All right, It’s Librarian Husky. Welcome back to another article. Today, we’re going to discuss the progression systems within Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Progression Systems

When you first start the game, you’ll notice your power level, typically starting around 1900. This power level represents the strength of your guardian, which increases gradually over time. Progressing involves reaching milestones such as the soft cap at 1960. As you acquire gear, each piece will elevate your power level until you hit the cap.

Increasing your light level is crucial as it directly impacts your damage output and resilience in combat scenarios. Being underleveled can significantly hinder your effectiveness in various activities. For instance, attempting activities with a recommended light level of 1965 when you are below that threshold can make the encounters extremely challenging.

To enhance your light level, you must engage in activities that yield powerful gear rewards. These activities are marked with gold medallions in the Vanguard section. Completing these challenges will grant you powerful gear, the next tier of rewards beyond the soft cap.

In summary, progressing in Destiny 2 involves a continuous grind to boost your power level through gear acquisition and strategic engagement in activities offering powerful rewards.

Strategies for Power Level Advancement

To efficiently raise your power level in Destiny 2, it’s essential to focus on activities that offer powerful gear rewards. Engaging in activities with recommended light levels close to your current level ensures a smoother progression path. Additionally, leveraging the gear with the highest light level you possess can help bridge the gap between your current level and the activity’s recommended level.

Striking a balance between completing challenging activities and acquiring powerful gear is key to advancing swiftly in Destiny 2. Prioritizing activities that yield pinnacle gear, the highest tier of rewards, becomes crucial once you reach the soft cap. These pinnacle rewards offer significant power level boosts, aiding you in tackling tougher encounters and maximizing your guardian’s potential.

Remember to diversify your gameplay experience by exploring various activities that offer different types of rewards. This approach not only keeps the game engaging but also provides you with a range of gear options to optimize your power level progression effectively.

In conclusion, by strategically participating in activities, prioritizing powerful gear acquisition, and optimizing gear loadouts, you can steadily elevate your power level and enhance your performance in Destiny 2’s challenging encounters.

Increasing Light Level and Infusing Gear

And then you’ll eventually get up to 2010 or 2010 light level. And then you have to start doing pinnacle activities. That is activities that drop pinnacle gear. So that would be like a grandmaster nightfall will drop pinnacle. A regular nightfall will drop pinnacle. You just get powerful for onslaught. But yeah, you want to do pinnacle activities, and that will slowly bump it up. Unfortunately, it means that you have to get pinnacle gear for every slot that is deficient because your light level is really just an average of the gear that you have on. This is all what adds up into your light level.

And aside from just getting new gear, you can also infuse pieces of gear. Like you see, I have a 2010 bow. Well, if you don’t like that bow, you can choose to hit F and dismantle it, which will basically delete it. And in exchange, you’ll get resources and materials. You’ll get, you know, enhancement prisms or you’ll get glimmer or something like that. Or you can infuse it into a weapon that you use. So, this night shade that I’ve been using, if I want to bring it up to a higher gear level, you can click on details and go in and you can infuse it.

And this will still consume whatever you’re infusing. So, only infuse something if you know for a fact that you’re not going to use it because you’re essentially throwing it away to boost this other item. So, then I hit the infusion button. It cost me an upgrade module. And then boom, my weapon is now 2010 light level. And you see that my light level has gone up from what, like 1933 to 1943. So that boosted me up because my average gear level went up.

Currently, there is an event that is free for all players that is the right of the nine. You go here and you launch it, and you will actually be given a full set of equipment that is at the pinnacle cap, which means you don’t have to grind for it. You just get put at the cap. It’s really nice. Once you hit the powerful cap, everything that drops is just going to be legendary gear. You won’t get the blue gear after you reach a certain level. So once again, you just run up here, enjoy the scenery.

Understanding Destiny 2 Stats

Look at that crazy fractal thing around the tower. Don’t know what that is. Come over, accept a gift from the nine at this chest. And then all this stuff is yours for the taking. 100% free. And while we’re talking about progression, we can talk about stats. This is another part of the game that I don’t think really gets explained too well. You have stats over here on the right-hand side next to your gear. Basically, these stats determine different things in-game as well as ability cooldowns.

Mobility is how fast you can strafe from side to side. Your base jump height that is your first jump that is determined by mobility. Your resilience is basically built-in damage reduction. So if you get this up to, I believe 100, it will reduce your damage taken by 32%. That was a change made back in the witch queen where you started getting damage reduction for high resilience. This is also tied to the titans class ability. I forgot to mention that mobility is tied to the hunter’s class ability, which is a dodge that I can’t do for you here in this location. So forget that demo.

