Hello everybody, my name is Librarian Husky. Today I have a horrific guide. Rather than talking about all the intricacies of a full run, most of which are the same as BFA.

Tips and Tricks for Horrific Visions

I just want to do a few tips and tricks uh and talking about how it works. Uh so the big one is don’t use the bronze hourglass. This thing is horrifyingly bad. Uh if you use this, you will summon a contract of Sorormy.

And at least if you are a DPS or a tank player, this is definitely not worth it cuz this like doubles the enemy’s health uh in exchange for getting a not particularly high DPS uh follower. Maybe if your character is really weak or if you want to heal these and have uh you know, the construct tank for you, maybe that could make sense. But as it stands right now, uh this is very much a bait. At least at the time of recording this, I hope they’ll change it cuz there shouldn’t be something like this that people, you know, your instinct is to use this and it’s the cool new thing and it’s actually makes the things way harder. But as it stands right now, I did a check and some mobs were more than double health uh when I had this thing on.

Okay, second tip, potions. So there are some potions scattered in the horrific visions and they are one of them will be helpful for you and one of them will actually four of them will sort of be helpful. So one of them will restore sanity, one of them will cost sanity and then three of them will give you a buff. That buff will last for 5 minutes although if you can refresh it uh from another potion of the same color it’ll jump up to like 20 minutes.

Uh and that buff will give you a small buff. I think there two of them are defensive and one of them is a little fire breath proc. So they’re not particularly useful and then when they expire or are removed uh they do a bad thing to you. But there is a helpful tip with this in Stormwind and I think there’s a similar spot in Orgamar. Right near the start there is a dead body uh and the dead body has a potion next to it. That potion is always the negative one. So the green liquids in this run will always be the bad potions. And that also tells you which one are the good potions. So, here is the way that it works. I’ve made this handy little diagram in Paint. So, green was the one we saw by that body, which means green is bad. We follow the green arrow, and that means red is the good potions. Reds will restore your sanity. So, if you don’t want to mess around with keeping your buffs uh up and worrying about the other three, you can just look at what the first potion is, follow the arrow, and then only drink the other potions.

These potions can either aid you by restoring sanity or provide buffs, but some may have detrimental effects upon expiration. Moreover, steering clear of items like the bronze hourglass is paramount. While it may seem enticing, using this item can significantly increase the difficulty of encounters by boosting enemies’ health. Understanding these nuances and implementing smart choices can greatly impact your overall success in horrific visions. Remember, preparation and knowledge are key to conquering these challenges efficiently.

Meta Progression System Overview

Uh so, or only drink red. or you might want to drink all of the ones that aren’t the green ones because there is a new meta progression system. So, there’s the tech tree uh that is helpfully time gated this time around so we don’t have too much fun all at once. And then just you know, wait until the time gate gets lifted. But there are also these tributes, and the tributes give you pretty powerful effects, uh, including the elite extermination one from killing elites, very strong. The vision hunter, uh, killing regular mobs will power up this tribute.

And then it will cause you to get haste and movement speed on kill. Uh, experimental destabilization, also good, just a damage buff that you get for just killing bosses. And then there’s finally clear sight. This one can make it so you can see treasure chests starting off in just the the cathedral district or the you know the first area and then the next two areas once you get this thing up to 40% and then all the areas once you fill it up. And in order you to empower this you do want to collect potions. So you will want to learn which one the bad potion is and then drink all the other ones if you want to keep this tribute going.

Now the next tip is the masks. So there are eight masks that you can unlock. You will unlock the first one the first time you complete a full clear of a horrific vision. And that’s the the long night mask. Now, unfortunately, this mask is also one of the nastiest. It gives you reduced maximum sanity of 50%. Which is a huge nerf because then each time you’re refilling your sanity as well, you’re refilling half as much also. Um, so you you’ll end up having half of the total sanity to play with across the entire Heric Vision. Uh, which is very very nasty. Now, you can unlock a bunch of other masks, but all of them require you to have one mask active. Uh, so here are the unlock conditions for the masks, the long knights right away. And then you can get two masks by doing the side areas, the the hard side areas in Stormwind and two masks by doing the hard side areas in Orgamar. And then there are a couple of other ones as well. There’s the mask of vengeance, which uh you can earn by killing a group of vengeful void speakers that are between the trade and oldtown districts in Stormwind. So that is uh it’s right down here in Stormwind that you can pick this up. Uh, and then that mask is actually not too bad. And then there’s also the nemesis mask, which will take two weeks to get.

