What’s up, Guardians, and welcome back! Warlocks, I’m Librarian Husky. Today, weβll be exploring an electrifying, lore-accurate Stormcaller build that is not only powerful but also incredibly fun to use. Stormcallers don’t just study the storm, they become one with it. This ethos is tied closely to freedom, unpredictability, and raw power.
The Traits of Stormcaller Warlocks
These are traits not all Warlocks seek, and traits not all Warlocks can handle. Stormcaller Warlocks are relatively rare in the lore of Destiny 2 because mastering this subclass, specifically the ability to wield lightning and control storms, requires an extraordinary level of discipline and understanding.
Stormcallers Throughout Destiny
Since the inception of the Stormcaller class back in Destiny 1, this has been an incredible option for Warlocks, allowing them to melt large groups of enemies by channeling the raw power of lightning. With devastating AOE attacks, they can clear entire waves of enemies in seconds.
The Evolution of Stormcallers
Over the years, we’ve seen numerous changes and adaptations to the Stormcaller subclass. Now, in the final shape, weβve truly mastered the storm. The introduction of the Prismatic class has allowed Stormcaller Warlocks to transfer their most powerful traits into a hybrid build.
Prismatic Stormcaller Synergy
This new build grants Stormcaller Warlocks increased survivability, more ability uptime, and higher damage output than ever before. The performance boost also enhances several Warlock Exotics, like the Getaway Artist and the Fallen Sunstar. Today, however, weβll focus on the synergy between the Prismatic Stormcaller and the Crown of Tempests.
Crown of Tempest and the Prismatic Synergy
Its intrinsic trait, called Conduction Times, creates extraordinary synergy with a standard Stormcaller subclass. However, with the Prismatic subclass, we gain abilities that the Stormcaller has never possessed before, most notably Devour. Paired with the Prismatic subclass, the Crown of Tempests allows us to harness the storm’s full power without feeling like a glass cannon.
Ability Regeneration and Stacking Bonuses
We get a stacking bonus to ability regeneration whenever we defeat enemies with Arc abilities and Jolt, which works cohesively with Devour. This grants bonus grenade energy and full health restoration upon defeating enemies, creating a build with significant survivability, perfect for the toughest PvE content.
Conduction Times and Stacks
Whenever we defeat enemies with any Arc ability or a source of Jolt, Conduction Times activates, lasting for 7 seconds. Each enemy defeated adds a stack, with a maximum of three. At one stack, you’ll see a 168% increase in grenade, melee, and super energy regeneration. With two stacks, the increase jumps to 335%, and at three stacks, it reaches 53%.
Maximizing Efficiency in Combat
With multiple ways to trigger Jolt and a variety of Arc abilities available, we can maintain three stacks of Conduction Times as long as we stay engaged in combat. This maximizes our ability uptime and efficiency when handling enemies. Even while in Stormtrance super, Conduction Times will continue to regenerate ability energy and extend its duration.

Maximizing Stormtrain Super Duration
At one stack of Conduction Times, we experience a 22% reduction in the decay of our super energy. At two stacks, this increases to 44%, and at three stacks, it jumps to 65%. This allows us to remain in our Stormtrain super for more than double the usual duration, maximizing its potential.
Prismatic Subclass Enhancements
Along with the Stormtrain super, Stormcallers carry over the Lightning Surge aspect, Storm Grenades, and Chain Lightning melee, as well as several fragments that have been adapted to the Prismatic subclass. In this build, we will not use Chain Lightning, but instead focus on Storm Grenades and Lightning Surge.
Arcane Needles and Bonus Melee Charges
We avoid Chain Lightning because the Prismatic subclass offers Arcane Needles, providing three total melee charges. These allow up to three consecutive Lightning Surges, spreading massive amounts of Jolt across the battlefield. Additionally, the Arcane Needles provide unraveling benefits, but the bonus melee charges are the focus for increasing our Lightning Surge output.
Ionic Traces and Bonus Energy
To further enhance the build, we benefit from Ionic Traces, which grant a 12.5% bonus to melee and grenade energy, as well as a 15% bonus to class ability energy. Between our Storm Grenade, Lightning Surge, super, and weapons, we can maintain Conduction Times almost indefinitely, ensuring continuous energy regeneration.
Prismatic Fragments and Storm Grenades
For Prismatic fragments, we select the Facet of Dominance to directly improve the performance of our Storm Grenades. These grenades will now apply Jolt to enemies, further enhancing our damage output and synergy with the Crown of Tempests.
Ionic Traces and Energy Generation
We are using the Facet of Awakening, which generates ionic traces whenever we rapidly defeat enemies with Arc abilities. Paired with the Elemental Siphon artifact mod, our kinetic and Arc weapons can also create ionic traces. This allows us to create up to two ionic traces simultaneously, doubling our ability energy.
Enhancing Durability and Protection
Lightning Surge will place us deep within enemy territory, making durability a priority. The Facet of Protection grants a 15% increase in damage resistance when surrounded by enemies, and this increases to 32% during our Transcendent State. This allows us to spam Lightning Surges and combo grenades effectively while boosting our survivability.
