First on your agenda after reaching max level should be to complete the story campaign, if it’s still pending. Many players dive directly into dungeons for a quick XP gain or get engrossed in side quests during their level-up journey. If you’ve achieved Level 80 without finishing the campaign, prioritize wrapping this up. Continue advancing through the main story quests until a splash screen informs you that additional content has been unlocked. Failing to complete the campaign means missing out on World quests, access to Allied races, Adventure Mode for alts, and the continuation of the story at max level. Make sure to conclude the initial campaign before venturing further.

Engaging in Endgame Content

Once you’ve tied up the storyline, the true endgame begins. ‘The War Within‘ expansion offers a broad array of activities, arguably more than any previous updates.

Max Level Content Overview

Dive into the max level narrative by meeting Moira in Dagal and initiating the “Fleet Arrives” quest. This quest will guide you through upcoming developments leading to the new raid and beyond. Be aware, to embark on this journey, you must attain at least Renown level four with all four Caz Algar factions, which may require some reputation grinding if you haven’t reached it yet. Additionally, this period is ideal for boosting your gear and increasing your item level to ease future challenges.

Gearing Up for the Season

Season 1 is set to commence on September 10th, marking the opening of the new raid and the beginning of Mythic dungeons. This is when the quest for better equipment really intensifies. For now, focus on enhancing your gear as much as possible to ensure a smooth start to your adventures in the new content. Nearly every endgame activity will offer significant gear upgrades, so participating in various activities will continuously strengthen your character.

Gear Upgrading Features

Discussing gear upgrades, the mechanics remain similar to those in Dragonflight. You will collect Valor Stones and different types of crests, including weathered, carved, runed, and gilded, depending on the difficulty of the content you complete. The higher your gear’s item level, the more advanced crests you’ll require for upgrades.

Understanding Gear Upgrades

To upgrade gear, simply visit an upgrade vendor to determine the potential increase in item level and the necessary resources—Valor Stones and specific crests.

Weekly Gear Caches

A straightforward way to acquire gear is through weekly caches. Initially, these caches contain gear at item level 574, but post-season start, they upgrade to veteran gear. Opening two caches weekly guarantees two pieces of high-level gear. The first four caches each week also provide a restored Coffer key, enhancing your delve rewards.

Accessing Weekly Caches

These caches are obtainable by completing weekly activities, like the “Call of the World Soul” quest in Dagal, which requires participation in various events. Additionally, three zone-specific events each offer a cache weekly: the Theater Troop in Dagal, The Awakening the Machine in the Ringing Deeps, and the Spreading the Light in Hallof Fall.

Additional Cache Sources

Another cache can be secured from the Packed System in Ashet. Ensure participation in these areas and coordinate with the Severed Threads. Remember, the caches from the Theater Troop and the Awakening the Machine are linked to quests, not merely the events, requiring pickups from specific NPCs before participation.

World Quests and Special Assignments

Special assignment World quests also offer caches, with two available weekly. Unlock these by first completing standard World quests in the area, which themselves provide gear up to item level 571, Coffer key fragments, various currencies, and boost your reputation or renown.

Exploring Delves

In the War Within, delves offer a mini-dungeon experience that you can tackle either solo or with a group of up to four players. These 13 delves are distributed across the new zones, each offering a distinct gameplay experience. At the conclusion of each delve, players encounter unique challenges and can earn special rewards.

Delve Rewards and Efficiency

Delves consistently yield treasure chests filled with currencies, items related to delve progression, and equipment. The rewards improve with the delve’s tier level. Crucially, players utilize Restored Coffer Keys in these delves, especially during daily Bountiful delves which are marked differently on the map and offer superior loot. At the end of these enriched delves, a locked chest awaits, which can only be opened with a Restored Coffer Key, containing high-quality gear and other valuable items.

Strategic Use of Restored Coffer Keys

Given the initial limitation to the first three tiers of delves until the season begins, it might be wise to conserve your Restored Coffer Keys for higher-tier delves to maximize gear improvement efficiency. After initiating the max level campaign, players should pick up the Bountiful Delve quest in Dagal, rewarding them with the Delver’s Dirigible Mount. Completing a Bountiful Delve fulfills this quest requirement without necessitating the opening of the locked chest, preserving your keys.

Collecting Customization Options and Radiant Echoes

In addition to gear, delves provide numerous customization options for the Delver’s Dirigible Mount, adding an enjoyable element to the gameplay. The locked chests at delve terminuses also hold Radiant Echoes, key for initiating World Soul events in Calgar zones. These echoes are visible on your map when carried, simplifying event location. Activating a Radiant Echo at event sites triggers exclusive content where players can engage in a time-limited event.

Participating in Time-Limited Events

During these events, participants aim to eliminate as many adversaries as possible to earn Coffer Key Shards and Valor Stones, augmenting their reward haul. These events represent just a portion of the extensive open-world content available, which also includes dungeon challenges. The normal dungeons provide a straightforward path to acquiring item level 554 gear, preparing players for more demanding challenges.

