Welcome! My name is Librarian Husky. In today’s digital world, keeping your personal data safe is essential. That’s where a special verification method called 2SV makes its appearance. By enabling this verification, you’re making sure that no hacker would ever try to steal from you. Simply enable the 2SV and be safe.
2SV Set Up With Backup Codes
Using this method of protection strengthens the security of your nice PS account. It also gives you no worries about you ever getting hacked and lots of access to your lovely account. To get the data from the 2SV, check your SMS or the app you’ve connected to. HuskyBoost tells you what to do to set up the 2SV:
- Go to manage your PS account. From there, open up a Security tab where you begin being more secure.
- Go to 2SV and enable it. From now on, you’ll be able to choose where you want your codes (either SMS or app notifications).
- Do a bit of preparation before finally receiving codes; It’s either the SMS method or the opening where you open your application, scan QR codes, and log in. In case it won’t make it through QR verification, put a key shown on display manually.
- Do a verification and activation for the 2SV you’ve successfully enabled. Do a final activation.
- The last step is to finally save the backup codes the system gave you. That is a big key point for this guide: make sure to save them all.
2SV Activation On PS4/PS5
Here’s a great HuskyBoost guide for the enabling 2SV for your console:
- Quickly jump into your account settings.
- From there, select a tab called “Users and Accounts.” Right from it, you’ll see a section that is related to security. Now, go step-by-step through our HuskyBoost guide for the 2SV.
- Select either SMS or QR verification type. Is the scan not working? Not a problem at all. Just manually put it in (the code you see on the screen).
- Do a confirmation, receive a code, make sure it all works, and hit that activation button.
Quick note: Backup codes must be saved and stored no matter what. Without them, it’s all pointless.
Importance of 2SV Backup Codes
These top-security codes are your emergency solution. If you lost your phone, or for some reason, an app doesn’t seem to work, these codes will let you log in to your account in a matter of seconds. Save them in a safe place, like a password manager such as KeepassXC, Bitwarden, or whatever you’ll find out there, so they’re ready when you need them.
Enabling this great layer of protection for your PS account means a lot! But it’s all nothing without you saving your backup codes, so please, Librarian Husky, advise you that it is really bad to save them once you’ve created them.
Authenticator Applications For 2SV
Use an application on your mobile device to verify if it’s really you who’s trying to get access to the PS account. Apps like these turn your device into a key. Once you set them up, they create unique codes that work for two-step verification (2SV).
Text Message (SMS) Authentication For 2SV
If you like simple options, selecting exactly this option for 2SV codes is awesome. Add your phone number during setup or use one already linked to your account. After you do it, you’ll get a special passcode by text where it’s needed.
Changing 2SV Methods
- Turn off your current mode of authorization: Reactivate a great feature called 2SV and choose your new method.
- If you’re on PSN: Type your credentials. Add the code you’ve just received.
Quick note: You’re able to use a code only for a short period of time (10 minutes). If missed – you’ll be able to ask for a new code.
When Use 2SV For Playstation?
This method for verification is awesome! HuskyBoost always uses it to protect PS accounts from any accidents.
- Right when you’re logging in for the first time, you use this method (after you’ve successfully enabled it).
- After you log off your account manually (press sign out), you’ll use this auth.
- After you reset your password, you will be required to type a code from this auth.
- After you’ve changed either the ID or email associated with your PS account, you will be required to finish things out with this auth.
Checking 2SV Backup Codes Easily
Want to check these codes for emergency logging? Very good! HuskyBoost will help you.
- Go to settings where you manage your account. From there, switch to the Security tab.
- There, check for these codes. Make sure to save them before you leave the Settings tab.
Quick note: If you lose your PS account (you won’t be able to log in again), these codes won’t be retrievable. So, if you don’t have them and someone has accessed your PS, contact PS support for an account recovery.
Turning Off 2SV Online
HuskyBoost will tell you how to turn this auth off.
- First of all, you must be in the account where you want to turn them off. From there, click on Settings (related to managing your PS account).
- From there, go to the Security tab.
- Do a deacivation for the 2SV auth. Choose the section related to Status, then click on Edit and turn the auth off as you want.
Disabling 2SV on PlayStation Consoles
On PS5, its very simple to do, go step-by-step with our HuskyBoost guide:
- Open up the Settings tab.
- From there, manage your Account options, and then go to the Security tab.
- There, you’ll see the desired 2SV and the checkbox to disable it. As simple as that.
On PS4, the guide is similar, but you would need to choose “Inactive” status for the 2SV.
What to Do If Locked Out In 2SV
Can’t log in to your PS account? Well, that’s bad. But yet our guide can help you even with that. You must do a verification for your identity in the support center of PS accounts, and the account is yours.
