Hello, Librarian Husky here! Phase Four of Season of Discovery may be well underway, but having money is still king. Getting an Epic mount, the 0.5 gear, and all those really expensive raid consumables is crucial. The problem is that incursions are completely dead as a gold maker. If you want to succeed in Phase 4, you’re going to need a whole new approach to Gold making. That’s where this guide comes in with the ultimate tips for making money in Phase 4.
Major Ways to Make Gold in Phase 4
There are really four major ways to make gold in Phase 4. We have an entirely new way of making money involving dungeon spam that we’re going to start with. We also have services like transmutes or even smelting dark iron ore. There’s also a huge profit to be made from bis crafts and enchants like Crusader. If you get the right recipe, you could be making thousands of gold per week. Finally, we’re going to be covering some really easy Auction House flips you could be doing every single day for free money.
Dungeon Farming
Starting off with our newest gold maker, we have Dungeon farming. This is really the best way to start your Epic mount farming journey. When you farm Endgame dungeons like Scholomance, you’re getting major Mana pots, Dark runes, and even tier 0.5 gear you can sell in the auction house.
Profitable Dungeon Drops
I’ve sold some pieces like the Gauntlets of Elements for over 200 gold or the Shadowcraft Gloves for over 100 gold profit. Don’t sleep on the new Demon FS Canyon dungeon either. I’ve had multiple guildies tell me they got Eye of Shadow drops from the new DFC dungeon, so there’s some insane profit there if you get lucky.
New Currency: Tarnished Undermine Reals
It’s not 2019 anymore, so you don’t just have to pray to the RNG Gods if you want to get money. Every single boss in all the Endgame dungeons is going to be dropping a new currency called the Tarnished Undermine Reals. If you turn in five of this currency at Pix in Booty Bay, you can get a damaged crate. Damaged crates can contain things like Black Lotus and Winter Squids, and the average value seems to be about 15 gold per crate.
Daily Dungeon Earnings
You can get 83 R per day if you do every single dungeon, and that would be over 250 gold per day. With a gamer group, you could be doing all the dungeons in about 5 or 6 hours. That’s a very respectable 50 gold per hour, not even including all the drops you’ll get.
Raid Profits
Dungeons are definitely great profit right now, but you’re really sleeping on raid profit. Twice a week, the world bosses like Kazzak can drop extremely valuable items like Eye of Shadow. We also can’t forget Sunken Temple, which you can run with about 15 players, and you can do that twice a week as well.
Sunken Temple Rewards
Inside Sunken Temple, you’ll be getting Flask of Mojo drops, and these are worth over five gold each right now because they are used in the best Jungle Durians. One Itali Mojo turns into 20 Jungle Durian, and those are definitely the best water.
Essential Farming Items
For every single caster, the Mojo and the Nightmare Seeds are also used in the BIS shoulder enchants for every single player as well. These items are really only going to go up in value, and they’re definitely worth farming. Throwing in a bonus farm as well, we have the Frostmaul Echo Farm.
Frostmaul Echo Farm
You need to do the Cache of Mauri quest first, but then your guild can go out and farm these echoes from the Frostmaul Giants, and you could easily make a few hundred gold in just one night. So, we’ve talked farming; now let’s talk about some services you can do to make insane gold.
Alchemy Transmutes
If there’s one gold maker that’s really paid for my Epic mount in Phase 4, it’s got to be Alchemy transmutes. Arcanite bar transmutes can be done once every two days, and they are absolutely printing me money. Because I’ve done the Transmute Mastery quest in Tanaris, I’m routinely getting 200 gold in profit from one transmute.
Transmute Mastery
In fact, my last two transmutes cost me about 50 gold total, and I made over 400 gold. Your characters only have to be level 41 for transmutes, so I highly recommend you make all your alts Alchemy Transmute Masters so you can start pumping money.
Other Profitable Transmutes
Also, don’t sleep on the other transmutes. For example, Undead to Water is like 27 gold profit right now. The benefit of doing these transmutes is that there’s only a one-day cooldown on them too.