Advancing Through Dungeon Levels

Heroic dungeons, offering item level 571 gear (increasing to 580 when the season launches), pose greater challenges but yield better rewards. Players can easily access these through queues for both random normal and heroic dungeons, ensuring efficient progression through the game’s content. Additionally, four new factions offer the opportunity to earn reputation and unlock various rewards through their renown tracks.

Earning Faction Reputation and Rewards

Gaining 2,500 reputation points elevates your Renown by one level, with each of the four factions offering 25 Renown levels packed with unlockable

rewards. These rewards range from content access and cosmetic items to gear upgrades and valuable currencies. Remarkably, early Renown levels can reward players with item level 571 or 584 gear, with potential increases up to item level 597 in later levels. Reputation can be earned through various activities like completing quests, participating in world events, and defeating rare creatures. Additionally, contracts are available for purchase that provide bonus reputation gains, albeit at a higher cost, and a weekly dungeon quest further boosts reputation acquisition.

Maximizing Renown and Rare Monster Hunts

In Dagal, a specific quest offers a significant boost to your reputation with a selected faction, which is ideal for focusing on a particular Renown track. Additionally, hunting rare monsters in the new Calgar regions can prove beneficial. These monsters may drop gear up to item level 577, especially the rare Elites. Such gear is also warbound, meaning it’s tradable across your characters. Engaging with these rare creatures not only potentially equips you better but also increases your standing or Renown in the respective zone.

Exploring Professions at Endgame

The endgame is an excellent time to delve into professions, providing a diverse range of gameplay options. Whether you aim to amass wealth, craft superior items, concoct numerous potions as a prolific alchemist, or simply gather resources for sale, professions enrich your endgame experience. They allow you to acquire profession-specific knowledge and specialize in particular crafting branches, tailoring your skills to your preferences.

Advancing Gear through Professions

Professions also offer avenues for substantial gear improvements. Starting with recipes for up to item level 558 gear, these initial crafts are straightforward and offer a significant gearing advantage. Moreover, acquiring a Soul Sigil can enhance your crafted items to item level 574, marking a substantial upgrade.

Enhancing Gear with Enchanted Crests

Additionally, utilizing weathered crests, players can create Enchanted Weathered Harbinger Crests, enabling the crafting of item level 590 gear. This is particularly advantageous as players transition into season 1, providing an excellent gear baseline. If you’re new to crafting, the Crafting Order Building in Dagal is your next stop.

Getting Started with Professions

Within the Crafting Order Building, a quick quest involves simply conversing with a clerk, rewarding you with a selection of profession materials. This not only kickstarts your crafting but also grants you 350 Artisans’ Acuity, a crucial resource for advancing in your chosen profession, especially if you are more interested in crafting gear rather than developing your crafting skills.

Using the Crafting Order System

The Crafting Order system allows you to commission crafted items without engaging in the crafting process yourself, although this may cost a notable amount of gold. This system becomes even more valuable with the introduction of Sparks. By participating in weekly activities, such as the World Soul weekly quest, you can collect Fragmented Sparks of Omens, essential for advanced crafting.

Utilizing Fragmented Sparks for Advanced Crafting

To craft high-tier gear, you’ll need whole Sparks, obtainable by combining two Fragmented Sparks. Every two weeks, you can craft or order item level 606 gear, with potential upgrades reaching item level 636 in the new season. This method of using Sparks in crafting can significantly enhance your gear level, providing a substantial boost every couple of weeks.

Preparing for the New Season with Alts

If the current pre-season offerings don’t pique your interest or you prefer to gear up once the season officially begins, consider dedicating some time to your alternate characters (alts). Exploring different class abilities, leveling various professions, or simply increasing the number of alts at max level to maximize weekly quests and activities can enhance your experience in War Within. Leveling speed has dramatically increased, allowing for rapid progression through campaign quests, side quests, and delves.

Efficient Alt Leveling Strategies

Currently, one of the quickest leveling methods is to repeatedly run dungeons—a tactic some players have refined to reduce leveling time to merely two hours. This approach is particularly effective in the War Within, accelerating even more as you add more max-level characters to your roster. Alts can bypass the introductory content and head directly to Dagal after reaching level 80, without missing any critical experiences.

Maximizing Benefits from In-game Events

Regularly consulting the in-game calendar for upcoming weekly events or special holidays can be beneficial. Notably, the Dark Moon Fair, set to arrive on September 1st, typically offers a 10% increase in both reputation and experience gains. Utilizing these buffs during one-time quest completions or side quest marathons can significantly expedite your progress.

Engaging with Weekly and Seasonal Events

The return of familiar weekly quests, including dungeon runs and time walking events, presents additional opportunities to acquire gear and experience different gameplay styles. These activities are essential to maximize the new expansion’s offerings at max level and should be prioritized for optimal progression.
