Greetings, battle-brothers! This is Librarian Husky, and today I bring you an in-depth guide to mastering the classes in Space Marine 2. Whether you’re a veteran of the battlefield or a newcomer looking to dominate the battlefield, this guide will walk you through the strengths, weaknesses, and best tactics for each class. From the mighty Heavy to the versatile Tactical, let’s dive into the details and maximize your potential in this unforgiving universe!

Heavy Class Overview

The Heavy class was a powerhouse when the game was released, and this has only become more evident since the heavy plasma weapon received a significant buff in the last patch. This weapon is extremely powerful, making the class even more formidable. All weapon choices for this classβ€”heavy bolter, heavy plasma, and heavy melterβ€”are excellent and can carry your team to victory once they reach Relic tier. Even before that, a green-level plasma weapon is already incredibly strong.

Strengths of the Heavy Class

The Heavy class excels at nearly everything: clearing AG, taking down elites, and boss fights. The class also has excellent survivability, thanks to its ultimate ability, Iron Halo, which serves as both a shield and an invaluable defense mechanism during challenging encounters.

Buffs and Support Abilities of the Heavy Class

When properly spec’d, the Heavy class increases damage and provides teammates with extra armor segments when the shield is exhausted. It also improves ability recharge speed, which adds incredible value to the team. In addition, the Heavy class provides you and your team with a 25% increased ammo capacityβ€”a significant advantage in long engagements.

Weaknesses of the Heavy Class

Where does the Heavy class fall short? The main drawback is the lack of a melee weapon, which can be tricky to adjust to. However, the charge-up attack compensates for this by recovering armor segments. Despite this, the class remains firmly in S-tier for its versatility and power.

Sniper Class Overview

The Sniper class is incredibly fun to play and excels in raw damage output, especially against single targets. If you spec this class correctly, you will become a specialist in taking down elite enemies. The standout weapons for this class are the Stalker Bolt Rifle and the Las-File. The Las-File offers a more traditional sniper experience, while the Stalker allows for a faster-paced, run-and-gun marksman approach.

Weapon Specialization in the Sniper Class

If you spec the Las-File correctly, it can be tailored for either AD-clear or single-target damage, depending on your team’s needs. The Stalker Bolt Rifle can also be spec’d to deal excellent damage while offering almost infinite ammo, making it an ideal weapon for prolonged engagements.

Sniper Class Performance and Synergy

The Sniper class shines against elite and boss enemies, especially when combined with the Tactical class. The ORPC scan boosts your damage output, allowing for powerful one-shots. The class also excels in survivability, thanks to its cloak ability, which allows it to disengage from enemies at will.

Synergy and Cloaking in the Sniper Class

Cloaking provides the Sniper with added versatility, allowing it to increase overall damage output by combining perks. This ability also makes it possible to perform crucial team revives that other classes may not be able to accomplish. This sets the Sniper apart as a valuable strategic asset.

Team Perk and Ability Recharge in the Sniper Class

One of the best aspects of the Sniper class is its team perk, which grants a 10% ability recharge with every headshot kill. This significantly boosts the frequency with which your team can use their abilities, making the Sniper invaluable for maintaining high ability uptime during intense fights.

Sniper Class: Top-Tier Ranking

The Sniper class easily earns an S-tier ranking due to its valuable 10% headshot recharge perk, which is crucial to any team. This feature alone makes the Sniper a clear advantage over other classes. Next, let’s take a closer look at the Vanguard class.

Vanguard Class Overview

The Vanguard class excels at mobility and close-quarters combat, especially when using the powerful Melta Rifle. However, the other two weapons it utilizes are fairly average. Although the class is highly viable and enjoyable to play, it doesn’t quite match up to other classes in terms of overall team value.

Vanguard Class Team Value and Perks

The Vanguard’s grapple ability is great for getting in and out of danger and debuffing enemies. Its team perk gives you and your team 15% ability charge back when you perform an execute. This perk can work well with a sniper, but I’d argue that the sniper’s headshot perk, due to the abundance of minor enemies, is generally a more powerful option.

Health Regeneration and Execute Synergy

A great feature of the Vanguard class is its ability to regenerate 10% health from executes, and chaining these together can be highly effective. However, since the game encourages all players to use executes, this advantage is less pronounced compared to other class perks.

Vanguard Class: Pros and Cons

Activating the Vanguard’s abilities can sometimes be frustrating, and this inconsistency can be problematic. Overall, I find the Vanguard to be the least useful class, which is why I place it in B-tier. This opinion is often debated, as people either love the Vanguard or feel it’s underwhelming.

