2 Turbo Boost event has finally started. You can now get your hands on puzzling cartel chips to buy raid or dungeon gear directly from a vendor.
Understanding the Turbo Boost Event
But the chips are quite restricted, so we’ll need to be careful with which items we buy first. Crafted gear is now more powerful than ever before, thanks to a special item that boosts its item level even further. Almost all endgame gear can be upgraded further than before as well. There are a lot of changes to how seasonal currencies work and how you can earn them. And dumps have been updated to be more rewarding too.
Let’s go over what you should do first in the new Turbo Boost event and how you can make sure you don’t waste your puzzling cartel chips.
The first thing you’re going to want to do is check out the Puzzling Cartel Chip vendor and pick up the new weekly quest that allows you to earn this new currency. You can find the vendor just outside of the bank in Donagal. So, pop by and see which items you might want to buy with your precious chips.
We can only get nine chips total over the next 6 weeks. And each item will cost you three chips. So, you can only buy three items for each character that you want to play.
You’ll find pretty much every weapon, trinket, or special item from the Liberation of Undermine raid, as well as a collection of trinkets from the current Mythic Plus dungeon season. There are some very powerful items available here and you’re basically guaranteed to be able to pick up at least a few of your best in slot items. The trinkets especially.
There are two levels of gear available and they have different requirements. All of the heroic gear has a minimum item level of 649, can be upgraded all the way to item level 671, and you can buy any of these items as long as you have the three required cartel chips. You don’t have to kill any specific bosses in the raid or clear any specific dungeons. So, everyone can get the heroic track gear baseline.
Now, all of the myth gear has a minimum item level of 662 and can be upgraded up to item level 684. So, if you can pick up any of these items, it will be a huge overall item level boost. However, to purchase any of the raid items on the myth track, you’re going to need to kill the boss that drops that item on mythic difficulty. So, unless you are already mythic raiding, you probably won’t be able to get any items from the raid at the higher upgrade levels. The same goes for the dungeon trinkets. If you want to buy the myth upgrade track dungeon trinkets, you’ll need to complete every seasonal dungeon on a plus 12 key or above. That’s probably a good chunk easier to achieve when compared to mythic raid boss kills, especially some of the later raid bosses.
Upgrading Gear and Earning Cartel Chips
But There don’t seem to be any plans to let you upgrade a heroic piece to the myth upgrade track if you complete the requirements later on down the line. So before you buy anything, you’re going to want to decide if you’re going to try and get either of those requirements done to let you buy the higher item level pieces of gear. If you know you’re not going to kill any raid bosses on mythic, well, you may as well just go ahead and buy the heroic piece. If you’re not really going to try get those plus 12 key dungeons done, maybe just settle for the heroic version of the dungeon trinket.

So, that’s the gear we can get, but how do we start earning these puzzling cartel chips so we can actually buy something? You’ll need to pick up and complete the new weekly quest that can be found right next to the vendor on the wall behind the vendor. You should be able to pick up the quest by interacting with this poster. The quest is fairly simple. All you have to do is kill four raid bosses on normal difficulty or above or clear four mythic dungeons. The first time you complete this quest, it will reward you with three puzzling cartel chips. So, you can buy your first piece of gear more or less right away. And then we’ll get one more chip per week for the next 6 weeks.
Optimizing Gear Acquisition Strategy
So, one piece of gear this week and then another piece of gear every 3 weeks after that until we have three pieces of gear total. Now, the quest does specifically say that you need to kill raid bosses on normal or above, but that doesn’t actually seem to be the case. You still get credit for LFR boss kills as of right now. We’re not too sure if that’s intended or if it’s a bug, but whenever dinars have been available in the past, you could get them from LFR. So, hopefully it’s intended. If you’re looking to be efficient, I would just do the first two wings of LFR.
They each have two bosses, so you can get your four bosses total nice and evenly. And they’re also much easier when compared to the last two wings of LFR. And there’s less trash mobs to clear through overall, so they’re generally quite a bit faster. I would try and get this done ASAP just in case the dev team actually does change things to normal or above for the raid boss kills. Now, in the event that LFR no longer counts for this weekly quest, either later on in the week or in future weeks, running four Mythic zero or plus two keys will probably be faster and easier than trying to kill normal raid bosses if you’ve never done it before. So, I would encourage you to do the four mythic dungeons instead. As long as you complete this quest every week, you’ll get all the cartel chips you need to buy those three pieces of special vendor gear.
Okay, fantastic. We have some cartel chips. But which item should you buy first? This will heavily depend on your character and your best in slot lists, but there are quite a few trap items on the vendor that you should know about. A lot of the best in slot lists have the eye of Kazan trinket very high in priority, but it might not actually be the best option for you unless you are already mythic raiding. The trinket is more powerful the longer a fight goes on. And if you have any gaps in combat like you would do in Mythic Plus dungeons, your stacks can fall off very quickly, which means other trinkets would end up doing better overall. So don’t rush to pick up that trinket just because it’s supposed to be super OP.

