Welcome back, everyone, Librarian Husky! I’ve got some great news today because the first content patch has been revealed, and it’s a big one. Patch 10.0.7 for World of Warcraft: Dragonfly is packed with exciting new features, including a new raid, six timewalking dungeons, a stack of world content, and a huge array of new rewards. This patch is themed around WoW’s 20th anniversary, and there are some additional surprises too.
New Features in Patch 10.0.7
One exciting feature is the introduction of new Ascendant forms for Shamans, which look incredible. Also, Dracthyr will now have access to more classes, including Hunter, Rogue, Mage, Priest, Warrior, and Warlock. This expansion brings more versatility and options for players who want to try out different roles in the game. Let’s dive into all the content and rewards that will be available in this upcoming patch.
Quality of Life Upgrades
Now, on to a simple quality of life upgrade that will make your gaming experience better: having a bad charger can be frustrating. Enter the Ugreen Nexo Pro 100W charger. It features USB-A and two USB-C ports, with power management that balances charging across devices. You can even fast charge your laptop through its 100W USB-C port, which can take a MacBook Pro from 0% to 50% in just 27 minutes.
Latest Tech in Charger Design
The latest tech in charger design produces less heat, which means smaller chargers—no more big, hulking bricks like those old Apple chargers that are heavier, larger, slower, and only have a single port. This charger has all the safety chips to protect from overheating, overcurrent, overvoltage, and short circuits, giving you peace of mind.
Convenience and Versatility
Personally, I love having one charger that covers everything I need. Plus, if I’m ever in the US, I’ve got the compatible version too. I’ve been using Ugreen chargers for years, and they are simply the best in the market. Check them out for reliable and efficient charging solutions.
Mini Raid: Black Rock Depths Returns
Black Rock Depths is back, this time as a mini-raid with eight bosses and five mini-bosses available on LFR, normal, and heroic difficulty levels. It should drop after most guilds complete the heroic War Within raid, offering players something fun to do during mid-tier raid lulls.

Timewalking Dungeons Expansion
That’s not all, as Deadmines, Zul’Farrak, and both wings of Dire Maul are being added to Timewalking dungeons. These will stay in the Timewalking holiday rotation, but there won’t be any Battle for Azeroth Timewalking for now. This decision seems sensible, considering the Siege of Boralus is part of the Season 1 War Within rotation.
Focus on Modern Content
Blizzard likely wants to focus on more modern content that translates well to Mythic Plus. While some players may not be too excited about BFA and Shadowlands Timewalking, it’s great that these dungeons will be accessible from level 10, making them valuable for power leveling.
New Vendor Rewards
There’s also a vendor refresh with exciting new items, such as a Hippogryph, a Manasaber recolor, and a Spellweave Carpet, which costs 5,000 Timewalking coins. Keep in mind that Timewalking coins are now account-wide, allowing you to consolidate them across your warband.
Gates of Ahn’Qiraj Event
Blizzard has created a new scenario based on the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj event from late Vanilla. This nostalgic throwback brings back memories of an epic event, allowing players to relive one of WoW’s most significant historical moments.
The Gates of Ahn’Qiraj: A Unique MMO Moment
If you weren’t around back then, don’t worry—most of us weren’t. It was an incredible event, though perhaps more memorable in concept and story than in reality, as the servers struggled under the load. It was still a truly unique moment in MMO history, even if the technical difficulties made it rough.
New Scenario Format
This time, instead of an open-world event, Blizzard is introducing the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj as a scenario. The scenario seems to cover nearly the size of a zone, and we’ll be reliving the opening of the gates with a twist—timeways are jumbled, so you’ll encounter enemies like the Scourge and the Legion alongside others.
Leveling Opportunities and Accessibility
Unlike past events, this scenario won’t function as a massive open-world event like Radiant Echoes before the War Within expansion. Instead, it will likely have a player cap, making it a more contained experience. You can queue for it from level 15, making it a great way to level up new characters.
Design and Technical Choices
It’s unclear how the event will play out, but it may resemble a staged zone event, given the scenario format. Blizzard may want to isolate it for technical reasons or ensure easy access via a queue system. This could also allow for a more in-depth design, similar to a miniature Warfront, without the limitations of sharded open-world content.
Time-Based Scenarios in Warcraft
I know “Warfront” is a tricky word from BFA, but there’s something in that concept that could work here. This event is built around Chromie’s Codex, with Chromie guiding us through different points in time. Instead of random time-travel, they’ve tied it to a character and item, giving the experience more depth and grounding within the game’s lore.
Potential for More Historical Events
This setup makes me wonder if Blizzard plans to recreate other moments in Warcraft’s history. Could we see the War of the Ancients, the Culling of Stratholme, or even the Wrath of the Lich King’s zombie event done in this way? Big scenarios based on Warcraft’s rich history would be a thrilling direction for future content.
Korrak’s Revenge: A Classic Battleground
Korrak’s Revenge is back and remains mostly unchanged. It’s based on the classic Alterac Valley battleground where players actually focused on objectives, rather than rushing to kill the boss. They’ve also added a transmog item that gives your character a more period-appropriate look, with the rewards being the Stormpike Battle Ram for the Alliance and the Frostwolf Snarler for the Horde.
World Bosses Return
Several world bosses are making a return, including Doomwalker, Lord Kazzak, and the Dragons of Nightmare, all back in their original locations. Additionally, Shav’Anger and Aravon will appear in Tanaris, stirring up nostalgic memories for players who experienced these bosses during Wrath of the Lich King.