Combining Alchemy Transmutes with Other Professions
What’s really cool about Alchemy transmutes is that you can actually combine them with another profession as well. For example, you could combine them with leatherworking and the Salt Shaker. Every three days, you can make about 60 gold with the refined Deeprock Salt. Alternatively, you can do Mooncloth and make about 20 gold every four days. It’s not as good, but if it’s on all your alts, it’s still really nice free money.
Selling Convenience Services
While we talk services, there are a number of ways you can actually sell convenience and save players time to make free money as well. Especially on the Horde side, we have some really frustrating travel between Kharanos and Orgrimmar; it’s just a nightmare right now. You can get away with selling portals and water in Kharanos for over four gold each, and you can also get away with selling summons to Orgrimmar for about five gold each, which is insane.
Unlocking Boxes and Smelting Dark Iron Bars
Talking about Orgrimmar, if you want to make money like my friend Jim does, he unlocks people’s boxes in Orgrimmar as his Rogue and makes about 10 gold per hour in between AQ runs. Another trending Rogue service, if you have mining, is to smelt Dark Iron Bars. The profit margin on this can be three to four gold per bar, so you’re just printing money, though physically having to move just seems too exhausting.
Enchanting and Crafting Opportunities
For you, enchanting and crafting could be really good options. My friend Seth, for example, has already made over 500 gold selling the leather-reinforced Runecloth Bags. I’m definitely seeing leather workers selling Hide of the Wild, which is an item I need for my pre-bis gear. You also can’t forget the insanely profitable Crusader enchant that everybody wants or even the Lionheart Helm, which a lot of people still want.
Profitable Auction House Flips
Making money in Classic wouldn’t be complete without some big Auction House shuffles and flips. The first flip I found is with the tier 0.5 dungeon gear. For every single class, three of their eight tier 0.5 pieces are actually bind on equip. I’ve made an Auctionator list, which I put in the document below, that you can import to check all the different prices and start flipping these items.
Price Comparison and Strategy
What’s really cool about this sheet is that it has both Alliance and Horde sides. Let’s say you’re Horde; you could paste in the exports on your side, and then your friend on Alliance can paste in the exports on their side. It’ll compare the price differences on each side. The reason you might want to do this is to exploit market differences and maximize your profits.
Profitable Gear Trades
That is because, let’s say, the Paladin pieces can still drop on the Horde side. So, I’ve sold a bunch of Paladin pieces to my friend in the Alliance, and he posts those for five or six times the profit. Meanwhile, he sold me a bunch of Shaman pieces, which I sell for five or six times the profit. It’s just been incredibly good for getting my mount.

Vendor and Disenchant Shuffles
Another strong Auction House profit maker is vendor and disenchant shuffles. You can set up TSM in the desktop app, and then you can scan and immediately see which items can be profitable if they’re sold to the vendor. Every single hour, I do the vendor search, sell all the items to the vendor, and make up to five gold every single hour from that.
Crafting and Selling to Vendors
There are so many other Vendor flips you can do as well. For example, you can take Silk Cloth under two silver, turn it into Heavy Bandages, and then vendor it for profit.
Using TSM Disenchant Search
We’ve also got to talk about how you can use the TSM disenchant search to make a ton of free money. Every single hour, I’m able to snipe all the underpriced vendor items that can be disenchanted into higher value items. You can get items like Large Brilliant Shards and Illusion Dust. It’s just free money.
Enhancing Disenchant Profits
If you really want to amp up Disenchant profits, things like Runecloth Headbands can be crafted and disenchanted. In Phase Four, we offer so many different ways to make money. You could be a money-printing world tour superstar, going around and printing money in all the different dungeons. Or you could be making completely free money with all your alts doing crafting CDs and cooldowns.
Crafting Profitable Enchants
If you really want to amp up your profit, you could be doing things like crafting Crusader enchants for people. No matter what you pick, I would love to hear how your Phase 4 gold-making journey is going. Have you managed to get your Epic mount yet like I have? Personally, I only bought mine because I didn’t want to be the last person out in Alterac Valley, so everybody makes fun of me.
