Hello guys, how’s it going? My name is Librarian Husky. The 20th anniversary update should be launching around the month of November. With this update, we will get access to a ton of new activities, including open world content, new world bosses, and new ways to experience older raids and dungeons. There will be plenty of amazing 20th anniversary sets to collect for multiple classes, along with a ton of class changes to experience.
Class Changes and Thematic Revamps
This update will feature thematic revamps of some fan-favorite hero talents, along with adjustments to many classes. These changes are sure to shake up the Season 1 meta. Whether you’re looking to play more alts, switch your main, or just want to collect all the 20th anniversary cosmetics for each class, now is a great time to prepare.
Preparing for the Update
If you want to be ready for the 20th anniversary update, it might be a good idea to level up some characters. Getting your characters from level 1 to 70 can take a bit of time unless you know the fastest methods. For levels 70 through 80, it’s pretty straightforward: follow the main story, do side activities, or spam dungeons and delves. However, levels 1 to 70 require a bit more effort.
Fastest Methods for Early Leveling
If you’re looking to get through the early leveling grind before diving into War Within content, this guide will help you with the fastest methods. Whether you’re starting fresh or already familiar with the expansion, getting through levels 1 to 10 efficiently is key. Let’s dive into these strategies to save time and prepare your character.
Reaching Level 10
Before we explore leveling strategies, the first step is to get your character to level 10. If you are starting with a basic character, such as a non-allied race, you’ll need to level them from 1 to 10. The fastest way to do this is by completing Exile’s Reach, which has been proven through multiple tests to be the most efficient method for 1% leveling. It’s a quick and straightforward way to get your character from 1 to 10.
Using Allied Races
Alternatively, you can skip the early leveling process altogether by starting with an Allied Race character, which begins at level 10. This option allows you to jump directly into more advanced leveling paths without spending time on the first 10 levels. Once your character reaches level 10, you can begin progressing through one of several leveling methods available.

Immortal Leveling Strategy
For now, we can call this method “Immortal Leveling.” By using Chromie Time, players can select the Dragonflight expansion and level through the Dragon Isles. Originally designed as high-end zones for that expansion, these areas now offer a unique experience for leveling. The Dragon Isles provide a familiar yet fresh setting for returning players, especially those who may have last played in earlier expansions like Vanilla, TBC, or Wrath of the Lich King.
Challenges for Returning Players
For newer or returning players, adapting to the changes in the game can feel overwhelming. From sky riding to class changes and a variety of new enemies, Dragonflight introduces a lot of new mechanics that could pose challenges. To help ease this experience, the developers decided to buff both new and returning players, making it easier to adjust to the new content.
Prismatic Blessing Buff
One of the most significant aids in this leveling process is the Prismatic Blessing. Granted by the Dragonflights, this buff provides adventurers with a range of benefits, making their characters more powerful. While many of these buffs enhance different aspects of gameplay, one stands out—the Red Dragonflight’s buff. This specific blessing grants players a cheat death mechanic, allowing them to survive fatal encounters.
Immortal Leveling Mechanics
The Immortal Leveling strategy can feel a little broken, as it doesn’t have a cooldown. As long as you’re attacked by an enemy within your level range, it will save you from death. Elites above your level or other players don’t count, and there’s no debuff to prevent its use repeatedly. This mechanic allows players to engage in much riskier battles and level much faster than usual.
Exploiting Immortal Leveling
For veteran players, Immortal Leveling offers an opportunity to tackle more dangerous enemy groups and pull large packs without fear of dying. The cheat death mechanic enables faster progress by granting significant experience from massive enemy pulls. This can result in gaining a level every few minutes by efficiently AoE-ing down large numbers of enemies.
Recommended Leveling Route: Azure Span Zone
One of the best spots for Immortal Leveling is in the Azure Span Zone, particularly around Big Tree Hills and the nearby lake. Here, you’ll find numerous enemy packs, both in the trees and near caves. By pulling large groups of enemies and quickly nuking them with AoE abilities, you can level up efficiently until reaching level 20. There’s always an abundance of enemies in this area, making it ideal for this strategy.
Circular Formation for Efficient Leveling
To maximize efficiency, you’ll want to level by following a circular formation. Focus on pulling and defeating groups of enemies in a specific area. Once you establish a path, by the time you finish off the last group, the first group will begin respawning. Continue this cycle, circling around the Big Tree Hills area and slaying packs of enemies to reach level 20.
Activating War Mode at Level 20
Once you reach level 20, head to the capital city to enable War Mode. War Mode provides a 10% experience bonus and unlocks PvP talents, which can speed up your leveling. While the risk of encountering players from the opposing faction is low at lower levels, it is not zero, and you might get one-shot by other players. However, the experience bonus generally makes War Mode worth using.