Celebration and Event Highlights
At least there will be plenty of chances for normal mode gear drops, but that’s not all. Celebrations have moved outside the Caverns of Time, bringing in a host of new features. There’s a Tri of Style-like event, a refresh of the Loremaster Quiz, and a weekly set of quests in a “Secrets of Azeroth” style that help guest relations solve problems.
Fun Activities and Rewards
Other events include a mount showcase, which is like Tri of Style but for mounts, an event with Lorewalker Cho, and various fun additions such as hero transformations. There’s even an ice rink using the tech from the Sanar boss room, a balloon ride, and other flavorful activities that add charm to the celebration.
Progression Rewards and Timing
One of the main rewards is the remastered Tier 2 set, which includes World of Warcraft’s iconic Judgment set. Death Knights, Demon Hunters, Monks, and Evokers will receive their own Tier 2-inspired sets as well, totaling 13 sets. These sets are visually stunning, though some may seem a bit over-the-top—especially for Hunters, who will look like they’ve skinned Spyro.
Bronze Celebration Tokens
The main currency for the event is the new Bronze Celebration Tokens, which might be season-limited. This assumption comes from a piece of b-roll shown during a WoWcast, and while it’s not confirmed, it’s something to keep in mind when planning your progression through the event.
Currency Cap and Cost of Rewards
There’s a cap of 125 tokens, and if you add up everything from one vendor (excluding the remasters), the total cost is 140. Since Blizzard confirmed that the remastered sets will also require this currency, it’s clear that obtaining all items will be a challenge. Tokens come from new weekly quests, and Season 1 weeklies will also drop them.
Affordability and Account Limitations
It’s unclear how much the remastered sets will cost, but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to afford them all. The currency is warband-transferable, which suggests an account-wide limit. This would prevent players from using multiple characters to bypass the token cap and unlock everything, ensuring the event’s longevity as an evergreen feature.
Uncertainty Around Implementation
A major caveat is that this information comes from pre-PTR footage, meaning the details are not final. Blizzard may make adjustments before the event goes live, and the tooltips shown in the footage could be outdated. Given the potential for this event to be a recurring feature in future anniversary celebrations, Blizzard will likely introduce limitations, though the exact nature of those limitations remains uncertain.

Design and Tuning of Anniversary Rewards
The tuning of the rewards is crucial, just like how the dose makes the poison. On the event vendor, if you add everything up, it totals 140 tokens, while the seasonal cap is 125. Many of these items are rare mounts from past anniversary events, making them quite valuable. Some items may be expensive, and players might only afford a few sets. Blizzard should err on the side of generosity, as more can always be added later.
Rare Items and New Rewards
Looking at the vendor, you’ll see rare items such as the Baby Blizzard Bear, which few players have, and the Molten Corgi from the Molten Core LFR event back in 2014. There are also new rewards, including a sword, shield, and an armored Phoenix mount, all themed after Blizzard’s internal Employee Service rewards, which look fantastic.
November Trading Post Offerings
The November Trading Post brings some exciting new items, including back pieces themed after the factions from Warcraft III and Frozen Throne. These back pieces feature faction emblems, adding a nostalgic touch for fans of the classic Warcraft games.
Brilliant Rewards and Timewalking Vendor Updates
The good news is that the rewards look brilliant, and you won’t need to purchase them individually—they will be given as log completion rewards. Alongside this, there will be Timewalking vendor refreshes, with a variety of items available for Time Warp coins, which are now account-wide and transferable.
Event Timing and Duration
According to the WoWcast, development on this event started last autumn, and it will last longer than the usual few weeks. It’s expected to span the entirety of the 11.0.1 patch cycle, likely from October to December. The event is the main feature of patch 11.0.1, so it will be active throughout that time.
Patch Cycle Predictions
Looking at the 2024 roadmap, there’s no mention of patch 11.0.2, which I anticipate being a January release. Based on an 8-week cycle, patch 11.0.1 should launch around October 22, 2024, and if we add 8 weeks to that, patch 11.0.2 would likely arrive on December 17. However, December is too late for a major patch, so patch 11.0.3 might land around January 14, 2025. This schedule will keep us quite busy throughout the end of the year.
Expectations for Upcoming Raid and Class Changes
An entire new raid is expected, which is pretty exciting. Additionally, we can likely expect some class changes and perhaps a new quest line or two. The roadmap hints that there’s more coming beyond just the anniversary event, so there should be plenty to look forward to in terms of in-game content and updates.
Warcraft Direct and Patch Reveals
Warcraft Direct is happening soon, essentially replacing BlizzCon for this year, as there won’t be an official BlizzCon event. We’ll probably see the reveal of patch 11.1, and maybe some hints about what’s coming after that. We might also get a look at what the Plunder Storm team and the Remix team have been working on, as well as updates on Season of Discovery.
Blackwing Lair and Future Raids
Phase five, which includes Blackwing Lair, is currently on the PTR. Beyond that, we can expect more raids such as Ahn’Qiraj and Naxxramas. There are rumors about potential new content like the Karazhan Crypts or Scarlet Monastery, though nothing is confirmed yet. It’s clear that Blizzard has more surprises in store for future updates.
Speculation About Warcraft’s Future
We still don’t know what’s coming after the N’Zoth storyline. With N’Zoth likely out of the picture for now, it leaves the future of Warcraft lore wide open for speculation. There are many potential storylines to explore, and if you’ve already completed the campaign, you might be eagerly awaiting what’s next.
