Hey, players! This is Librarian Husky, and I’m here to guide you through the latest tier list update! We’ve carefully analyzed all the recent patches and balance changes, and now we’re ready to share the most up-to-date info. If you’ve been wondering who’s worth maining despite all the updates, you’re in the right place. Buckle up, let’s dive into who’s dominating the meta right now!
S Tier Tanks
There are no tanks in the S tier because I don’t believe any tank is significantly better than others. When people ask me what the best tank is, I tell them that most tanks are pretty equal. There’s no clear S tier tank at the moment.
Healers: Resto Shaman at the Top
Resto Shaman has proven to be a cut above the rest, as many expected. If you look at the top runs on Raider.io, 40% of them are completed with a Shaman. The next pages don’t differ much in terms of top healer choices, showing Shaman as the best healer currently.
DPS: Augmentation and Mage
As expected, Augmentation and Mage top the DPS charts. With the Arcane nerfs and Frost buffs, both specs are viable, and you can likely play either one with success.
Moonkin: Undervalued but Viable
Moonkin has been somewhat undervalued by the community, but it remains a viable option. Many players underestimated its potential, but it’s proving its worth in various situations.
Moonkin and Recent Buffs
Recently, Moonkin received a significant buff. If you look at Exhibit B, this is a log from yesterday showing Bernardo and Flor Key running the same key, and the DPS gap is enormous. Many players were downplaying Moonkin’s capabilities, but it turns out to be one of the best ranged DPS options in the game, although not officially confirmed.
Frost Death Knight and Shaman
Frost Death Knight remains unnerfed and continues to perform well. Enhancement and Elemental Shamans are also strong, though not necessarily part of the “meta comp,” especially with Resto Shaman being so prevalent. Despite Enhancement being nerfed recently, both specs are still very good with utility like Decurse, short interrupts, and AoE stops.
Assassination Rogue’s High Damage
Assassination Rogue deals massive damage, but doesn’t bring much else to the table. While it may not fit into the meta comp, the sheer damage output justifies an S-tier ranking.
A Tier: Tanks
Most tanks are placed in A tier, except for Paladin and Brewmaster. Whenever someone asks for the best tank, I suggest playing anything but Paladin or Brewmaster. Looking at the leaderboard for top runs, every tank is represented in the top 50.

Week One Mythic Plus: Tank Balance
In the top 40 Mythic Plus runs during week one, every tank is represented except for Brewmaster, and only a few Paladins are present. Among the top four tanks, they appear relatively balanced. Blood Death Knight and Guardian Druid have a slight edge due to their raid buffs, although if you’re running Balance Druid, Guardian loses some value.
Blood Death Knight and Warrior
Blood Death Knight has the best self-sustain, making it ideal if you don’t fully trust your healer. Warrior, on the other hand, has the most stable damage intake, making it easier for healers to manage. These two tanks fall at different points on the survivability scale, but both are perfectly viable at the highest level of play.
Healers: Viability at the Top Level
Originally, only Holy Priest and Discipline Priest were considered top-tier healers. However, after reviewing the leaderboard, Mistweaver Monk has proven to be viable at the highest level. In fact, most healers are competitive at the top, with Mistweaver completing some of the highest keys.
Healer Buffs and Shaman Dominance
Recently, several healers received buffs, and their damage output is impressive, even exceeding that of Resto Shaman. However, Shaman still stands out due to its 20% max health healing, strong utility, and overall versatility. Disc Priest has the highest damage and healing of all healers, though its main weaknesses are the lack of an interrupt and weak spot healing. If you can work around these, Disc Priest is a top contender.
Melee DPS Overview
When it comes to melee DPS, specs like Retribution Paladin, Windwalker Monk, Fury Warrior, Subtlety Rogue, Havoc Demon Hunter, and Unholy Death Knight are all solid options. While they perform well, none have the overwhelming AoE power of Assassination Rogue or the sheer damage output of Frost Death Knight or Enhancement Shaman. These specs are all viable in high-end content but aren’t overly dominant in any area.