Then you have recovery, which is how fast your shields take to recharge. Usually, it takes, you know, a few seconds for your shields to actually start coming back after you stop taking damage. Kind of like in Halo, you have to go take cover and not get hit for a second for your shields to come back online. Same deal with this. But if you have a higher recovery stat, then it reduces the amount of time you need to be kind of hidden or out of the action to just a couple of seconds before your shields start to come back.

Then you have discipline, and this affects your grenade ability cooldown. Mine is only at tier one which is the same as 10. The tiers just go by 10. So I have a tier three. I’m just short of 40 by two points. And so that’s the break point. If I get two more points in recovery, then I’ll get 40 and my recovery rate will go up that much higher. Then you have intellect.

Understanding Armor Stats

That’s how fast your super takes to charge up. Right now I have a super low one. So it takes me almost 12 minutes for my super to come online just at base. And then I have strength and my melee comes back after 30 seconds or 33 which is pretty decent. So how do you increase these? Well, every piece of armor has corresponding stats.

The total amount of stats on this gear is 55. So 55 points distributed among the stats more or less randomly. You can equip a ghost mod to have these be focused. So you can, for example, put in a mobility focusing ghost mod, and that will make it so your mobility is always high on whatever piece of armor you get. This is currently a 55 stat piece of armor, which is all right. For the most part, people go for things that are like, you know, 65, 68, or higher.

That’s considered high stat, but this is just, you know, a piece that dropped on the ground for me. Let’s see. This one has a total of 50, 50, 47, and then this doesn’t have any because it’s a class item. So, yeah, as you can see, not super high stats. You basically just have to farm for pieces of armor with higher stats and use the ghost focusing mods to try and get them to get the stat that you want to be higher. The armor that I just grabbed from the gift of the nine has a total of 60 stats for the helmet.

So it looks like everything here is 60. So I could potentially put this on and boost all of my stats by a fair margin. So, let’s do that and take a look. There we go. Looking slick. Zero mobility. Oh, what happened? Well, that doesn’t make sense. Maybe it is my subclass that is penalizing my mobility. Let’s see. Plus 10 strength. There you go.

Optimizing Your Armor

It’s essential to understand the importance of armor stats in maximizing your performance. By strategically selecting armor with higher stats, such as 65, 68, or higher, you can significantly enhance your character’s capabilities. Utilizing ghost focusing mods allows you to tailor your armor’s stats to your preferences, ensuring that key attributes like mobility are optimized. Farming for pieces of armor with superior stats and employing these mods can elevate your overall effectiveness in combat scenarios. Additionally, acquiring high-stat armor, like the piece obtained from the gift of the nine with 60 stats for the helmet, presents an opportunity to boost your character’s stats significantly. By making informed decisions regarding your armor selection and customization, you can fine-tune your character’s abilities and excel in various challenges.

Armor Stats and Guardian Rank Progression

Yeah, spark of focus only tier one mobility. That’s not honestly that’s not very good for a hunter at all. Like you want your mobility to be quite high. So little disappointing on that stat distribution, honestly. The other way that you can increase your stats is with armor mods, which I can’t use right now because I need Guardian rank five, which I will get to in a second. But basically, the amount of energy your armor has will determine or limit how many armor mods you can equip. Some mods cost more energy than others to equip, and that’s just to kind of balance the game a little bit.

But right here, this first mod socket, this is for stats. You can increase any stat you want by up to 10 points on a piece of armor. So one, two, three, four, five. I could potentially put a plus 10 mod into each piece of armor for mobility and get myself up to 50 mobility again. If I have access to mods. Speaking of guardian rank, that is the next progression system that I’m going to talk about. While we’re here on the inventory screen, you can go to journey, and that will show where you are in your guardian rank. Currently, I’m guardian rank two. I just started this character in this account. And you can click on view rank progress. This is very important because it will show you what you have to do to get to the next one. The first one, I believe they just have you go to the tree in the tower and rank up.

And then for number two, you complete A Guardian Rises, which is just the very basics. That’s the one where you join in, you talk to Shaw Han, you fight Navota if you choose to do that. And now to get to rank three, I have this list of things to do. So, first is transmigration, which is the pale heart mission, which I can show you here. You go to the destinations, and then there’s the pale heart. And so you can click right there and then, you know, launch the mission. It’ll take you into kind of a trippy dramatic mission that’s actually quite lengthy. And that will take care of your first task for guardian rank. Next is point of contact. That’s at the end of the pale heart mission where you speak to the destination vendor. I won’t say who it is for spoilers.

Completing Activities in the European Dead Zone (EDZ)

Next, you have to do activities in the EDZ or the European dead zone. So I’ve already done that. I’ve landed and I’ve spoken with DevO. I’ve done two out of three public events. Let me actually go and show you a public event in the EDZ really quick. Go to the destination. And my recommendation is to take a look at the map because, as you can see, this is a public event. It has not started yet. It starts in a couple minutes.

