In competitive titles, developers aim to provide just the right amount of information without making the screen feel overloaded.
What a HUD shows really depends on the type of game you’re playing. In first-person shooters, you’ll often see elements like your current health, remaining ammo, crosshair, and indicators showing where damage is coming from. On the other hand, MOBAs like League of Legends tend to focus on character stats, damage numbers, minimaps, kill notifications, and so on. To get the most out of your radar without it becoming a distraction, it’s a good idea to decrease both the radar size and map zoom. Keeping things compact helps you stay focused while still giving you the info you need. Try setting the HUD scale to 0.9—the smallest size available—for a cleaner look.
Under the radar settings, make sure to turn on “Radar Centers The Player” so you always have a clear view of your surroundings. Also, check that “Radar is Rotating” is enabled to keep your orientation consistent. A radar HUD size of 1.1 works well for most setups. And if you want more map visibility when holding down the scoreboard, turn on “Toggle Shape With Scoreboard”—this way, the full map pops up when you press Tab.