Range DPS and Marksman Hunter
Marksman Hunter performs well, particularly in AoE situations, making it a strong option in Mythic+ keys. However, it does lack a bit of single-target damage. As for Warlocks, there’s ongoing debate about which spec is currently best, with players frequently changing their opinions on Destruction’s viability.
Warlock Specs and Performance
After watching Liquid’s stream, I noticed Destruction Warlock topping the meters, but I still can’t determine which Warlock spec is best. Therefore, I’ll place all Warlock specs in A tier as they’re all solid performers.
Tank Rankings: Paladin and Brewmaster in B Tier
I’ve placed Protection Paladin and Brewmaster Monk in the lowest tank tier, which is B. Personally, I might move Brewmaster to C tier due to my bias against it, but I don’t want to seem unfair. Both of these tanks are relatively squishy compared to the others.
Paladin and Brewmaster Comparison
While Paladin offers excellent utility and damage, it’s prone to dying quickly, making it a challenge to survive higher keys. Brewmaster, on the other hand, is slightly tankier but requires significant healing. Despite these weaknesses, both tanks are still viable at the top level if played properly.
Paladin as a Personal Tank Choice
I will likely be playing Paladin in whichever key levels my group allows. While it might not be the top pick for many, it’s still a tank I enjoy. Moving on to the remaining tanks and healers, let’s discuss the current state of the game.
Healers: Buffs and Struggles
Resto Druid has received multiple buffs, but they don’t seem sufficient. Once known for its high damage output, Resto Druid is no longer the top damage healer, falling behind Discipline Priest, Holy Paladin, and even Shaman. This puts Resto Druid in the B tier, along with Holy Paladin and Holy Priest, although Holy Priest has seen some popularity in higher keys due to dedicated mains.
Outlaw Rogue: B Tier Performance
Outlaw Rogue had a promising start in the raid but was heavily nerfed by Blizzard. It’s not particularly strong in the current dungeon pool, with limited viability outside a few specific dungeons like Mists of Tirna Scithe. The abundance of uncapped AoE in other dungeons makes it hard for Outlaw Rogue to shine.
Outlaw Rogue: Struggles and Nerfs
Outlaw Rogue is struggling due to its inability to handle certain mechanics well, such as the flying mobs in Dawnbreaker where buffs need to be dropped. Combined with recent nerfs, this places Outlaw in the B tier, as it’s just not suited for the current dungeon pool.
Survival Hunter: A Decent but Squishy Option
Survival Hunter, after being nerfed since beta, is another melee class that doesn’t bring much utility and tends to be on the squishier side. It’s a decent option, but not exceptional.
Arms Warrior: Good but Outshined by Fury
Arms Warrior is quite strong, but it often leaves players questioning why they wouldn’t play Fury Warrior instead. While viable, it doesn’t outperform Fury, so it sits one tier lower.
Feral Druid and Shadow Priest in B Tier
Feral Druid brings Mark of the Wild but remains undertuned in terms of damage. Despite recent buffs, it still feels weak compared to other classes like Death Knight. Shadow Priest, while awaiting upcoming buffs, is currently outshined by other ranged DPS like Moonkin and Warlock. Both specs remain in the B tier for now, though Shadow Priest could rise with future buffs.

B Tier Overview
Currently, Beast Mastery Hunter sits in the C tier, but first, let’s wrap up the B tier. While some classes have potential, they face specific challenges, especially in content like Mythic Plus, where the balance of AoE and single-target damage is crucial for performance.
C Tier: Beast Mastery Hunter’s Struggles
Beast Mastery Hunter struggles with the same issues as in previous expansions. The spec requires too many talent points to focus on AoE, making it difficult to balance AoE and single-target damage. While it performs well in raids on single-target fights, it suffers in Mythic Plus, where cleave is essential.
