Week Two of Horrific Visions

Week two of Horrific Visions is now live, giving us access to Orgrimmar. This means we can obtain the final three masks required for an eight-mask run attempt. The challenge seemed less daunting than anticipated. On the PTR, the lack of turbo event and lower eye level made it difficult. However, with the current adjustments, the mobs are more manageable.

If you completed a five-mask run last week, this week’s challenge shouldn’t be overly difficult. The fact that a fully maxed tree isn’t necessary is a positive sign. With future upgrades, such as the Gift of the Titans and increased eye level, success should be attainable for those currently struggling. Let’s delve into the run details.

The run typically starts with standard preparations like flasks and potions. The specific route isn’t crucial due to the improved sanity situation with the nemesis mechanic. The nemesis spawns an elite every 25 enemies, providing 150 sanity when defeated with maxed tributes. It’s essential to optimize nemesis spawns to maintain sanity levels. Utilizing the nemesis effectively can significantly benefit your run. Checking and selecting the appropriate potion color is crucial for success. This week’s run allows for a more relaxed pace compared to the previous week’s rush against sanity depletion. With proper management, mistakes can be tolerated without sacrificing speed. The nemesis is promptly dealt with, ensuring optimal sanity levels throughout the run.

Strategy and Execution

Moving forward, the strategy involves a balance of efficiency and caution. While speed isn’t a pressing concern, strategic planning is key. Minimizing errors and maximizing nemesis utilization are vital components of a successful run. Paying attention to potion colors and nemesis spawns can significantly impact the outcome.

The run’s pace allows for methodical progress without the urgency of previous weeks. Maintaining sanity levels through smart decision-making and resource management is essential. The nemesis mechanic serves as a valuable tool in navigating the challenges within the vision. Adaptability and foresight play crucial roles in overcoming obstacles and optimizing efficiency.

Overall, the second week of Horrific Visions offers a more manageable experience compared to initial expectations. The adjustments in mechanics and pacing provide a more balanced and strategic approach to completing challenging runs. Exploring the Valley of Spirits

So, we’re going to head to the Valley of Spirits first of all. That’s going to be our first section. The last two sections, especially the Valley of Honor, that’s going to be where like the mob difficulty is. Now, these mobs are definitely dangerous still, so don’t underestimate them. Don’t overpull if you can’t do it. But um the last section is going to be where you can really kind of die if you’re caught out.

We’re going to pop cool downs on this guy. We’re going to get him dead. Obviously wind walker things. We do high burst. So we’re able to kill that guy with no problem. Basically just want to dodge his charge and then he’ll throw like a thing and you want to kind of move behind him so you don’t get hit by it. We are going to have hog spawn here as well.

So we’re just going to kill that pack. He’s going to get a little bit bolstered, but two stacks isn’t really anything too much to worry about here. We want to be making sure we don’t get yeetated into another pack, which can be a little bit dangerous. But for the most part, we’re just kind of going through these packs. We don’t really care about this interrupt too much. Not going to do too much damage there. It’s not going to cause sanity drain.

We’re going to be killing down the mobs, clicking the totems as we go. There will be a patrol here that can patrol into this. That can be a little bit dangerous, so you might want to cool down if that does happen. But for the most part, if your timing’s right, he should just be walking along now that we’ve killed that pack. And we can get this guy killed no problem cuz it’s just three mobs. Now, these next couple of packs are kind of dangerous. I do go for the potion here cuz it’s red. I was like, we might as well grab the extra saniter. Um, but we don’t really need it. It’s just nice to kind of be fully topped up.

Dealing with Tough Packs

But we are going to get a hogger spawn soon anyway or gammon. And this pack can be dangerous though. If you don’t have some burst for it, it can be quite dangerous cuz there’s going to be four casters and the big guy will get bolstered too. We have Another gammon spawn. You can see my sanity is still basically full. So killing him now is going to make us full sanity again. Like sanity is just not really too much of an issue.

We start our three orbs. We don’t really care about sanator. So, we’ve got the totem killed. This is another pack that can be a little bit dangerous. The mobs are going to slowly come in. These craze dudes are going to cast on you. So, you might want some CC for them once they’re all cast in just to get that stopped. Another pack that can be a little bit dangerous cuz these guys are going to get bolstered, but not too bad.

Now, this mini boss can actually get you uh your run over because what he’s going to do is you see we kind of slow DPS him and then I use my big cool down when he starts doing hopelessness because we want to try and get him killed before he really starts doing that. But hopelessness is going to pull your soul out. You have to go and find it on the orb and there’s going to be these waves coming. But getting hit by a wave is going to do 300 sanity damage. So, you do not want to get hit by a wave. And that’s why we use our cool downs like that just so we can get that done.

