Greetings, Guardians! Librarian Husky here with your latest Destiny 2 updates. As always, I’m here to keep you informed on everything happening in the world of Destiny. Today, we have an important patch coming up that will address some of the lingering bugs in the game. With update 8101 being the first patch after the Revenant expansion, it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.
Destiny 2: Patch and Maintenance Updates
It looks like the patch and maintenance for this week will go smoothly, but we’ll have to wait and see how it unfolds. Bungie has also shared a quick update, recognizing the announcement from their partners at NetEase for Destiny Rising, the mobile game. The player base has had a lot of interesting feedback on that.

Upcoming Developer Insights
This week, Bungie will release new information on Destiny 2 Frontiers, specifically through a developer insight article scheduled for Wednesday. We can expect to see more details about changes or adjustments being made to the game. On Thursday, Bungie will also share their regular TWAB, so be sure to look out for additional news.
Issues with Hunter Tether in the Dungeon
While most of the issues from this weekend’s dungeon have been resolved, Bungie has kept the Hunter Tether disabled due to consistent error codes. It’s possible that this will be addressed in the patch this week, but a fix may come later. Keep this in mind when running the dungeon.
Weekly Rewards and Zer’s Return
Zer returns on Friday, October 18th, and for the first time, he’ll be offering the new exotic skimmer known as the Zerf Board. Bungie seems to have added this as a catch-up mechanic since previous skimmers were event-exclusive or only purchasable with Silver. You can grab the Zerf Board for 97 Strange Coins, so start stacking those coins now!
Exotic Weapon Hunt and Weekly Activities
Players will be able to grab the new items starting Friday. Many will head into Vesa’s host this week with renewed chances of picking up the Icebreaker. Good luck if you’re hunting for this weapon. There are also secret puzzles and quest steps related to acquiring the Icebreaker Catalyst, so keep an eye out for those. If you manage to pick it up this week, or if you already have one, there are detailed guides available on obtaining the Catalyst.
Garden of Salvation Raid Updates
Garden of Salvation will be one of the featured raids this reset. It’s seen several updates to its weapon loot pool, making it an exciting option for players. A new momento is now available, typically dropping from the final bosses, so be on the lookout if you’re diving into the raid.
Weapon Updates and Perks
Among the weapons getting updates, The Reckless Oracle, a Void rapid-fire Auto Rifle, now comes with perk pairings like destabilizing rounds and paracausal affinity. Crude Redemption, the kinetic precision compound bow, features perks like hand strike and Archer’s Gambit. The Zealot’s Reward, a Void rapid-fire fusion rifle, can roll with destabilizing rounds and Reservoir burst.
More Endgame Weapon Updates
Additional weapons such as Ancient Gospel, now a Void adaptive hand cannon, can roll with Rampage and Kill Clip. Sacred Provence, a kinetic aggressive pulse rifle, comes with perks like Demolitionist and Kinetic Tremors, while Prophet of Doom, an Arc precision shotgun, can roll with Threat Remover and Vault Sharp, adding a fun element to endgame weaponry.
Solar Rapid Fire Sniper and Raid Farming
The Solar rapid-fire sniper rifle can now roll with perks like Fourth Times the Charm and Precision Instrument. These are just some of the exciting perk combinations available, and you can find more on sites like light.gg. With the raid being featured this week, these weapons are fully farmable, meaning you can run encounters or the full raid for multiple chances at these drops. Don’t forget to visit Hawthorne for the weekly red border quest before jumping into the raid.
Return of Trials and Weapon Updates
On Friday, October 18th, Trials will return for the first time this season. Bungie has made updates to the postgame rewards. The non-Adept weekly weapon now has a focused 50% drop rate compared to other weapons. This means even if the weekly weapon isn’t something you’re after, you still have a good chance of earning other Trials weapon rewards.
Yesterday’s Question Hand Cannon
A notable updated weapon in the Trials loot pool is the Yesterday’s Question hand cannon, an Arc heavy burst tank cannon. Some players managed to pick this up early due to a ranking rewards reset issue with Saint-14, but the first trait roll can include perks like Air Trigger and Closing Time, which boosts range, accuracy, and handling as the magazine depletes.

New Hand Cannon Perks and Rolls
The new hand cannon features perks like Fourth Times the Charm and Lone Wolf, which slightly improve aim assist, ADS speed, and airborne effectiveness. It also comes with Dragonfly, Rapid Hit, and To the Pain in the first column. In the second column, you can get Desperate Measures, Headseeker, Eye of the Storm, Moving Target, Vulture, or Zen Moment. These are solid rolls for both PvP and PvE. The hand cannon model, though familiar, looks great with the Trials aesthetic.
Tomorrow’s Answer Rocket Launcher
The Tomorrow’s Answer rocket launcher, now updated, is a Void high-impact frame launcher. It can roll Withering Gaze, allowing you to weaken your next target by aiming without firing for a short period. Other perks include Air Trigger, Danger Zone, and Envious Arsenal. The second perk column offers Bait and Switch, Chain Reaction, Cluster Bombs, Explosive Light, Frenzy, and Vorpal Weapon. These rolls provide a variety of exciting options for both PvP and PvE.
Weapon Chase and Community Thoughts
There are several intriguing new weapons and perk combinations available in this update, both in Trials and other activities. These perks open up exciting gameplay possibilities, and it will be interesting to see what players go after. Let us know your thoughts on which weapons or rolls you are most excited to chase this week!

These enemies must be stopped to prevent them from casting us into ruin. Defend our people, but know that simply killing them will not be enough. The challenge ahead requires more than just brute force.
