Placements: What are placement matches?

Every ranked journey has to start somewhere—and in most competitive games, that starting point is your placement matches. Before you can begin your climb up the ladder, you’ll need to play a few of these matches so the game can figure out where your skill level sits and assign you an appropriate starting rank.
Once you unlock ranked mode, the system doesn’t just throw you into a random tier, nor does it place you at the very bottom. You begin in an unranked state, and only after finishing your placement games will you be given a rank based on how well you performed and how many matches you won.
Placement In Other Games
Most games require around 10 placement matches, though the exact number can vary depending on the title. Since your placement rank sets the tone for the rest of the season, many players choose to have an Eloking booster handle these matches to get the best possible start.
Placement games aren’t just for newcomers either. If a new season begins and your rank gets reset, you’ll likely have to go through placements again. That said, your new rank is usually close to where you left off at the end of the previous season, so it’s more of a reset checkpoint than a total reroll.
Eloking supports placement matches across all the games it offers coaching and boosting for. Want to place well in Valorant? Just hop on the Eloking platform, select Valorant, and choose the placement match option—it’s that simple.