I’m going to move into the Valley of Wisdom now. We’re actually going to ignore that first mob because I don’t want the NPC with me because if we have the NPC, it’s going to come and stop these mobs from coming over to us. She’s going to like go and fight them. So, we’re going to leave her over there. We’re going to pull the mobs back. We’re going to dodge the cage and then we’re going to slowly pull them back into this. We’re going to have our Gammon spawn again. So, killing Gammon again is going to mean we’re on full HP or Santor. We did miss a red potion in the Valley of Spirits if you noticed it as well, but I just didn’t care about it.

Elite Encounter and Strategy

There‘s also going to be another potion here that we can choose to grab later on. But right now, once again, I don’t really need it. We’re going to be nearly full from Gammon. We’re about to kill another elite, too. So, it’s just like we don’t, we just don’t need it. This elite is a bit cheesy, though. So, what I do is pop my cool downs. I’m going to kite him back because if he can’t get too close to you, he won’t throw you. But what he’ll normally do is throw you and do sanity sanity damage that’s not really avoidable.

And the only way to avoid that is by kiting him out. So, I’m able to do that as a wind walker monk. Most people aren’t going to have that luxury. It is going to take a bit of sanity damage off you, but once again, we had that potion to the side. Worst case, if I did get caught, I’d go and chug that and we’d basically be at full sanity again.

I fall off here and I’m like, uh, what am I going to do? Cuz I know going over here is probably going to pull this pack. This is a kind of dangerous pack. The dominator is the most important mob in this pack. Make sure that it is dead because it will do a cast that will stun you. Not the bolt, the cast after the bolt. So, make sure you’re interrupting that cast. I think it’s like at the abyss or something. Make sure that’s interrupted or CCD or just killed and get him done.

Once again, we spawn another Gammon. Our sanity is a little bit lower this time, but we have an elite after this. We kill Gammon, so we’re at like 75% sanity and we are about to kill an elite again. So, it means we’re basically going to be close to full sanity. We’re going to kill down these tentacles, which are taking the time, but we’ve come into this. This guy can catch you out once again, but fairly easy, especially with the affixes we’ve got this week. Just make sure you are paying attention to the split personality, but he is going to do the first cast, which will put a blob on the ground that if you walk through is going to do sanity damage.

Dealing with Mini Boss Mechanics

And then the second cast is going to be a volley, which if you get hit by is going to do sanity damage. So, the only risk here is if he does the cage as you’re trying to move and you walk into the cage, you’re in the volley, you take a ton of sanity damage from getting hit by the volley. That’s going to be the main thing. We find another potion. But once again, our sanity was pretty high anyway. It’s not like this the potions need to be like in good positions for us to stay alive here. We’re completely fine. I’m going to wait out the cage before I pull the boss. We’re going to pop everything. This is probably one of the more dangerous mini bosses. We’re going to dodge his defile ground, which is going to be a frontal cone. We’re going to make sure we’re close to him for the ring. And then we’re just going to be dodging these swirlies. But if you get hit by the ring, that’s going to be 300 sanity damage.

If you get hit by the frontal, the defiled ground, that’s going to be uh 370 damage plus a stun, which is probably going to get you killed. So, we do need to make sure we’re dodging those. And that’s why I wait for the cage to come out first, cuz if the cage happens as the defiled grounds are happening, you’re probably in a rough spot, especially if the orb ring is around you, too. It can be pretty tricky. So, do make sure you’re kind of saving cooldowns and bursts. Try and get him done as quickly as possible and weigh out the cage before you pull him. So, now we’re going to move over to the drag. Nothing too special here. We’re just pulling the packs. This patrol can come in and cause a little bit of issues. So, as you see, I I know it’s too far away. We’re going to sit in the corner with Gam so the patrol doesn’t pull. But if that patrol comes in, it can end up bolstering a mob a bit too much and it might be a bit too dangerous. But, yep, no problem there. So, we’re going to kill Gammon. We’re going to move into this section.

Dealing with Dangerous Packs

And then this is where things get a little bit more kind of dangerous. There‘s going to be some pretty dangerous packs in here. So, you do want to think about your defensives, your cool downs, things like that as we’re going along. But this guy’s going to put down a circle and we’re just going to dodge it. It’s going to like bounce and then he’s going to do a frontal beam. So, we just kind of want to kite him out. You know, once the orb happens, we’re going to move away from him. And once the dark force happens, we’re going to move to his side or back. I do save a cool down here as well. So, we can pop it on this pack cuz, as you see, it’s quite a large pack. And these mobs can get bolstered and do quite a bit of damage.

So, do make sure you’re paying attention to your cooldowns and also paying attention to where Gammon is because if Gammon spawns at the start of a pack like this, like right now, this is going to be pretty dangerous. There’s a Dominator in this group as well. So, you see I prioritize him down. I’ve got Touch of Death as well. So, I’m just going to kind of calm Gammon and we’re going to touch death him and get him done. Even though he was bolstered, we’re not too worried there. But that dominator can ruin your run. If you leave it alone, you pull the pack, the mobs come back, the Dominator’s just going to cast a stun on you, you’re dead. So, do keep in mind about that.

