Welcome to the AAR guide for obtaining Dragonwrath, the legendary staff for hunters. If you’re aiming to get this powerful weapon, you likely already know its capabilities. To start the journey, speak to a bronze dragon in your capital city or defeat the first trash pack in the Firelands raid to receive the opening quest. Follow the quest chain until you reach “All-Seeing Eye,” then prepare to head back into the raid.
Gathering Eternal Embers
To proceed, you’ll need 25 Eternal Embers from Firelands bosses, so ensure you’re in the raid group and eligible to loot. These embers can be master-looted to any player, often going to the most persistent requester. Additionally, purchase three Sands of Time from Yasmin in Uldum—assuming you’re not short on gold.
Collecting Focus Fragments in Firelands
Next, return to the Firelands and collect a focus fragment from each of the first four bosses. During each fight, gather three fragments and combine them into a focus. Drop the focus to charge it with an ability, then retrieve it. Blizzard has updated this step, so all three fragments should now drop at once, allowing you to avoid waiting for a full reset before proceeding to the next stage.

Charging Focuses Without Killing Bosses
While charging each focus, avoid killing the bosses—simply charge it, wipe, and proceed to the next. For Shannox, fragments drop from a broken prism trap; drop it to be hit by his spear throw. On Beth’tilac, they drop from a drone add—take it up top and drop it just before a Devastation cast, then retrieve it. For Rhyolith, fragments spawn around the platform edges; drop the focus to be hit by his Stomp. On Alysrazor, fragments drop from hatching eggs, and you should drop it right before she reaches 100 energy to be hit by full power.
Unlocking the Mini-Boss Encounter
Once all four focuses are collected, go to the portal icon on the left side of the raid map to unlock a mini-boss encounter. In Phase One, prioritize kicking the AOE barrage cast to control the ads. During Phase Two, avoid removing the roots, or his AOE will launch you into the air. In Stage Three, the boss will fixate on the questing player—use Heroism/Bloodlust and burn him down, then retrieve the branch to upgrade your staff, beginning your journey toward Dragonwrath.
Gathering Seething Cinders
Return to the Firelands to collect 1,000 Seething Cinders by defeating bosses. This phase requires careful planning; avoid killing bosses prematurely in previous steps to avoid waiting for the weekly reset. Once the cinders are collected, wait for another reset to begin siphoning Smoldering Essences with the upgraded staff, continuing to progress toward the legendary Dragonwrath.

Acquiring the Heart of Flame
If you manage to collect all required items before reaching Ragnaros in the same reset, you can loot the Heart of Flame. On heroic difficulty, it drops immediately after his defeat with no changes. On normal difficulty, any player holding the staff will emit an AOE effect every 60 seconds, so stand apart from others to avoid damage. Most importantly, ensure you survive—dying means you can’t loot the heart, and you may need to ask your raid leader to call a wipe. Successfully surviving the fight allows you to loot the heart from the lava, enabling the final step toward crafting your legendary staff.
Timeframe for Completion
With recent Blizzard adjustments, acquiring the required materials should take around 12 weeks with consistent boss kills. This timeframe allows a guild to craft three to four staves on 10-man mode and seven to eleven on 25-man. Assuming full loot collection per reset, it breaks down as follows: one reset for Eternal Embers, a second for the portal event and Seething Cinders, and a final reset for Smoldering Essence and the Heart of Flame. Additionally, gather 9,000 gold if needed for quest expenses. Overall, expect around three weeks to complete the staff if your guild prioritizes your loot needs.
Final Remarks
Now, with your legendary staff in hand, you can show off with an iconic orange weapon. Enjoy your enhanced abilities, and may your raids be victorious!