This one starts in 4 and 1/2 minutes. So, I’m just going to Click that one. Boom. The waypoint lights up. Click on the fast travel node and launch in. All right, since I set a waypoint for the public activity, it’s highlighted right There for me with that diamond. And then I can just kill some coals real quick. Nice.

And then you can come over to this banner. You can rally, and that actually completely charges your super as well as gives you full ammo on everything. So, it tells me that I have a little over a minute before the public event starts. So, I’m just going to kill time. There we go. All right. So time’s up. The public events about to start. Looks like this is a taken blight event. And you will see there are going to be multiple sort of hemispheres of darkness that form, and there are bad guys that we need to defeat and things that we need to shoot. So let’s go take care of it. So yeah, just shoot the balls of darkness. All right.

Participating in Public Events

Yeah, we got someone else participating. That’s cool. All right, next one’s up. And then you can make events go heroic by doing certain things. So in this case, instead of just killing the smaller blight, you can go into the little bubble of the small blight and then deal damage to this large one. You get a buff called blight receding. And then you can do damage to this. And if you do enough damage eventually, it will go heroic which hopefully hopefully I can do and that will spawn like a boss that you have to fight.

So use all heavy ammo just trying to get this thing going. Just got so he did it right. There‘s a torn. All right, perfect. And then you fight him basically by shooting his shoulder pads. I picked the wrong secret for this. Yeah, he suppressed me out of it. That’s a bummer. There we go. All right, got him. So we successfully completed the public event. And there we go. You can see guardian rank objective completed. So, we got that. And then they got nice treasure chests with some loot in it. And by loot, I mean glimmer, whatever. So yeah, you can see here you go to journey. You can view rank progress. So I’ve completed the objective. I’ve gotten the public events done. It’s just kind of a checklist. And then next is Nessus.

Completing Heroic Events

Completing heroic events requires specific actions during public events. By engaging with the mechanics, such as targeting specific enemies or activating particular triggers, you can trigger a heroic version of the event. This enhanced event offers greater challenges and rewards, including the appearance of powerful bosses. To succeed in heroic events, coordination and strategy are crucial. Players must work together to achieve the additional objectives necessary to activate the heroic mode. Successfully completing these events not only provides a greater challenge but also yields better loot and rewards, enhancing the overall gaming experience. Remember, teamwork and communication are key to conquering heroic events efficiently.

Guardian Ranks and Armor Mods

Again, all you need to do is go to destinations. Head to Nessus where you are supposed to meet Failafe, the AI of the Exodus Black ship. Launch in, meet Failafe, and follow this process until you reach guardian rank five. This rank is crucial for accessing armor mods. Keep repeating these tasks to unlock more ranks and access armor mods.

You can summon your sparrow, navigate to the location, and interact with Failafe. The quests offered by Failafe are not the primary focus; the goal is to progress through the guardian ranks efficiently. To advance, complete two lost sectors on Nessus and engage in Patrols. Patrols are brief objectives scattered across the world. Simply interact with nodes or pyramids, which will indicate the tasks to be completed. Tasks typically involve activities like collecting supplies, which entails defeating enemies to gather dropped items. Once you complete these patrols, proceed to a lost sector marked by a specific symbol denoting its entrance nearby.

Exploring Lost Sectors for Loot

And I don’t quite remember where it is when I open up the map. See, it looks like I just need to turn to the right a little bit. There we go. So, yeah, it’s usually like some little nook and then deep inside the planet, you got like a whole little level down here.

So, yeah, you run through, kill the enemies, kill the mini boss. Yeah, there you go. Found a lost sector. Dangerous areas for powerful combatants. Guard chest of loot. Whenever you see the symbol out in the world, it means there’s a lost sector entrance nearby.

Ancient Tree and Guardian Rank Progress

So now I am ready to go to the ancient tree. And this is how you rank up your guardian rank. As you can see, the tree is glowing. Look at that. Beautiful beckoning. You get like fireworks. Amazing. So yeah, light subass. Boom. Already got that. Good to go. So I already got glimmer. See, I need to get enhancement cores. Purchase weapons from the gunsmith and then apply shaders and upgrade my ghost. Okay. And then while you’re in the tower and you’re all glowy, you can jump like super high, which is always fun. Yeah. Like look at that. You can also go to appearance customization and you can apply to share to all of your gear at once.

Enhancement Cores and Gear Customization

When upgrading your gear, acquiring enhancement cores is essential for progress. Make sure to purchase weapons from the gunsmith and apply shaders to enhance your equipment. Upgrading your ghost can significantly boost your capabilities. While in the tower, take advantage of the heightened mobility granted by your glowy state. Gear modification is crucial for optimizing your performance. Apply shaders to customize the appearance of your gear effortlessly.