Now, many of the weapons are also high on the list, but unless you can get the Myth Track version of the weapon, you might actually just be better off with a crafted weapon, especially with the update to let crafted gear go up to item level 681. The actual best way to figure out if an item is an upgrade would be to sim it. You can grab the simulation craft add-on, get your character sim by typing /simc, plug that into raid bots, and there’s actually a new option in the drop optimizer for the dinar vendor items. Run a quick sim that matches the content you do most often. So, do a dungeon slice or AoE sim for your dungeons and see what the results say. Even though I would love to pick up the best in slots weapon on my Paladin, chances are it just won’t actually be a better option unless I can get the myth version. So, I’m going to focus on other items for the time being.
Upgrading Crafted Gear
Just bear in mind these are going to be general suggestions and won’t take your actual character or the content you play into account. So that’s pretty much all you should need to know about the dinar vendor and how that all works. So the next thing I would start working on would be upgrading your crafted gear.
The turbo boost event introduced a new item called the augmentation matrix. You can pick these up from the Enchanted Crest vendors in Dornagal. There are two versions. The runed one costs runed crests and can be used to upgrade the item level of your crafted gear by three, while the gilded one will cost gilded crests and upgrade your crafted gear by six item levels.
This allows you to take Enchanted Gilded Crest rank five gear from item levels 675 to 681. So for every spark that you have, you can turn that into item level 681 gear, which is kind of insane. For any gear that you already have crafted, the process is super simple. Using your own professions or when you visit a crafting order clerk, make sure you use the recraft option at the top.
Plug your item in that you want to upgrade and you’re going to see a new optional crafting reagent slot down at the bottom. This is where you put your augmentation matrix in. You will need the crafting result to be rank five to get the maximum item level of 681 with your augmentation matrix attached. So, you want to make a personal work order if you don’t have the professions leveled up yourself.
Now, if you still have some gear to craft with your sparks, make sure you have the augmentation matrix before you start crafting that gear. So then you can do it all at once and you’ll save yourself some materials. With these changes in play, anyone who has access to gilded crests can get item level 681 gear.
And I would encourage you to upgrade your crafted gear before anything else because this upgrade will only cost you some crests and will not cost you any valor stones. So you can save those up for your other good upgrades later on or maybe even send them over to your alts.

Now, I do think it’s important to note that Patch 11.7 is going to introduce a new belt that starts at item level 684 and can be upgraded multiple times. So, this will probably be our new Cersei circular item moving forward, which means it may end up being powerful enough to remain your best in slot piece of gear into season 3.
We’re not entirely sure what the plan is with this belt just yet, or how powerful the dev team want it to be, but chances are this will be a really good belt for absolutely everyone. So, I wouldn’t upgrade your belt or spend any sparks or crafting materials or valor stones on a belt slot as a priority. You still can absolutely, but my recommendation is to leave it until it’s your absolute last item to upgrade because it might just get replaced in Patch 11.7.
At this point, you want to start looking at your other gear. Every piece of hero and myth track gear had its upgrade track extended by two bumps, so you can get about six more item levels on all of that gear. Hero gear now goes up to item level 671, and myth gear is going to go up to item level 684.
So, even if you can’t reliably get your hands on Myth Track gear because you don’t take part in group content, you can still get some good upgrades in this event by upgrading your hero gear a bit further. To help you upgrade your gear, there were a few changes to crests and valor stones.
Changes to Crests and Valor Stones
All crests are now uncapped, so you can collect as many of them as you want without running into seasonal caps that stop your progress. You could endlessly run plus 7 dungeons if you wanted to and upgrade all of your crafted gear to 681 and heroic or myth gear to their new maximum. Remember, you can trade your crests up at the upgrade vendors in Dornagal. You need to hit specific item level breakpoints before upgrading your crests.
When you can no longer use carved crests, you can upgrade them into run crests. If you outgrow runed crests, upgrade them into gilded crests. Even if you don’t receive gilded crests directly, farming gear and rune crests can help upgrade spare rune crests. Visit the vendor to see your unlocked crest upgrades.

Now, valor stones are warband transferable, allowing you to trade them across all your characters. Use your main character to farm valor stones quickly and send them to alts for gearing up. You can also send valor stones from alts to your main character. Transferring valor stones incurs a 20% penalty. The turbo boost event enhances delve rewards, granting more Dela’s journey progress from chest rewards. Bran levels up faster, enabling you to earn more crests and vales from all delve tiers and runs. Normal crest drops have increased, but the seven gilded crests per tier 11 bountiful delve remain unchanged. Delver’s bounty map gilded crests have doubled on tier 11 delves, now containing 20 gilded crests. Additionally, time walking this week offers a piece of champion gear, beneficial for players still gearing up.
Final Week of Winds of Mysterious Fortune Buff
And you can level really quickly in time walking as well, just in case all of these gearing changes and boosts make you want to play another character or two. Speaking of leveling, this will be the last week that the winds of mysterious fortune buff is active.
So, if you want to take advantage of that to level up some alts a bit faster or get some reputation farming done with the dragon flight or war within renowned factions, this week is going to be your last week to do so.
