We’ve been eagerly anticipating this new chapter for Death Knights, and I’m excited to introduce our updated one-button Frost DK macro for Cataclysm Classic. This macro is finely tuned for the Inferno heroics and, as you know, it performs incredibly well, allowing you to maintain high DPS even with average gear.

Build Overview

We are using a dual-wield build, with Razorice on the main hand and Fallen Crusader on the off-hand. Ensure you’re in Unholy Presence to benefit from the attack speed and Rune regeneration buffs. The talent choices emphasize maximizing synergy, with three out of three in Nerves of Cold Steel for one-handed weapons and complementary abilities like Annihilation, Chill of the Grave, Killing Machine, Rime, and Threat of Thassarian.

Reforging Made Simple with Reforge Light

To streamline the reforging process, we use the Reforge Lite add-on. Once installed, it will automatically open when you visit the reforge NPC. Go to the preset options, choose Death Knight, Frost, and then select Obliterate. Click “Calculate,” followed by “Show” and finally “Reforge,” and the add-on will handle the adjustments for you efficiently.

Playing Frost DK with the One-Button Macro

Using a one-button macro for Frost DK simplifies combat. Start by ensuring Horn of Winter is active before entering combat—though the macro will usually AutoCast it, so manual activation is rarely needed. Just spam the macro throughout the fight. At the start of combat, your diseases will be applied with Outbreak, and Howling Blast, if glyphed, will keep Frost Fever active.

Tracking Diseases with Add-ons

To monitor disease duration, I use a WeakAura alert that notifies me when diseases fall off. This WeakAura, along with the “plate and name plates” add-on, helps track all essential disease information, keeping your debuffs in check throughout each encounter.

Optimizing AOE Encounters with Additional Macros

For AOE encounters, I rely on a separate GSE macro to drop Death and Decay, followed by Pestilence to spread diseases. As long as Death and Decay is off cooldown, this setup works effectively. The main one-button macro focuses heavily on Obliterate, generating numerous Freezing Fog procs through the Rime talent. When this procs, WeakAura will alert you to manually use Howling Blast.

Health Recovery with Death Strike and Glyph of Dark Succor

With the Glyph of Dark Succor, Death Strike provides a guaranteed heal of at least 20% of your health pool, which is also tracked by WeakAura. This integration ensures you can maintain health recovery during intense battles, adding a layer of survivability to your setup.