We’re going to this pack. Not too dangerous of a pack. Uh, we’re going to go through and get this guy out and kill this guy. And then we’re going to be on to the next pack. Once again, another kind of dangerous pack. This is going to have two dominators on it. So, I’m going to use a set of clones and make sure the dominators die cuz once again, if they get their stun cast off, it’s probably over. Keeping an eye out for potion. But once again, look at my um plan. We’re pretty chilling.

Mini Boss Encounter Strategy

And we have one more enemy to kill until we get Gammon. We’re on the mini boss, which is going to give us another 150 sanity. So, we have 300 sanity ready to go. You can see I’m on like 75%. So, we’re going to be over count. Now, this guy is kind of rough. The void torrent. If you’re too close to him, he’s going to just hit you. So, you kind of want to get some range so you’ve got enough space to kind of run. If you try and kind of run around him really fast, it’s a bit tricky, but you can do that, too.

What I’d recommend doing is just getting a bit of distance, running around, waiting for that to end, and then running back in. The shield is a bit rough to DPS through though, so you probably want some cool downs for that. This thing not too bad, especially if you’ve got a curse or not a curse, a poison dispel. This section is pretty nice if you do have poison dispel. So, keep that in mind. But this place in general just pretty good for Windwalker Monk. It does make it a lot more trivial. So, me saying it was easier than I expected early on. I think a lot of that does come down to Wind Walker Monk just having a pretty good kit for this.

Um, so don’t feel too bad if you’re struggling. We’re also going to CC a mob. So that’s going to make Wind Walker a kind of a little bit better here as well because this guy hurts. He’s going to knock you back. And he can just be a little bit dangerous while bolstered. So I just get him CCd so I can deal with all the little guys. We’re going to wait for the bolster to basically end. Going to dodge the breath. We’re going to get knocked back away from that pack. We don’t want to be knocked into that pack.

Effective Tactics for Handling the Mini Boss

Navigating the challenges posed by the mini boss requires a strategic approach that involves maintaining a safe distance to avoid the void torrent and utilizing cooldowns effectively to penetrate the shield. The encounter becomes more manageable with the presence of a Windwalker Monk, given their kit’s suitability for the situation.

Additionally, employing crowd control measures on a troublesome mob enhances the overall efficiency of the battle, especially in mitigating the dangers posed by the mini boss’s abilities. By executing these tactics with precision and timing, players can ensure a smoother progression through this challenging section of the game.

Dealing with Stacking Stun Mechanics

That’s going to be real bad. Once again, I do the same thing here. Now, this mob isn’t as dangerous, but it’s just something else to deal with. Um, but These little guys can do a stacking stun, and that’s really important to keep in mind. So, you kind of want to CC them, use a defensive, use something that’ll make you stun immune, um, or dispel it, whatever it is you can do, because if you get stunned in that pack, they might kill you. Um, so kind of dangerous.

Now, the sanity here is finally starting to look a little bit sketchy. This is the first time where it’s like, oh, my sanity is not too great. We are going to kill Gammon, though, which is going to boost our uh sanity up again. We do see a red potion in the water there as well. So, I’m like, okay, cool. We’re going to grab that in a moment. I’m going to CC one of these guys. We’re going to pull him back because there is a bunch of bugs here, too. They’re going to be trying to stun me. We’re just going to pull those back. We’re going to kill these off. We’re going to grab that red potion. And then, I was going to wait for the bolster to end, but this guy is pretty easy to deal with. We just need to dodge his big green circle, interrupt the void venom bolt, and we’re pretty okay as long as you can kill him before he gets too many venom bolts off.

This is one of the most deceptive and dangerous packs. These little guys will stun you and murder you in seconds. So, you do want to be using a defensive here. You want to be using CC if you’ve got it. Do not take them lightly because they will instantly kill you before you know what’s happened. Don’t make the same mistake as me. Once again, this big guy, not too big of an issue now that he’s on his own, though. So, we’re just going to kind of. I shouldn’t have interrupted that. We should wait for the venom bolt, but it’s fine. We’re okay.

Strategic Approach to Elite Elimination

We’re going to kill that off. We’re going to eliminate Gammon. It may seem a bit uncertain, but if I were to make a careless mistake, we might end up losing. However, we are prepared. We have another elite opponent to defeat, so our composure is intact. I also notice a red potion nearby. This makes it two red potions we’ve located in this area. Therefore, our mental stability is assured. We are not under significant threat. There’s no urgent need for us to deploy an orb. Our objective is to defeat this adversary swiftly to preempt any hostile actions. Once again, it’s crucial to be vigilant and dodge the orbs. The opponent will attempt the file drown maneuver. Whenever possible, we will redirect it towards a wall. The surge attack is next. We will advance for a moment and then retreat. The sequence may vary; it could be retreat first and then advance. We’ll activate the additional orb for style points, but our mental state is solid. Finally, we will conclude this encounter.