Obtaining Faceless Masks in Horrific Visions

You’ll need to defeat Hoger and Gammon to acquire the Faceless Masks necessary for Horrific Visions. To obtain Hoger’s mask, interact with a wanted poster before entering the mage quarter. Defeating Hoger will yield his Nemesis Shard. Once you have both shards, you can craft the Faceless Mask of the Nemesis. Completing a full clear with three or more masks rewards you with the Faceless Mask of the Multitudes.

Each mask has unique effects. The Long Knight is particularly challenging, while Pained inflicts double madnesses. The Multitudes mask increases trash mobs and introduces more dangerous enemies. It interacts poorly with Nemesis and Vengeance. Daredevil intensifies sanity damage, making mistakes costly. Nemesis spawns Gammon or Hoger every 25 kills, beneficial for elite extermination. Dark Imagination summons additional ads below 50%, and Burned Bridge creates voidstones behind you.

Despite their benefits, all masks also grant a 25% boost to enemy damage and health.

Optimizing Your World of Warcraft Horrific Visions Strategy

So, even the easy ones make things hard. But so, my advice for you is, okay, if you if you’re just watching this, you’re at work, you know, you’re you’re a wage. You’re out there, you’re you’re you’re toiling, you’re laboring away, and you’re thinking, “Oh, I can’t wait to get home and play World of Warcraft Terrific Visions.” Um, your first run, you should just kill Yria and then leave. And then the way it works is every time you clear one of these side zones, you will get a permanent sanity drain reduction, including actually the main zone. Uh so your sanity drain starts off at full power, making it very hard to do anything in these besides just killing Yria. But once you kill Yria, you’ll get a 10% reduction. Once you buy the thing in the tech tree, you’ll get another 10%. And there’s some more time-gated ones in future weeks we’ll be able to buy. And then once you do each of these side zones, you’ll get a further stacking 10% reduction. Now, the way sanity drain reduction works is each 10% reduction is more powerful than the last in terms of how long you’re going to get to stay in here. Once you get 90%, which will be possible in a couple weeks, uh you’re going to be extremely, you know, immune to the sanity drain. But as it stands right now, I would recommend, okay, first run, kill, leave, update your quests and stuff, get turn in your quests and things. Second run, do two side areas.

You could do just the two easy side areas and then kill and then leave. Uh, and then you will get again another you’ll now be up to 30% and you can buy from the tech tree to 40% sanity reduction. Then in your next run do the other zones that you haven’t done. If you can do a full clear, otherwise just kill Yria and then leave. Uh, and then hopefully then you’ll have the 60% sanity reduction. You can do a full clear. Uh, you can buy your enchant because you need to do eight total side areas after buy getting the quest uh to do so to get your helm enchant. Get your lesser helm enchant. The greater one is again helpfully time-gated so that we don’t get too much power and excitement all at once here in the middle of May in a patch that came out in February or whatever because that would be too much for us. Uh but yeah. Okay. So then you could do a full clear, get your mask. Then once you earn the mask of the long knight, you want to do a surgical strike to either Oldtown or the mage quarter so that you can pick up uh the old town one is the pained and the mage quarter is the dark imagination. Dark imagination is probably the easier one. Pain is the one that gives you double madnesses. I did pained first and double madnesses weren’t too bad, but I’m also playing a DK which has AMS and and deaths advance which make them a lot easier. Um, so yeah, you probably want to do a surgical strike with the one mask on.

Maximizing Mask Runs for Greater Rewards

Go pick up the mask from the mage quarter. You can kill hogers to make progress towards the mask. The masks only spawn once you have at least one mask active. To access other mask mechanics, a full clear with at least one mask is required. You can acquire multiple masks and strategize for three mask runs by toggling off specific masks.

Completing higher mask runs unlocks valuable vendors. The champion weaponsmith appears after a one mask run, while the hero track vendor unlocks after multiple runs. These vendors offer weapons on their tracks and purifying kits. Purchasing a warbound purifying kit ensures all future veteran track items from horrific visions are warbound until equipped. Additionally, enchants are warbound, allowing easy transfer to alts. Consider the Void Ritual enchant for versatility, or wait for greater enchants available during specific weeks.

Engaging with the system may require patience due to time-gated content. Cosmetic purchases and rewards are locked behind tech tree progression and delayed release dates. The time gating implementation has raised concerns among players regarding Blizzard‘s design choices for Shadowlands. Despite these issues, the actual horrific visions gameplay remains enjoyable.