Bullwark Class: The Tank Experience

The Bullwark class offers a true tank or battle medic experience. Once you unlock its full kit and master its playstyle, you become nearly unkillable. The class excels at going toe-to-toe with any enemy, and its shock parry kit makes short work of both minor and Majoris enemies by increasing their vulnerability to AOE attacks.

Bullwark Class Strengths

The Plasma Pistol is extremely powerful in boss fights and during The Gauntlet phases. While you can use the Power Fist, the Bullwark truly shines when equipped with a heavy-stance Power Sword setup, allowing you to dominate enemies and maintain control of the battlefield.

Bullwark Class: Survival and Team Synergy

The Bullwark class features a team perk that reduces how quickly you lose contested health by 50%, dramatically increasing survivability for everyone on your team. However, some players may not fully utilize this benefit. While the Bullwark excels in survivability, its damage output doesn’t match that of the sniper or heavy class, which is expected given its role as a tank.

Ultimate Ability and Tactical Use

The Bullwark’s ultimate ability, the banner, is highly versatile. It can revive downed teammates, regenerate armor, and, when executed correctly, restore health to everyone under its effect. This makes the Bullwark an invaluable pseudo-field medic during combat.

Battle Medic Playstyle

Some players successfully use the Bullwark as a battle medic, keeping the entire team alive during intense encounters. However, despite its value, I still prefer the sniper and heavy classes due to their higher damage output and more engaging playstyles.

Assault Class: A-Tier Placement and Current Strengths

I’m placing the Assault class firmly in A-tier. While it was once less effective, recent patches have made this class much stronger. Equipping the Assault with the heavy bolt pistol and thunderhammer creates a deadly combination, making it highly effective in frontline combat.

Thunderhammer and Animation Cancelling

When properly spec’d, the thunderhammer allows you to deliver devastating double aftershock strikes. Combining this with animation-cancelling techniques allows you to unleash powerful, high-frequency gun strikes. The Assault class excels at dealing massive damage when these mechanics are used effectively.

Team Perk and Gun Strike Synergy

The Assault class’s team perk is incredibly powerful, providing a 50% increase in gun strike damage for the entire team. This perk is a game-changer, especially when combined with the heavy bolt pistol. Together, these abilities make quick work of major enemies, especially when paired with a well-timed ground pound.

Ground Pound and Perk Utilization

Taking the Zealous Blow perk allows you to quickly recharge your ground pound by killing minor enemies. This makes jumping into a group of smaller foes a highly rewarding tactic, as it boosts your offensive capabilities and makes you even more effective in battle.

Assault Class: A-Tier Placement and Strengths

The Assault class is now incredibly strong. If you haven’t tried it since its pre-launch state, you’re in for a surprise. The class’s kit is incredibly powerful, and its 50% increased gun strike damage synergizes perfectly with other classes like the Tactical. This synergy makes the Assault class an excellent choice for changing the dynamics of a fight.

Frontline Dominator and Ground Pound

The Assault class excels as a frontline dominator. Its ability to stagger and disrupt enemy lines allows your team to control the battlefield. Although this class was once underwhelming, it has now become a clear front-runner in its role.

Tactical Class: A Different Level of Support

The Tactical class stands on a completely different level from the others. Its all-spec scan ability can increase your team’s damage output by 200% for a limited time, making it an essential component in any team composition.

Tactical Class: Versatility and Team Synergy

The Tactical class can be spec’d so that all parries apply the all-spec scan, increasing the target’s damage taken by 125%. This makes focusing down enemies much easier. When combined with the sniper, heavy, or even the assault class, the Tactical class offers incredibly high uptime on scans and monstrous gun strike damage when paired with the Assault.

Weapon Viability and Team Play

The Tactical class offers a wide range of viable weapons, many of which are among the best in the game. The grenade launcher and bolter setup is particularly strong, providing nearly infinite grenade ammo thanks to the Emperor’s Vengeance perk. The Stalker Bolter, shared with the sniper, also delivers strong damage output with infinite ammo.

Weapon Choices and Class Strengths

In addition to the Melta Rifle, the Tactical class has access to the often overlooked Plasma Incinerator, which is a strong weapon in the right hands. Overall, the Tactical class is arguably the best in the game, supporting teammates beautifully and synergizing well with any other class. Its abilities may not be flashy, but their effectiveness is undeniable.