Galvanic Armor and Damage Resistance
To further increase our damage resistance, we use the Galvanic Armor artifact mod, which grants an additional 30% damage resistance when Amplified. Since we will constantly be Amplified with an infinite supply of Storm Grenades and Lightning Surges, this will provide near-constant protection.
Generating Darkness Energy
Loaded with light abilities, we will primarily generate light Transcendent energy. To balance this, we use the Facet of Sacrifice, which grants bonus energy when defeating enemies while Devour, Radiance, or Amplified is active. As these will always be active, weβll generate ample Darkness energy, allowing us to cast our transcendency more often.
Radiance and Build Superiority
This buildβs superiority over the standard counterpart is also evident with the addition of Radiance. We can trigger Radiance frequently, further enhancing our overall damage and survivability, making this build incredibly versatile and powerful.
Bonus Weapon Damage and Barrier Piercing
When striking enemies with Arcane Needle or Lightning Surge, thanks to the Facet of Dawn, our weapons gain the ability to pierce barrier shields and receive a 25% bonus in damage for 8 seconds while Radiance is active. This stacks with weapon surge mods and activity modifiers, giving us consistent increased damage output and barrier-piercing capabilities.
Radiant Orbs and Weapon Synergy
By using the Radiant Orbs artifact mod, collecting orbs will trigger Radiance, ensuring we frequently have this bonus weapon damage. We also add two additional artifact mods that boost both damage and ability regeneration, making this build highly efficient, whether used with the Prismatic subclass or a standard Stormcaller.
Shock and Awe for Arc Abilities
The Shock and Awe mod enhances our Arc abilities and Arc weapons by creating bursts of lightning that jolt enemies, providing another source of damage. These bursts can only trigger every 5 seconds but will keep Conduction Times active, ensuring consistent energy regeneration and damage output.
Shield Crush and Grenade Damage
The Shield Crush mod increases grenade damage and regeneration by 25% whenever we are Amplified or Radiant. If we apply Woven Mail or a Void overshield, we can extend this bonus to Lightning Surge. Using a Void weapon like the Vexcalibur, Manticore, or a weapon with Repulsor Brace would enable this additional boost.
Weapon Choices for This Build
The ideal weapons for this build include Arc weapons with traits like Dragonfly, Chain Reaction, and Volt Shot. Weapons with traits like Demolitionist, Pugilist, or Grave Robber are particularly beneficial, as they help regenerate abilities even faster. For example, the Indebted Kindness with Volt Shot is an excellent choice to complement this build.
Weapon Choices for Lightning Surge
We will be performing numerous Lightning Surges, so having a shotgun with One-Two Punch or Trench Barrel would be ideal. If we opt for an auto rifle like the Kastav, Prosecutor, or Shatter Price, it’s important to use the Sustained Fire artifact mod to gain bonus damage resistance. This can be paired with targeting autoloading for bonus damage and automatic reloading of the auto rifles.
Exotic Weapons to Pair with Crown of Tempests
The best Exotics to pair with Crown of Tempests are Trinity Ghoul, Centrifuse, and Thunderlord. Additionally, the Ergo Sum would have great synergy due to the Arc Conductor weapon trait, allowing us to have a constant overshield and surging nearby enemies with bonus lightning damage. Riskrunner and Stormbringer are also excellent options, with Stormbringer creating bolts of lightning after rapid final blows.
Ergo Sum and Transcendent Energy
Running Ergo Sum provides a significant benefit, as it generates bonus Transcendent energy. Pairing it with Crown of Tempests is highly recommended. If using Ergo Sum, consider the Blade Stamina artifact mod to regain ammo after rapid final blows. This setup would be powerful, especially with the extra Transcendent energy generation.
Armor, Mods, and Character Stats
Now that we’ve covered weapons and artifact mods, let’s discuss armor. For character stats, resilience is crucial to reduce incoming damage. Although we have plenty of super, grenade, and melee energy regeneration, focusing on discipline and strength can further reduce ability cooldowns. This will be particularly useful when entering endgame activities.

Focusing on Recovery and Cooldown Reduction
I recommend prioritizing high recovery to ensure faster health regeneration and a shorter cooldown on our Cloud ability. Although focusing on intellect is an option, we prefer using the Ashes to Assets helmet mod, which builds up more Super energy as we defeat enemies with our grenades.
Maximizing Damage Output with Armor Mods
Since our abilities will have a shorter cooldown, we can focus some armor mods on increasing our overall damage output. We are using Helmet Siphon, Firepower, Heavy-Handed, and the Reaper mod to generate orbs, which create armor charges. With these armor charges active, we’ll receive a times two weapon surge for all our Arc weapons, allowing us to clear enemies faster.
Special Ammo and Finisher Mods
If our loadout includes weapons like the Indebted Kindness or Ergo Sum, I recommend adding the Special Finisher mod. This will allow us to generate extra special ammo after performing finishers. This ensures continuous infliction of Jolt and lightning damage across enemies, dominating the battlefield.