When to Disable War Mode
The only time you might want to disable War Mode is if you find that the opposing faction has a large presence in your leveling area. In such cases, turning off War Mode can help avoid unnecessary PvP interruptions. However, the bonus experience it offers is typically worth keeping it enabled unless the risk is too high.
Leveling from 20 to 30: Noon Hold
From level 20, you have several options for leveling areas, but one of the best is in Noon Hold. This area is packed with enemies, especially in the center where Centaurs are densely gathered. If you pull them all into a big group, you can AoE them down quickly. Several spots in the center and surrounding areas provide opportunities for efficient leveling, including the shamanistic Centaurs and blacksmith areas.
Challenges in Noon Hold
The biggest challenges in Noon Hold arise when you have War Mode activated. This area is a hotspot for enemy players, making it easy to get sniped. Additionally, many of the Centaurs are ranged attackers, so you’ll need to engage them in melee combat to pull them into large groups for AoE. Despite these challenges, Noon Hold remains an efficient place for grinding until level 30.
Leveling in Azure Span and Brackenhide
Once you reach level 30, another excellent option is to return to the Azure Span and focus on Brackenhide. This zone offers a range of enemy groups and activities that make for a smooth leveling experience. The different areas around Brackenhide provide plenty of opportunities to grind, with enemies that respawn quickly and are grouped for efficient farming.
Efficient Enemy Grouping in Brackenhide
In Brackenhide, many of the enemies, even those with ranged attacks, will walk into melee range, making it much easier to group them together for AoE. This allows for more effective pulls, especially with plenty of packs crowded in specific areas. The enemies also respawn quickly, so you can continuously rotate between them for fast leveling.
Exploration Leveling for Earthen
When playing as an Earthen, you gain 200% additional experience for exploring locations. This means you can level up just by flying around Azeroth and discovering new areas. This method is exclusive to the Earthen, making them an excellent choice for quick and easy leveling through exploration. Their racial bonuses, including this one, make them a solid option for players looking for efficient leveling strategies.
Advantages of Sky Riding for Exploration
One of the reasons exploration leveling is so fast is due to Sky Riding, which allows players to fly at maximum speeds. In previous expansions, flying was quick but slower compared to Sky Riding, where you can zoom from zone to zone, exploring different locations. This enables you to gain significant amounts of experience without engaging in combat or completing quests, simply by discovering new areas.
Fast Leveling without Combat
This method allows players to level from 10 to 70 without encountering other players or requiring any combat expertise. As long as you can navigate your mount and explore different parts of each zone, you can quickly gain levels. Many players have found this to be an incredibly efficient way of leveling, especially when aiming to avoid PvP or time-consuming questing.

Fast Leveling Through Exploration
This method can take less than 3 hours for some players, while others may take up to 4 hours. It’s a relatively fast and efficient leveling strategy. As you fly around, watch the top-right corner of your screen for locational changes. If the zone name, like Stranglethorn Vale or Elwynn Forest, changes to a specific location name, it indicates you’re near an area that can be explored.
How to Discover New Locations
When you enter a new location with a name attached to it, wait for the golden text to appear at the top of your screen, showing that you’ve discovered the area. Once that happens, you’ll earn additional experience. Continue flying around until you find new locations. Monuments, caves, or any landmarks that stand out visually are often the spots where you can gain exploration experience.
Pathing for Efficient Exploration
For the best results, it’s helpful to plan a path through the zones. Fly around each zone, keeping an eye on the name changes as you approach significant landmarks. By efficiently navigating through the zones, you can quickly gain experience from multiple locations. This exploration method is particularly effective for players looking to avoid combat and level up quickly through discovery alone.
Efficient Exploration Path for Leveling
A recommended approach to exploration leveling is to start at the bottom of each map, such as beginning at the bottom of the two kingdoms, and then working your way up. Once you’ve explored the entirety of these zones, head over to Kalimdor and explore it fully. After that, you can jump to other expansions like Burning Crusade and explore zones such as Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, Nagrand, and Talador Forest.
Using Timewalking for Faster Leveling
While exploration is a quick method to reach level 70, the fastest and most efficient way to level up characters is through Timewalking. Timewalking dungeons offer the highest amount of experience gain out of all group activities. They’re faster than normal dungeons, questing, or open-world content, making them ideal for efficient leveling.
Maximizing Experience with Bonus Events
To make Timewalking even more efficient, look for overlaps with other holidays or bonus events on the in-game calendar. Many weekly events offer additional experience bonuses that can be combined with Timewalking dungeons to speed up leveling significantly. By utilizing these overlapping bonuses, you can maximize your experience gains and make leveling faster than ever before.
Maximizing Experience Gains with Event Overlaps
If you’re aiming to get the most experience in the least amount of time, it’s best to level your characters during a Timewalking week that overlaps with another event. For example, the upcoming Timewalking Dungeon event will coincide with the Darkmoon Faire, which provides a 10% bonus experience. During the 9th to the 12th, you can gain significant experience for all your alts by taking advantage of both events.
